'If one was to pass by a certain large hill in the open field, when the sun was high overhead and cicadas were buzzing and chirping amongst the trees in the nearby forest, they might be surprised to hear a strange huffing sound beneath all of these normal summer noises. If they were to stay there long enough, they may catch a glimpse of the strange creature emitting these sounds. If they were to stay there longer still, they might even-' "OOF!" A dark haired cat with light tan-ish fur was suddenly struck to the ground by what appeared to be a pink and blue missile from the sky. -'Be accosted by the maker of the sounds,' the cat finished her thought process with an inward snort. The missile was, in fact, a winged fox by the name of Kanna, who had the habit of climbing this hill three or four times a day and launching herself from it, in the hopes that this time, her wings would work. The unfortunate byproduct of this is how many fellow children she landed on. Today her victim was a young cat named Yasuna, who could often be found outside in the field drawing. Today, however, she had ventured outside at the request of the fox who was now cutting off the circulation in her legs. She and Kanna had become close friends since the fox had arrived at the pound and been taken in by Kita, caretaker of both children. Yasuna was one of the few who was still willing to accompany her for "flying practice". "You almost had it that time, Kanna," she said with a giggle, smiling warmly. The previously pouting fox grinned at this proclamation of her near-success. "You really think so? I guess I'd better try it again, then!" With a small hop she was back on her feet and on her way back up the hill to try again, huffing and puffing slightly due to both the effort needed to climb the steep hill, and due to her own annoyance at her lack of success. "Oh, sorry about landing on you!" She called over her shoulder.

Chains jangling as she walked through the field below, Asha stopped and looked up at the hill when she heard the sounds of distant laughter. Still new to Waywards, and not knowing any of the other children, she decided that it was as good a time as any to make some new friends and started the long climb up the hill to meet them.
As she came closer she began to notice that neither of the other girls, as she was finally close enough to acertain their genders, were wearing the normal clothing given to the children upon arrival, but were instead unique outfits, just like her. Even more curious about the other two felines now, Asha finally called out to say hello to them, her voice soft and scratchy, "Um, hello! My name is Asha..."

As Kanna was now halfway up the hill, she neither saw the approach of the newcomer, nor heard her greeting. Yasuna, however, who had been trying to decide which area would give her the least chance of being pounced upon by the younger fox again, jumped a little in surprise at the sound of another's voice. 'At least it's a female...' She thought, turning to face the other feline. "Hi," she called out, as there was still a relative amount of distance between them, "I'm Yasuna. What brings you out here today?"

Pausing in her approach, Asha's chains clink together in the still air around them. Wondering why this Yasuna seemed to want to stay away from her she spoke again, "I'm new here... And... I was taking a walk. Umm, is there something wrong?"
Tucking a strand of her blue hair behind one almost comically large ear, she waited and hoped that the other feline would at least talk to her for a while. Hadn't had anyone to really talk to since she was brought here, and had been feeling very alone.

The clinking noise being carried clearly across the field, Yasuna's green eyes took note of the chains wrapped around Asha's body for the first time. She was slightly surprised, but didn't comment on it. After all, she wasn't dressed normally either, and the girl seemed nice enough. "Hm?" She cocked her head to one side, wondering why anything would be wrong. "No, nothing's wrong... I just can't really come over there because my friend is climbing that hill over there, and-OOF!" 'Not again,' she thought with an inward groan as she found herself again splayed on the grass, Kanna's bushy tail in her face. Spitting out a mouthful of fur, she grumbled, "Kannaaa... I know you can't fly, but could you at least try to improve your aim?" Pouting and looking quite indignant, both at her latest failure and at Yasuna's comment, Kanna quickly righted herself, plopping onto the grass beside her friend. "You try jumping off that hill and picking where you land! ... Who's that?" She asked, catching sight of Asha.

Asha jumped back in shock when the fox she saw earlier came out of no-where and slammed full-body right into the other feline. Carefully Asha trotted a couple of steps closer to see if both of them were all right, unable to move much faster then that due to the weight of her chains.
Listening to their conversation in bewilderment, she finally registered that the fox she's looking at had actual wings on her back! Staring at the feathery appendages in disbelieving wonder, her brain only finally kicking back into gear when she realized that she was being talked about. "Oh, I'm Asha."

Her face taking on a look of intense concentration, Kanna scanned her memory for somebody named "Asha". Her gaze moved upwards as if she was physically looking into her mind for the information. Despite her best efforts, she had no luck. "It's nice to meet you, Asha," she said, hopping up and giving a little bow. "My name is Kanna!" Meanwhile she hoped with all her might that this was indeed the first time they had met, and that she had not simply forgotten who she was. That would be quite insulting indeed, and the poor chained cat didn't seem like she could take being insulted. Yasuna, alternately, was quite pleased that her clumsy friend had at least found a reason to get off of her. Standing and brushing herself off, she carefully adjusted her skirt before looking up at her friend and the newcomer. The corners of her mouth twitched as Kanna bowed. It amused her how the fox seemed to put a lot of effort into making good first impressions, but didn't quite maintain the same level of politeness afterwards.

Confused by Kanna's actions Asha could only watch in bewilderment as the winged fox appeared to be searching for something. As she opened her mouth to ask if she might be able to help the missing item, she was startled the abrubt introduction. Copying the bow as gracefully as she could the burdended feline managed to find her tongue long enough to introduce herself. "It's... Nice to meet you too Kanna. ...Um... Did you lose something? You... Seemed to be looking for something a moment ago...?"

Looking slightly flustered, Kanna shook her head vigorously, the bells in her hair jangling. "No, I just... I... Er..." Attempting to quickly improvise, she reached into one of the deep pockets of her robes and pulled out three small objects. She held them out proudly to reveal that they were in fact beanbags, magenta with a floral pattern. "I was looking for these!" Painting on a grin, she hoped the fact that she obviously knew where they had been was not too obvious. Yasuna, meanwhile, was not fooled by the fox's improvisation. She was familiar with her friend's habit of apparantly visually searching her memory, and was therefore rather amused to see her attempt at covering it up. Amused, and yet... Slightly alarmed as Kanna resorted to pulling out her beanbags. Taking a few precautionary steps backwards, she plopped herself onto the grass to watch the spectacle.

Watching her new aquaintence in curiousity, Asha took a couple of steps forward to see the items held out for observation. Having clearly seen the fox pull them out of her pocket, she couldn't help but wonder aloud, "Those are pretty! But... Is there one missing...?"
Reaslizing her mistake a moment late, and remembering how the feline seemed to have wanted to keep her distance, Asha glanced at the Yasuna worriedly and backpedaled a step, right onto the end of one of her chains. Just barely managed to think an 'Oh crud' as she got a lovely veiw of the blue sky above and having no hope to recover her balance due to the weight of the chains wrapped around her torso, Asha thudded back onto the grassy hillside. "Owww..."

"Huh?" Kanna replied, looking confused. "One missing? No, these are for a game... You throw them and catch them an-..." She trailed off in her explanation as her one-cat audience stepped on one of her chains and landed on her back with a loud "THUD-tinkle" noise. Having been too slow to react and try to help, and being a few paces away anyway, Kanna just eyed her for a few seconds, before running over and plopping down beside the fallen feline. "Errr... Are you ok?" She inquired, looking down at her in an upside-down way and blowing stray strands of her dark blue hair out of her face. "You kinda fell." Having seen Asha's concerned-looking glance her way before her unceremonious tumble onto the grass, Yasuna immediately hopped onto her feet and walked over to where the other cat was lying on the ground. "Are you ok?" She asked as well, offering her hand to help pull the obviously weighed-down child up.

Dazed and baffled, as well as having almost completely missed the explaination for what the small bags were for, Asha stared vancantly out into space for a moment while laying back on the grass, albit unwillingly. Finally registering that Kanna's face was right above hers and that she was saying something, Asha quickly tried to figure out what the fox was asking. "Oh, er... I'm... Okay, I think... but..."
Her speech cut off by the appearance of another paw right in her face, Asha's line of thought trailed off abrubtly. She gratefully took the offered hand before she had a chance to wonder who's it was, finding it difficult to get back up after falling due to being topheavy. "Ah, thank you! These chains... ," She trailed off again when she found herself staring right at Yasuna. Resisting the impluse to take a step back again, she waited to see how the other feline would react for all of a second before remembering the fox behind her and turning so she can see them both. "Eh, sorry about that... I err... Tripped. Kind of. Um, you were saying something about the pretty bags Kanna?"

After pulling the topheavy feline to her feet (Which took quite a bit of effort on the part of the slender and far from heavily muscled cat), Yasuna eyed the other child curiously. She seemed to act as if she was afraid of being near her. Ironic, she thought, usually I'm the one who's skittish around people. Shrugging this off, she turned her attention back to Kanna, who was again holding out her bean bags. "It's good that you're ok," Kanna said, nodding as if agreeing with herself on this statement. "Anyway, these are beanbags. You use them in a game where you throw them into the air and catch them, and you have to keep them from falling. I've been practicing a lot," she finished proudly, her thick bushy tail swishing behind her and her wings limp and temporarily forgotten. "Wanna see?"

Smiling at the formerly skittish Yasuna, Asha brushed the grass off her dress and picked it out of her chains distractedly, mostly using the action as a stalling tactic to give her some time to think. After a moment of thought decided to just act normally around both of the other girls and hope for the best. "Thank you Yasuna! It's hard to move in these sometimes," Asha said as she grinned, her ears folded back in embarrassment.
Giving herself one last good shake to remove the grass stuck to her Asha tilted her head to the side and examined the beanbags Kanna was holding up while listening to her explanation of the game. "...I...," pauses, blinking curiously, "Please show me? I'm not sure I understand how it's supposed to be played..."

"Sure!" Kanna said happily, plopping down onto the grass at the feet of her latest audience. Closing her eyes, she seemed to take a few seconds to compose herself, before re-opening them and looking intently at the beanbags in her hand. With one last deep breath, she tossed all three into the air at once, reached out with both hands... And was promptly whacked in the head by each bag, one by one. Huffing and looking a little dazed, she glowered up at Asha as if daring her to say anything against her skills. "I just need to warm up," she insisted, and tossed them into the air again. This time, one flew several feet to the right, one whacked Yasuna in the arm, and the third, miraculously, she caught. Frowning, she retrieved the other two bags and prepared to try again. Yasuna, unlike the other feline, knew exactly what was about to occur, so when Kanna proceeded to have two disasterous first tries, she wasn't particularly fazed by it. She was, in fact, surprised that the fox had managed to catch one on her second try. It was better than she usually did. After being struck in the arm by a wayward bag, she moved a few steps further away, wary of being hit in a more painful place. Still, she couldn't help but be amused by her friend's antics.
