Halili had slipped off from Majani, hoping to find some sort of gift for him. He had given her such a beautiful flower, and though she wore it proudly on her head, she wanted to give him something too. But...what? She really didn't know what Majani would like, being a boy and probably wanting more manly things.
Her hunt had brought her to a section of the jungle that she had never been to before. Being as smart as a dull penny, Halili hadn't noticed that she'd left the familiar grounds of 'home', and into a whole different place. Maybe her lucky would hold, and she wouldn't run into any trouble...especially since her bird friend Kenna hadn't been seen for some time, her 'eyes in the sky' were absent.

Not far away, a small white leopard made his way through the jungle he called home. The leopard had reached adulthood, but one would never know by his size which was closer to that of the average adolescent. Perhaps it was his life here and his diet of small creatures that led to his reduced size.
He was prancing happily through the jungle on his daily wanderings. His fur was damp, the occational drop falling to the carpet beneath, from his recent swim in the water, his stomach satisfied with his favorite meal of fish.
His ears flicked, pausing in his steps, green eyes searching for the source of something he'd heard. His eyes caught a hint of orange which stood out against the green of the jungle. What was that? Was it an animal or some kind of flower that he hadn't noticed before?

Halili could consider herslef a flower. The silly girl loved pretty things more then anything in the world....well, almost. majani came pretty high, too.
"What is Halili going to get for Majani??" The young lioness whispered to herself. She was paying too much attention to the ground, instead of what could be coming up towards her. The good thing was, she wouldn't trip when she was staring so intently.
"A necklace of vine? A pretty stone?" she grumbled on to herself, her tail flicking this way and that, her butt sticking up a little mor ein the air then her shoulders. You really couldn't call it much of a hunting pose...or any osrt of pose at that. It was just...Halili.

Keone was what you would call naive and innocent. Though he had learned much in recent times, there was much more that he did not know, and those things that he had learned were often warped by his childish mind. It was this that led him to be terrified of snakes, wildebeasts, and recently hyenas convinced that they were out to eat or crush him.
However despite his skiddish nature, the small leopard was also highly curiously, perhaps too curious, always interested in learning new things. In fact his curiousity often overrode his warryness.
His head titled as he watches the flash of orange move through the trees, green eyes captivated in that sense of overwhelming curiosity. Cautiously he approached, his tail flicking behind him, weaving through the trees toward the source. Even though he was curious he was not foolish, something in the back of his mind telling him to be wary should he need to run.

Halili's ear twitched as a piece of her mind told her to check her surroundings, just in case. That thought fell on deaf ears as she let out a light squeal. "Perhaps this!" She pounced on a curious stone, one that was similar to her coat, in an odd way. She poked at it with her claws, wondering if she should take it back to Majani. "But how would Majani hold it....a vine?" Halili suddenly popped up and looked into the trees, wondering if a green vine would be better...and just how she would get one...

By now Keone had gotten close enough to see the creature through the trees, following her silently, his eyes shining with curiousity as he watched her steps. He wasn't quite sure what she was, though she did look a bit like a lion, not that he'd ever seen one up close, and he'd never seen anything with stripes like that.
His white coat stood out amoung the green of the trees, perhaps as much as the lioness' orange one. Most cats might wonder why he hadn't been noticed yet, or if he had been and the other creature was simply waiting for an advantage. But the leopard's curiosity overrode his better judgement, and it didn't occur to him to be worried.
"What're you looking for?"

Startled by a sudden voice behind her, Halili squeaked as she spun around, wonder just what had found her. Seeing a bit white cat infront of her (as she had never met a lion before), Halili's heart slowed as she looked him up and down. He seemed nice, if a little...spotted.
"Geez, scaring Halili like that isn't nice!" She gave him a little huff, not noticing that she had kicked the stone aside, and seemingly forgot just what the leopard has said to her. "Halili scared easily, ya'know..." Her tail swished behind her in a soothing pattern as she looked at him again, a bit amazed at his coat. "You're so...spotted."

Keone jumped backward, startled by the lioness' sudden reaction, his tail flicking behind him. He hadn't even thought his voice might have startled her, his expression dumbfounded as he just blinked and stared at her for a moment.
He tilted his head curiously, she seemed about as threatening as he did, and he certainly wasn't threatening...was he. Ears flicking, his green eyes scanned her, so many stripes.
"Uh-huh, I'm a leopard, leopards have spots."
It was more than a statement, it was a proud decleration, a goofy grin spready across his maw, tail flicking happily behind him.
"How come you're all stripey?"

Halili took this new word into account. "Leopard?" Her ear flicked when she spoke the word...so..this was a leopard. "Leopards have spots...something Halili will remember." She gave him a serious nod, and did her best to store it into memory. Right.
Halili flicked her other ear. "Halili doesn't know...she's just been this way her whole life. She's got a friend named Majani who's striped too though!" She wriggled a bit, thinking about Majani.
"But not many lions have stripes....I think..." Her tail drooped a bit. She was proud of her stripes, even if they might make her a sort of outcast. Besides, Majani didn't ignore her, she liked that.
A moment of silence form the tiger-striped lioness as she took in his colour. He was so...white. Didn't that get dirty?
"What's your name? Mine's Halili." She gave him a warm smile. Not like he wouldn't know her name already. She did speak in third person, mostly.

Keone's ears flicked, taking a curious step forward, wanting to get a closer look at the striped lioness.
"I didn't know lions could have stripes," he sat back on his haunches, a thought look in his eyes. "That makes you special."
The small leopard nodded, looking very happy, his tail flicking behind him.
"Halili?" He repeated the name, attempting to pronounce it as she had. "My name's Keone, I live here."

Halili flushed a bit when Keone mentioned that she was special. Really? She never thought of herself like that. Just...as Halili. BUt if two had said that to her...two people couldn't lie, right?
"Wow, you live here to, Keone?" Halili's eyes lit up. "Halili does too! SHe lives with her friend Majani, but she's out looking for a present for him right now."
With a tilt of her head, the little yellow flower that Majani had given her became visible through the light sunrays that broke through the trees. "He gave this to her, and she wants to repay him. She did find a rock but..." she looked around. "I think she lost it..."

Keone nodded proudly, his tail flicking behind him.
"Uh-huh, I've always lived here."
His eyes fell on the flower and he couldn't help thinking it was very pretty. It reminded him of the flowers that he liked to give Karama. He wasn't sure what she did with them or how much she liked them, he just kept giving them to her because he thought they were pretty like she was. Maybe that was why this lioness' friend had given her a flower. But he had never thought of getting anything back in return, just being together with the dark leopardess told him she cared.
"Oh."
His green eyes turned toward the ground partly looking for the rock, and partly feeling bad for making her lose it.
"You could give him a fish? Fish are good."
He nodded, trying his best to be helpful.

Halili's emerald eyes stared into Keone's, wondering what he meant. She stared at him dumbfoundedly before speaking up, her words a little slow at first, before she really grasped what she wanted to ask.
"F....fish? What...are fish? Fish are something that you eat?"
Her head cocked to the side, her tail swishing lightly, Halili wasn't sure what this 'fish' was...but if Keone said it was good, then it must be! Especially since she heard that males really liked their food...maybe that would be something that Majani would like. She really wanted to make him happy...and if gifts made her happy, then they'd make him happy...right?
"Could Keone show Halili what these 'fish' are?"

The leopard nodded, his eyes bright with excitment.
"Uh-huh, fish are the best thing to eat."
He nodded again, tail flicking behind him, a broad smile across his maw that showed he was very happy and proud of himself for mentioning something good. A light purr rumbled in his throat for a moment as he remember the fish he had eaten not long ago.
"They're in the water, I can show you where."
He grinned again as he stood up, turning around toward the direction he had come, toward the water.
"It's this way."

Halili cocked her head up, watching him walk off...and then bounded after him 'til she caught up with his stride.
"Fish...in the water?" Her curiousity was overtaking her now. Just what was this fish? Was it big? Small? Cute? Ugly? Everything that she could think of flew through her mind as she followed Keone, excited about this new thing in her life.
She sure hoped they were yummy, she'd do her best to bring one back to Majani, and maybe after that she could find him that still stone that she had lost earlier.
Humming to herself while following Keone, she could lightly smell the water in the air. They're getting near water, anywho...
