Being the freak that I am, and after a purchase of about *coughfifty-sixtycough* books at a bookstore dollar sale...and no I'm not kidding about the number, I of course would be naturally drawn to do something else absurd, especially since two of those books I bought were astrology books. Do I believe in it? Yes and no, I usually can't deny certain accuracies, particularly in the more cenetered analyzations that focus on actual birth date and time, and I do believe the world to be ordered in it's own way, however I'm a strong supporter of individual identities from birth, and the general idea that our attitudes, perceptions, and free choice will lead our future more than the stars. But if it isn't a good laugh, it's something to read and poke at when you're bored. I read all my fortune cookies too, damnit. I also believe birth order plays a part in the development of our attitudes and role in society, as it probably should considering being raised in the home environment is the key part of the socialization process. But I'll describe that later.


So on to the discussion: What's your characters star sign? Does it fit at all? ((if you don't have an assigned birthdate, or don't know it, there are a few things that you can do 1. use the sign that coordinated with the date you created your character. 2. decide on a birthdate. 3. look at your character's characteristics and pick the sign that suits that personality best)).

How about Birth order? If not, I can probably help you out in that category, with this handy book I got ((yes, another bargain book. I also got one on beginning belly dancing, and if it's a good read, expect to see a thread on that as well.))

Pick a category that best describes your character ((obviously the category will not be perfect, and you will most likely fit into other categories as well, but we're looking for dominant traits here.))

A. Perfectionist, reliable, conscientious, list maker, well organized, hard driving, natural leader, critical, serious, scholarly, logical, doesn't like surprises, loves computers.

B. Mediator, compromising, diplomatic, avoids conflic, independant, loyal to peers, many friends, a maverick, secretive, unspoiled.

C. Manipulative, charming, blames others, attention seeker, tenacious, people person, natural, salesperson, precocious, engaging, affectionate, loves surprises.

D. Little adult by age seven; very thorough; delibarate; high achiever; self-motivated; fearful; cautious; voracious reader; black and white thinker; uses "very" "extrememly," "exactly" a lot; can't bear to fail; has very high expectations for self; more comfortable with people who are older or younger.

(A) is characteristic of a firstborn
(B) is characteristic of a middleborn
(C) is characteristic of a Lastborn
(D) is characteristic of an Onlyborn.

Now an important thing to note about these different characteristics is that they do not occur in every individual precisely, they are just common characteristics found in these specific birth orders. Birth order isn't really about birth order at all, as much as the characteristics that are developed according to one's place in the familly. And birth order is often prone to hybrids and switches, depending on the situations in their life, and the birth order of their own parents and how the raising of the children transfers expected behavious, etc. First born sons/daughters also may take on some of the qualities of a first born, even if they're the middle child, or the last child. Twins screw everything up, and commonly create a birth order amongst themselves. Large gaps inbetween the birth of children can also create a difference, if there are several years a part, the younger child can create firstborn/onlyborn tendancies depending on the circumstances. A death in the family can also create a rift in the birthorder, if a firstborn dies, the secondborn will often take a firstborn role. I'm sure you can only imagine what happens with mixed families, as the struggle for placement can cause conflict and adjustments to the roles.

Anyway, if you find that your character is strongly associated with a birth order but it's out of place from their predicted birth order, it's a great oppurtunity to ask why and get to know your character even more. What kind of traumatic events in their lives made them follow the paths that they do? For some characters the whole thing isn't really applicable at all >.> even though I'm sure I can still spot and identify birth order in them even if they try and deny it, but it's just a fun little side topic that helps me delve deeper into a character's psyche.

Or better yet, The secret Universe of names, and how the sounds interplay with our character development. I love that book, if you want me to look up a name, let me know, and they're categorized by sounds, not by name, so even if you have an odd character name, I can still find the category it falls into. There is nothing better in this world than a good pile of bargain books.

xd I'll get right on it. BTW, in advanced note, the center Chakra of the Scorpio, of which I think is one quality Arch would share, is located in the groin. One of the strengths of a scorpio is their sex appeal, but that's just because they're mysterious and secretive...and have issues. ISSUES!!!!!---I'll get to the rest it in a bit.

Yeah, Larry always seemed like a firstborn to me. Bobby, I'd almost put him as one with onlyborn characteristics, particularly with the death of his younger brother, I could easily see him feeling distanced.

I'm also irritable, aggressive, overbearing, and in general fiery tempered. Such news to me....

Does that cover running away when pursued by the opposite sex?
