on the last uest for the thiefs guild with the elder scroll. it said in the gray foxs note that something would go wrong and when it does just get creative. so i was in the place with the monks and i talked to one of them cause i thought that was the thing that was supposed to go wrong then i dropped down the fire place and now all the doors leading back to there are now locked and i cant complete the quest anymore... crying

Well first of all if you went out the old way. by jumping down with the boots of springheel jack and the be removed you have to exit the sewers talk to the gray fox and do it all again.

But don't the boots of springheel jack break after you use them once? I thought they broke once you used them once to fall down the fireplace

i already talked to the gray fox and he said, "you dont have the scroll!? then we have nothing to talk about!"

I think if you messed up once you can't finish the quest. Good thing i saved just right before I messed up. LOL A guard saw me as I came out of the fire place but i thought I was ok until I went to get the scoll and the guy wouldn't give it to me. <__<;; So I just reload the game.
Anywho, I don't know if you can get it a different way... but I wouln't doubt it. You can try looking for it beyond those doors on top of the stairs... you know what im talking about? Good luck.

Use paint brushes to climb back up, The hex code is 0001BBC5. Paint brushes do not move after they are placed so you can climb up them.
