.: Meeting Alia:.

Alia paced back and forth uncertainly in her home. A furrowed brow and a heavy mandate of confusion and concern was bore around her shoulders. Stopping short suddenly, the thinly framed woman turned to look out the ongoing window expanse. It ran along the room in a circular fashion. A 360 degree panoramic view of the world around her. It was things such as this that left the woman humbled and in awe of the universe. Speeders rushed by, an ongoing struggle for one to get to their destination. Stepping closer Alia watched the suns slowly drift down into the horizon, sending a golden light shimmering through the dust particles in the air.

It was such a sight to see, the way it shimmered, the way it...

"Lady Alia?" a hoarse voice suddenly interrupted the young woman's thoughts. Her head snapped to attention to see a rather clean-cut guard standing at the door. Of course, Alia knew him well. Match Tonor. He was a bit rough around the edges, but he was a good man. It caught her strange, however, that she had not even noticed the door slide open.

"Yes?" her voice quivered slightly as she spoke, her nerves overpowering her rationality.

"A young miss Si'enn Var is here to see you." a large hand moved beyond the door, as if reaching back for something. It then gentley guided a small girl to the forfront.

Alia's eyes widened slightly in surprise. The girl was a small, blue, Twi'lek. The child's lekku were small, and tiny hands were patting slightly at one of them. She had large, almost seagreen eyes. Cute as a button. Alia's mind could barely wrap around the notion of one such as she becoming a valerous Jedi.

"Looks are falliable. You cannot judge by them." Si'enn spoke suddenly, taking a careful step towards the woman who was now taken slightly aback.

"I can see it in your eyes. Do not worry." she smiled brightly.

"Match," Alia turned to look towards the guard, "thank you for showing her in, but I shall ask for you to leave us for now."

"Yes m'Lady." a tip of his hat and he walked out, the door sliding shut after him.

Alia stood straight up, and began to walk towards a couch that was centered in the room. Motioning with her hand, she infered that Si'enn follow suit. The Twi'lek girl quickly followed along, clambering up onto the seat, Si'enn folded her hands neatly on her lap and smiled awkwardly at Alia.

"I thank you for this meeting, Miss Alia. It is very kind of you, doing what you are doing for me." Such a well versed child, Alia inwardly mused to herself, polite too.

"Ah, you can thank Match in part, when you go off with him again. He was the one who suggested it. Although, I feel I'm the privledged one here." Alia relaxed a little on the couch.

"Are you excited for the training Si'enn?" Alia watched the child's bodylanguage with curiousity. She was not blessed with force sensitivity like the girl, but after years of dealing with politician's and being part of the social order of things, she had learned her own way of reading people. They were always dropping hints with their movements, the tone of their voice, their eyes...

"Yes, I am." Si'enn drew her knees up, wrapping her arms around them, letting her chin rest upon her knees.

"Nervous?"

There was a brief pause after Alia's question, the child's body stiffened slightly, and she patted gingerly at the wrinkles in her pantlegs. Taking this opportunity, Alia gently rested a hand on the girl's shoulder. A comforting agent if one would please.

"It will be alright, I'm certain of it."

"What if I'm not as good as the others?" Si'enn's face contorted with worry. It was obvious this had been on the child's mind for some time.

"What if I fail?"

Alia squeezed the girl's shoulder lightly and shook her head, "We must think positively. I know you will do well. I have faith in you."

This seemed to relieve some of the Twi'lek's anxiety, although the concern could still noted in her posture. Slightly unsure, herself, how to deal with the situation, Alia was unaccustomed to children. Certainly she could deal with the intricacies of politial issues. Accustomed to the witty banter of the politicans themselves. But a child was nothing like these things.

Si'enn sighed suddenly, before sitting up straight. She really did not want to disappoint her sponsor. Nerves, she knew. She knew she'd get over it once she got there. She also sensed Alia's growing concern and confusion. She seemed like a very kind lady. Si'enn was glad to have met her.

"When I get to the temple, could I contact you?" she asked quietly.

Alia's face softened into a motherly smile, and she relaxed as the child posed her question. "Yes, of course you may. I shall write to you, myself, and return all your letters." she chuckled.

"And perhaps I shall visit you sometime, and I will bring a special friend for you to meet." Alia preened at the thought of her creature home.

"Is it not here? This is not your home?" the twi'lek asked suddenly, curiousity getting the best of her.

"Oh! No, I'm afraid not." Alia laughed and patted the girl's hand. "No, no. This is simply a lounge room. I live away from here, on a planet called Drall. It's in the Correllian Sector. Do you know where that is?"

Si'enn nodded. Oh yes, she knew where that was. She'd heard about it before, but never been there. No, this was actually her first time away from Ryloth. Excitement lit through her at the idea of another world however. She wanted to ask more questions, but knew she didn't have time.

"Maybe... I could see your home someday?" the girl quietly asked.

"Hmm, I think that may be nice. But, first you have to worry about your training. Then we can worry about seeing my home. Alright?" a knock at the door brought both girl's attention to it.

"Lady Alia? I'm afraid that it is time for Si'enn to head off now." Match was standing there as the doors slid open. Alia stood from the couch, offering a hand to the small girl. Si'enn took it and hopped up off the cushions.

"Alright then." Alia nodded and began to lead the child back to the door. Once there she turned and knelt before the small child.

"I know you will do well. Be certain in all that you do, and listen to your teachers. They are there to help you. Alright?" Si'enn nodded.

"Alright then. You be good for Match on the trip. He's sensitive you know." she winked and chuckled at the mumbling that came from the guard's direction.

Si'enn giggled and nodded, "Okay Alia." turning towards Match, Si'enn suddenly turned back and ran to Alia, hugging the blue haired woman.

"Thank you for this." she spoke into the older woman's arm. "I will do my best."

"I know you will," Alia spoke softly as the girl clung to her, "I know."

Match coughed a bit, and shifted where he stood. Time was of the essence, and he was a man of prompt disposition. Si'enn pulled from Alia and looked back to Match. She nodded. She knew it was time.

Without another word, the girl moved to Match's side. "Alright sir, I'm ready."

Looking to Alia, Match saw her nod. With that he ushered the girl out of the room, leaving Alia to her thoughts. The woman turned back to looked out the window. The speeders still rushing by. A pang of something tugged at her as she pondered the girls future. What was to come, she did not know. All she knew is that now the child had come into her life, a child not her own, and with a brief meeting she felt tied to that child. She knew she would keep in touch, she hoped to watch over Si'enn as she grew.

"Good luck." she muttered to the landscape. Turning, she moved off towards the door. It was time to return home and prepare for whatever was to come next.
