There is no strict definition as to "what is goth". Ask it, and you'll get thousands of completely different answers.
These are some things of my definitions:
Is Goth:
Romance
Tragedy
Art
Existentialism
Seeing both sides of an argument
Debating
Goth-rock (and related genres)
Victorian Fashion
DIY Fashion
Post-Punk Movement
Purpose
Peter Murphy
Rozz
Is Not:
Shallow Relationships
[Pointless] Sex
Trend-Following
Trend-Avoiding
Being totally for or against one side of an argument
Fighting
Metal (and related genres)
Trend-based Fashion
Punk Movement
Pointless Hatred, Death, Murder, Suicide, etc.
Marilyn Manson
Amy Lee
...though, these are [some of] my definitions.
Just for fair warning, you'll get A LOT of people who disagree with you. Also, this thread will most likely be shut down, as there are already dozens of "what is goth" threads.
