In the old games and shows the player characters were all very similar. With red being a rare color, cat players were illegal. In GU it seems every one has a special character and strange weapon class, Theres alot of red and cat like characters. What are the new weapon classes?

.hack character classes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

This article is about the character classes from .hack, a franchise that encompasses several video games, anime and manga. The franchise focuses on the mysterious events surrounding the mega-popular MMORPG The World. Most characters in the .hack franchise are known only by their virtual avatars within The World.

The character class chosen determines the base appearance to other players and the role that they can play during combat. Because skills and abilities are given by the items equipped, each character class can only use a specific type of weapon, though some armors can be used by multiple classes. However some character classes are chosen only as a matter of aesthetic value, reflecting the user's self image whether real or ideal.

In the beginning there are only six types of classes: Twin Blade, Heavy Blade, Blademaster, Wavemaster, Heavy Axeman, and Long Arm. In .hack//Legend of the Twilight, an expansion to The World was released, introducing the Brawler and Werewolf class. After a fire heavily damaged the game servers, The World was shut down for good. Code from The World was spliced together with another game in development to create The World R:2, complete with a new style, new graphics, and new character classes. However CC Corporation attests that player characters from the older version were not compatible and could not be transferred, effectively discarding over 20 million player characters.

The World
[edit]

Primary 6 Classes

* Blademaster: A playable charcter class that uses swords. This class is probably more accurate than others. This class is used by Balmung of the Azure Sky, Orca of the Azure Sea, Bear, Mia, Rachel, and Marlo.

* Heavy Axeman: A playable character class that uses gigantic axes to deal heavy damage. This class is used by Subaru, Piros, and Terajima Ryoko.

* Heavy Blade: A playable character class that uses broadswords and katanas to attack enemies. This class has the highest attack power of all the classes in the The World. This class is used by Rena, Mimiru, Sanjuro, and Blackrose.

* Long Arm: A playable character class that uses spears and lances. This class is used by Crim, Nuke Usagimaru, Kamui, Albireo, and Gardenia.

* Twin Blade: A playable character class that uses identical dual blades. This class has average attack power. This class is used by A-20, Shugo, Sora, Moonstone, Natsume, and Kite.

* Wavemaster: A playable character class that uses staves and long-range magic rather than melee attacks. This class has the lowest attack power and players using this class should avoid close combat. This class is used by B.T., Mireille, Tsukasa, Elk, Helba, Wiseman, Kazu, Hotaru, Hokuto, and Mistral.

[edit]

Affilated Terms

* Crimson Knights: Characters that fight to protect the World from illegal users. However none of them had any real administrative power. All of them work for Subaru. One of their objectives is to capture Tsukasa. They were all disbanded. (Scarlet Knights in the Japanese Version)

* Cobalt Knights: A team of system administrators who hunt down Vagrant A.I. and delete them. The first known leader was Alberio. Later the group was led by Kamui. Formed from the reminences of the Crimson Knights, and possessed much more power. (Cerullian Knights in the Anime Adaption)

* Illegal Character: A character that has been illegally edited via hacking. Helba and Mia fall into this category.

* NPC: Stands for non-playable characters. These are just programs that are used in shops. Most or all of their dialogue is scripted and they perform very limited functions.

* Player Killer: A PK is much like a serial killer, generally chosing random players and killing them at random, for one reason or another. Either to obtain their member address, or items. This class is what Sora fell into as well as Tri-Edge.

* Rare Hunters: Characters that like collecting rare items. Some may be obsessed with collecting rare items. Some own a special rare room for storing their items because it holds more than the storage in the NPCs. Mistral and Mireille both follow this ideal.

* System Administrator: Players that are in charge of protecting the world. They delete any hackers, cheaters and wandering A.I. Some are also in charge of setting up events for players to play. The first known Admins were Albireo and some unnamed references in .hack//AI Buster, Lios of the game series, and Balmung and Kamui from .hack//Legend of the Twilight.

* Vagrant / Wandering AI: Corrupted or illegal programs that have achieved a state of pseudo-existence within The World. They are hunted by system administrators who delete them in their debugging duties. Aura, Zefie, Morganna and Lycoris are Vagrant AI. A parallel may be drawn between them and Rampant AI.

[edit]

The World Expansion Pack
[edit]

Additional 2 Classes

* Werewolves: An upgrade of the Brawler class, this class also uses fists to fight opponents. Werewolves can transform into wolves at will and have fur so they don't get cold on Ice areas. Werewolf is a hidden class that can only be gained through the special "Class Change" Campaign. Any Brawler who can obtain a certain ultra-rare item can become a Werewolf. Ouka is of this character class.

* Brawler: A character class that uses fists to fight opponents. This Class is only ever mentioned, however, Ouka was once a Brawler before gaining the Werewolf upgrade.

* Game Masters: Although not actually a class at all, GM is a title used by CC Corp employees, giving them the ability to maintain events and perform administrative duties. GMs include Reki & Magi from .hack//Legend of the Twilight as well as many unnamed other references as seen in episode 2 during the Cherry Blossom Event.

The World R:2

It seems that animal-type avatars are common in The World R:2. In the original The World there seem to be no animal-type characters except Mia and her counterpart Macha, and everyone appeared to be interested in her. The Crimson Knights even tried to hunt Macha down. But in The World R:2 there are more commonly occurring character avatars that take on the appearance of various humanoid mammals such as dogs, jaguars, racoons and lions.

Primary 11 Classes

* Twin Sword: A Character Class similar to the original Twin Blade in The World, though this Class may utilise two longer edged blades. This is the first of the three classes Haseo chose Twin Sword as the first form of his Multi-Weapon class. Negimaru and Yowkow are both Twin Swords.

* Brandish: A character class that uses two-handed heavy weapons to fight, usually broadswords, similar to a Heavy Blade in The World. (Some swords have mechanized "secondary weapons" on them, such as a chainsaw which Haseo has in the G.U. trailers). Haseo chose Brandish as the second form of his Multi-Weapon class. This class is also used by Sakaki, Grein, Asta, and Gabi.

* Partisan: A Character Class that utilizes various pole-arm weapons, similar to a Long Arm in The World. This class is now used by Piros the 3rd, whose weapon looks like a long golden mace.

* Blade: A character class that uses swords to fight, swift, agile, and similar to a Blademaster in The World. Endrance, Silabus, Bordeaux, Kaede, Taika, Ender, Wool, and Cashmere are known Blade users.

* Dance Macabre: This unique character class uses a pair of sharp fans as weapons and fights with a fluid dancing motion. Yata and Naobi are both Dance Macabre.

* Flicker: A rare Character Class that weilds scythes. This class is used by Keyaki, and is Haseo's third Multi-Weapon form.

* Grappler: A Character Class that utilizes their fists, claws, feet and various wrestling-type manoeuvers to fight. It's similar to the Brawler class in .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. This class is used by Pai, Tenrow, and Tabby.

* Harvest: A Character Class that use staffs and specializes in defensive and healing magic instead of direct fighting. This class focuses on support magic. Atoli, Shino and Phyllo fall under this particular class type.

* Steam Gunner: A Character Class that uses a rifle with a sword-like bayonet running the length of it. This class specialises in both long-range and close-quarter fighting. Kuhn, Ovan, Taihaku, Sakisaka, and B set utilize this class.

* Warlock: A Character Class in which the character uses offensive magic, powered by a large spellbook, instead of physical attacks to defeat the opponent. Sakubo, Gaspard, and Tawaraya are all Warlocks.

* Multi-Weapon: A super rare Character Class which utilizes multiple weapons, and various skills. Multi-Weapons have the unique ability to use three varieties of weapons which they select while creating their character. However, they can't use them all from the beginning. At first, they can only use the first weapon type; the others are sealed. By completing exclusive quests, these abilities are released, and the character's appearance changes (an example of this is how heavily Haseo's appearance has changed by the GU game). This is the Multi-Weapon's "Job Extend" ability. Haseo and Matsu are both members of this Class.

Affiliated Terms

* A.I.D.A: Artificial Intelligence Data Anomalies; "illegal" data that does not belong in The World. AIDA may take on numerous forms, from creatures such as Anna, to Player Characters like Tri-Edge and even a simple black substance intended to attack and infect Player Characters.

* Player Killer: Characters that prefer to kill players for fun. Also, some like to kill them to steal their items to add to their collection. Many like PKing newbies because they're pushovers and easy targets. TaN is a guild composed of PKs. Tri-Edge is an infamous and legendary PKer fearfully rumored on message boards abroad: that when this mysterious phantom player kills a target, the unfortunate players that "die" from his attack don't ever come back.

* Player Killer Killer: Players that kill PKs. They sometimes kill PKs for revenge or to protect others. Haseo became a PKK in means of revenge for Shino after she fell into a comatosed state by the hand of the deadly Tri-Edge. Many state that PKKers are no different from PKers, and are looked down upon just as much as PKs, sometimes even more, as they do litle but cause further instability among the player community.

* Guildmaster: The leader and usually creator of a particular Guild. Guildmasters control Guild shops and have their own Grunty which takes on their master's characteristics and assists in the running of the Guild. Gabi, Keyaki, Silabus, Haseo, Yata, Taika, Piros the 3rd, Ovan, and Naobi either are or have been Guildmasters at some point.

* Unreturned: Refers to players in a coma, they are in this state because Tri-Edge used Data Drain on them. Shino is one example of an unreturned player.

* A.I.D.A=P.C:referring to player characters that are infected by A.I.D.A. They can hurt players in real life also. The only one that can defeat them is an epitaph-user.

* Epitaph-user:player characters that have one of the 8 phases in their pc.

* Tri-Edge (Kite of the Azure Flame)

Tri-Edge carries triple-edged twin blades. He is surrounded by azure flames when he appears, and is best known for causing characters to never return once he PKs them, as well as the "tri-edged" mark he leaves in areas. He always makes his appearance in the form of an orb of azure flame, and holds the power to Data Drain. Tri-Edge has the appearance of a posessed Kite [1].

* ? (Orca of the Azure Sea)

Avatar
[edit]

Avatar of 8 Phases

* Skeith The Terror of Death The Partner of "Haseo". Skeith was data drained and killed by "kite of azure flame", but his data is still alive which means he is alive too. He needed a partner and body. He saw a player that called The Terror of Death and finally found

a container for his data. Haseo and Skeith are both trying to eliminate Tri-Edge (Kite).

* Innis The Mirage of Deceit The Partner of "Atoli". Innis tried to find to same thing as Skeith and Others. Innis saw a girl and tried to enter The World. Innis found that partner in Atoli, but her PC is so weak that she can't call Innis.

* Magus the Propagation The Partner of "Kuhn". Magus tried find a new parter and he already found it in Kuhn. Kuhn is already able to utilize Magus but no one PC is strong enough Magus.

* Fidchell the Prophet The Partner of "Yata". Fidchell is found a new partner. This called himself Yata who is very unknown player.

* Gorre the Machinator

(a) The Partner of "Saku". (b) The Partner of "Bo". Gorre are twins and much like the PC of Saku and Bo.

* Macha the Temptress The partner of "Endrance". Endrance himself is already powerful so his Avatar is unknown.

* Tarvos the Avenger The partner of "Pai". An AIDA infection caused Tarvos to awaken within Pai.

* Corbenik the Rebirth The Partner of "Ovan". There is much speculation that the device on Ovan's arm has to do with Corbenik
