Use this thread to discuss your thoughts and opinions about the Nascar Nextel Cup Series in general. You can discuss the lastest thing Nascar has done to piss you off or you can discuss the latest thing Nascar has done that you think is a good thing. You get the idea...

Top 3 Qualifiers from the Chase, and all of them are in my Fantasy team... should I be happy, or should I pray for no turn 1 Big Wreck?

And what a EA Sports 500 race it was!!
I got home in time to see the last 15 laps. Hate to see Labonte and Marlin get wrecked. And what a dangerous last five laps!!
How bout Junior coming from 10th to first in five laps? I think Jarrett said it best in the post race interview.
And congratulations to Elliott Sadler for crossing the line this year with all four wheels on the ground! (Hey, he did, didn't he? xd )
I thought the take off was good, but it wasn't nearly as good as last year.
2003: Sadler gets a 10.0 perfect score, with a 1 1/2 flip pirouette and major dance.
2004: Nice hangtime, and great landing, but I thought the performance in the air lacked a bit this time around. blaugh
Glad to see that he was alright.

Is it any surprise that Dale Jr. won the EA Sports 500? Let's look at the conspiracy, then let's look at the fact that Dale Jr. is a restrictor plate dynamo.
Conspiracy!: Dale Jr. plays racing simulations and racing video games to practice his skills. EA Sports makes such games as Nascar Thunder 2004, and Nascar 2005: Chase for the Cup, and the entire Need For Speed genre. Coincidence? I THINK (maybe) NOT! scream
Dynamo!: Dale Jr. was taught by the best, still learns from the best, and can tacticfully decide when its time to move up the pack. blaugh He's like the Dover Monster, except in Talladega form.
Conspiracy!: For some reason, NASCAR.com always give precidence to the guy who got pulled into 2nd by Dale Jr. across the line. Why is that anyways...?
Dynamo!: Although people say nobody likes drafting with Dale Jr., EVERYBODY wants to draft with him, because he's that good.
Oh well, I'm done with my (pit) bull antics.
It was a good race, I'm mad I missed it (too busy racing online heh, 21st in Top 5 & Top 10).

Breaking News: At testing today in Martinsville, Jeff Gordon broke the 2000 track record of 19.88 held by Tony Stewart by .08 seconds... making it a new record of 19.80 seconds. I think the former ROC world champ is makin' a charge!

Thing is, DEI cars have basically ALWAYS dominated at restrictor plate races (well, at least the 8 and the 15...). Why? Noone knows.
And I'm personally GLAD that Elliott finished the race with 3.5 tires on the ground...whether or not that fourth one was on the ground is kinda iffy. wink Last year's wreck made ME a wreck, especially when they flew him out of the track like that.
And then come to find out that it was because the Infield Care Center was trying to force him to take an IV, and Elliott is EXTREMELY afraid of needles, and he...sorta flipped out. Grr..stupid doctors. *kicks them*

I don't know about you guys and gals, but I think we're about to see Mark Martin show us all he's not ready to retire yet. 4th in the points and staying consistent and he's probably the biggest underdog I've ever seen.

Breakdown of the 3 biggest players in the Chase heading into Atlanta:
1) Kurt Busch. He's won there once, and only once. He's showing off a steady stream of top 6's, 6 straight to be exact, all since the Chase has started. You don't suppose he wants that Smirnoff Ice sponsorship early do you?
2) Jeff Gordon. He's won here 4 times! Dude, he practically owns Atlanta. Riding on the sadness of the loss of some of the Hendrick family, Jeff or his partner Jimmie Johnson have a score to settle with fate, just like last weekend.
3) Dale Earnhardt Jr. Yeah, I said JUNIOR! He ain't his daddy yet, but he will be if he pulls them socks up some quick. Bad showing last week, so I'm sure the Bud hood will have some go-get-er-dun under there somewhere. Junior hasn't cut the lead down since he had the points lead, so we'll see whether or not he can make a recovery charge with 4 races to go.
Of these 3 guys, Gordon and Earnhardt have everything to lose and gain, since they run good in the last 4 races normally. Busch on the other hand just has to keep staying consistent up front, and he's got the championship looked up like Matt Kenseth did last year. Make it a 2-fer Roush Racing, Kurt!

No one will catch Busch if he keeps running like he does.

Kirk Bush almost lost the lead, but Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr. had problems that helped him even though Martin and Johnson had the final top two postitions in the race at Atlanta.
