One thing my exsperiance with World of Warcraft has brought to light is how diffretn people can enjoy the same game for very diffrent reasons. Some are all about getting the phat l00tz, while another might work to build a reputation of excelence for themselves, how they get there being pure means. Another might simply enjoy the challenge of gameplay it's self.
To me, the most important thing is that I feel as though I'm doing somthing awesome. Leading rightous souls in battle against the cruel and savage Horde is awesome; pwning noobs in the BG is not. Aiding the last remnants of humanity in their fight to reclaim their land from the Undead Scourge is awesome. Grinding mobs for 6 hours is not. While in practise they may be the same thing, in my head they are completely diffrent.
Needless to say, I play on a Role Playing server. The context in which my actions take place is very important for my enjoyment.
What about you folks? What is it about your favorite game that makes it fun and what does it say about you?

I've had the opportunity to indulge in D&D myself, and it was quite entertaining. Alot more thought provoking then tired old games the masses familiarize themselves with such as Halo and such where its just VIOLENCE BLAM BLAM DIE RINSE REPEAT. Im still not very good at it, as Im too lazy to read through the rulebook but its easier just to learn while playing anyways. blaugh

I love games, it's nice to have something to look forward to. A little world away from this crapy hateful place, little characters to make run around and battle bad guys. It's like reading books but you get to press buttons and listen to music.. mrgreen

Hear hear! Although there's nothing wrong with the occasional book as well. Yesterday I participated in a magic the gathering tournament at the local comic book store with some of my friends. Cam built me a deck, and after only having played the game a handful of times before, I went on to win first in the tournament and was undefeated! I won 3 booster packs but the best part was no one saw it coming cause at first I was so clueless, but in every match I got the exact card which I needed at the exact moment to win. rofl
What games do you play Flux? (and any other dorks who may be lurking about)

Well, I'm curently playing Kingdom Hearts. I love D&D though, and all other role playing games! It's funny you said something about Magic the Gathering, I didn't even know people still played that, much less still have competions. I haven't plyed that in about 7 years, but I've won my fair share! mrgreen That's awesome your playing! And if you like books, theres MAGIC books too. The first 3 to come out are out of print, but if you can find them, I would read them....

Hmm. I've heard my friends mention those before. Perhaps I shall have to seek them out. Then maybe I'll know what they're talking about with all the talk of back story and gibberish names for places and things. I have a hard enough time learning and remembering what all the cards do. xp

It's more a story that uses the laws of magic the gathering, not a book about the game. What games do you play besides that?

Mostly just gamecube games, and other video games of all kinds. I've dabbled in D&D but still know very little.

Eccentric Enigma Mostly just gamecube games, and other video games of all kinds. I've dabbled in D&D but still know very little. theres another game like D&D called riffs, it's really fun and you have an option to be anything you wanna be!! In the past present and future. If you have a good DM then you can have alot of fun.
