Pity for Little Brother Jeremy

Once upon a time, there was a little girl that went by the name of Dorothy. Dorothy was a small child, no older than four, but everyone in her village thought she was quite smart. They would go to her, and ask her advice. It was perhaps the most amazing thing that anyone had seen, when this small girl would answer every question that was asked with a wise, and thought out answer. Half the towns people would line up in front of her home everyday, and everyday, she would answer every question that was asked. Everyone loved her.

Now, as it happened, there were some frogs that lived in a pond near Dorothy’s house. They thought that the young child was quite something, as did most everyone else. But one frog, of whom the others called Little Frog Jeremy, did not. If she was so smart, why hadn’t she come to help the frogs in their pond? One day, he hopped out of the pond, and went to Dorothy. Her eyes became wide as she saw a little green frog hopping towards her, no larger that her little palm.

Little frog, little frog, what brings you here?
Of what is your question that is so dear?

Little Frog Jeremy answered:

I come to ask you, child so fond,
Of why you’ve yet help the frogs in the pond.

To this, little Dorothy had nothing to say. She sent Jeremy away, and went back to helping the people of the village. Little Frog Jeremy, quote upset, went back to the pond and cried. His friend, Good Brother Fox, asked him what was the matter.

The horrid girl name Dorothy
Refused to help me

How awful!, Good Brother Fox thought to himself. He would tell this girl off for his good friend Jeremy. So, the fox went to talk to Dorothy. Dorothy, who saw the fox, raised her eyebrows as she saw the fox trot towards her, no larger than her leg.

Good fox, good fox, what brings you here?
Of what is your question so dear?

Good Brother Fox answered:

I come to ask you, child so fond,
Of why you’ve yet help the frogs in the pond.

To this, little Dorothy had nothing to say. She sent Good Brother Fox away, and went back to helping the people of the village. Good Brother Fox, who was quite angry by this, sat upon his stone and growled. His friend, Quiet Sister Wolf, asked him what was the matter.

The horrid girl named Dorothy
Refused to help me.

What nerve!, Quiet Sister Wolf thought to herself. She would tell this girl off for her good friend Fox. So, the wolf went to talk to Dorothy. Dorothy, who saw the wolf, licked her lips as she saw the beast trot towards her, no larger than her wagon.

Quiet wolf, quiet wolf, what brings you here?
Of what is your question so dear?

Quiet Sister Wolf answered:

I come to ask you, child so fond,
Of why you’ve yet help the frogs in the pond.

To this, little Dorothy had nothing to say. She sent Quiet Sister Wolf away, and went back to helping the people of the village. Quiet Sister Wolf, who was outraged, stood upon her mountain and howled. Her friend, Young Master Griffin, asked her what was the matter.

The horrid girl named Dorothy
Refused to help me.

How cruel!, Young Master Griffin thought to himself. He would tell this girl off for his good friend Wolf. So, the Griffin went to talk to Dorothy. Dorothy, who saw the griffin, chattered her teeth as she saw the great animal flap towards her, no larger than half her house.

Young griffin, young griffin, what brings you here?
Of what is your question so dear?

Young Master Griffin answered:

I come to ask you, child so fond,
Of why you’ve yet help the frogs in the pond.

To this, little Dorothy had nothing to say. She sent Young Master Griffin away, and went back to helping the people of the village. Young Master Griffin, who was black with rage, flew about his sky, and screeched. His friend, Mighty Mother Dragon, asked him what was the matter.

The horrid girl named Dorothy
Refused to help me.

How stupid!, Mighty Mother Dragon thought to herself. She would tell this girl off for her good friend Griffin. So, the dragon went to talk to Dorothy. Dorothy, who saw the dragon, shook with fear as she saw the terrifying thing stomp towards her, no larger than the largest building in town.

Mighty dragon, mighty dragon, what brings you here?
Of what is your question so dear?

Mighty Mother Dragon answered:

I come to ask you, child so fond,
Of why you’ve yet help the frogs in the pond.

To this, little Dorothy had nothing to say. Though she tried, she could not get the dragon to leave. Again, Mighty Mother Dragon asked why she had not aided the frogs in the pond. ‘I must think of something to say’, Little Dorothy thought, ‘Or else I should be eaten!’. She could think of nothing, and when she told Mother Dragon she did not know, Mighty Mother Dragon crushed her home, burnt the farms, gobbled up the townspeople, and left nothing to stand, except for Dorothy, the pond, and the frogs.
