I'm planning on doing my first masquerade, I was just wondering how you put your voices on a CD and stuff. Like what program do you use? and What thing do you need? (like a microphone, etc.) I already got background music! (Just to let you know)

When I did masquerades we just had to speak really loud so our voice would carry. We didn't use CDs o.o; We must be ghetto sweatdrop

i Havnt done it yet, but ive seen it twice at Comic-con, Masquarde is baicly people in costume who perform for the audience for the hell of it and a chance to win prizes from both the Con and The Sponsers. I know a couple people who do it just for fun...

Anyway ya thats basicly it, People do skits or walk around the stage showing orginal costume ideas or just doing stand alones (Like the five year old Davey Jones, OMG XD)

But thier uslay really really funny either way, (beheading of pikachu with a lightsaber... O_o)

I've seen people do them with the CDs, but honestly I think it comes out better if it's all live. That's just my oppinion though. I have no idea what kind of programs to use, so I can't really help there, but honestly, I'd just practice speaking loudly lol xd

I think it also depends on what kinda of skit your doing, If theres alot of talking and you know the room in which you perfrom in is gunna be huge, use a CD if not, Belt it out lol

But i think if you have mic on your computer, there should be a program you can use... perhaps movie maker? ya movie maker allows you to make it into Mp3 Just dont load up movie clips ^_^

It might be hard though... But i think if you have your voice clip longer then the songit should work...

Or sumthing I'll try and figure it out biggrin But I wish you luck in the end anyway

I think the point of a Masquerade is to develop the character and show off the costume... but people kinda just goof off now... it's still cool ^^ I haven't ever done one either, but I intend to someday!!! I have a script making fun of the KHII ending, but I don't know if everyone would get that... maybe I should just do something with Naruto or Inuyasha.. it'd be more popular -_______-

A few friends of mine did Masq at AX a year or two ago so I'll see if they can tell me what they used.

Its easier for the people in the seats to hear if its done on CD. Otherwise all they see in the back is your mouth moving and you skittering about on stage, which then leads to loud yells of "we can't hear you" and other not so nice things which then makes it hard for anyone to hear. So a disk is the best way.

The Masquerade is a way to show off an outfit from an Anime or a Game/Movie in a walk-off-ish thing or in a skit.

For the CD thing, I'm using a piece of software called AIST Movie DV 3.0. I'd use the CD for the music and the script. This year at a Masquerade I saw a cute cosplayer try to say something over really, really low music. I was sitting in the second row and I could tell that he was yelling it, but all I could hear was mumbling noises. So, I'd recordyour voices and put the music behind it. THen tape yourselves doing the skit or walk and mouth the words while you play the CD on a tape so you know when to talk.

I don't know if that'll work for what you want, but that's what me and my friends are doing.

(BTW, this is my first time at a masquerade too blaugh )

Yep. Ryu is right. We could hardly hear him, even from the 2nd row. What you can do is get software, similar to the one Ryu and I are using, and record your voices with a microphone that works with computers, then put it in with the music you want. Good luck with your cosplay!

I use Cool Edit to pre-record my masquerade skits.

I used Garage band for mine..make sure the microphone isn't crappy or that the levels are on right so that people can hear you without getting deaf XD

Okay. So. I'm a Masquerade judge. But I don't judge skits. I judge the actual craftsmanship of the costume (Yeah, there goes all of my Friday and Saturday of the convention XD).

But I can say that I know at the convention I judge at, it's a rule that all of your music and voices have to be prerecorded. Live, while it's great, is tough to pull off (especially since a lot of the time, people are INCREDIBLY nervous, and tend to do not as well with a mic in hand). Not to mention the rigging of live mics at a convention center are expensive.

From personal masquerade participation experience, I've much prefered to pre-record my skit. There's less chances for technical difficulties with the mic, everyone can hear you, and it just makes my masq. experience a lot smoother.
