Astia was a mess. Simple as that. She was a complete and total disaster. She had gone all wack on Rahu! She was emotionaly, a torandocane. Thoughts were filled by starnge, horrible images, and dream were replaced by nightmeres. She ryed, alot more then she should. All because of that one.. that one stupid soquili. Bairn. She sortof hated him. The mare just wanted him to change, be differrent then this depressing wreck she had last met with. Why had he changed? Ru. Atleast that's what he had told her.

God.. how could she let one stupid stallion break her like that? Her legs moved on their own, walked to the pond. Her eyes were listless, and her mane and tail was a mess. Everyday, every minute, Astia could hear all the words he said to her.. about life, and secrets, and despair. It rung through her head. She just wanted to bash her head in! The mare let out a sigh, and kept on walking, her eyes not seeing.

Bliss pranced about happily in the field, he had no worries in his life. Everything and everyone just seemed so perfect. At that moment, the stallion was on a hunt for any of the mares he'd met before, perferrably Astia or Aruna. He hadn't seen either of them in a while and they were both very special to him. Perhaps today he'd meet them again and have a friendly conversation with them. Yea, that's exactly what he needed right now. Little did Bliss know about Astia and Bairn's little problem with eachother, and Aruna's whole story. But that was who he was, the ignorant, loving, happy stallion. And he wasn't afraid to admit it.

Dark eyes lay staring directly on the ground in front of him as he slowly walked many yards behind a certain 'stupid stallion'. Bairn had been watching Bliss all day long, it was a job his mother had given him. 'I worry about him, my son. You should check and make sure his day is perfect so I can stop worrying'. That was exactly what Mahiri had told him. And Bliss seemed to be happy all day, why was Bairn still following him? He had problems of his own at the moment, and didn't need to secretly babysit an idiot. Sighing, the stallion just kept right on walking, hoping no one would see him following Bliss.

Astia's head was hung low, as she refreshed her throat in the cool water. It was a bit scary just to look at herself, with her dull, glassy eyes, and her limp coat. The mare quickly turned away. Had to stay strong.. she reminded herself, she had to stay strong. It would dull soon enough. Or she would just go crazy. Tia did not prefer the latter. The mare hadn't eaten in maybe a day, maybe half a day. She was too preoccupied.
Was Bairn like this too? Came the discreet thought with his name in it. She pushed it away, angrily.

Astia's ears perked, slightly, as she heard the sound of hoovebeats. The mare couldn't tell if it was one soquili, or two. Was that.. Bliss? It was! A ghost of a smile appeared on her face as she saw him, not yet noticing Bairn. "Hey, Bliss." Her voice was tired, and a bit cracked, but there was happiness in it.

Bliss didn't even notice the golden mare that was right in front of him as he kept prancing about until she spoke his name. Returning an even brighter smile to Astia, he ran up to her and nuzzled her. "Hey Astia! What's up? You look alittle down? Did something happen?" The stallion pulled away from his friend and looked her directly into her distracted, sad eyes. "Seriously Astia, what's up?"

Bairn heard voices besides Bliss's off in the distance and knew instantly it was Astia's. What did he think he was doing, talking to her? He probably told her stupid, idiotic things that made her believe him and go against Bairn every time they talked. Running up to the two of them, he pushed Bliss out of the way quickly and stared the stallon down. "Get away from her." He growled.

"Bliss.." Her voice was full of gratefullness, and she nuzzled him weakly. "Not really.. just feelin down, I guess." Astia was sounding a bit stronger, she needed a friend. "Just.. been depressed, I guess." The slim mare shrugged, and avoided his light colored eyes.
"Wha..?" She was bumped back by some rude stallion. Bairn. Her eyes stared at him. "What, you'd rather have me die, then be with a friend? Why the hell are you even here, Bairn?" Astia's voice was gruff, losing all signs of prior weakness. "I've had enough, Bairn." All the toughness evaporated in a moment, and her once strong, tough body sagged slightly. Glaring at him, she walked right back up to Bliss, and smiled slightly. "Want to go somewhere else? We don't need him around."

He nodded in understanding to his friend, Bliss respected if she didn't want to talk about why she was upset. "Well, that's terrible. I really hope you feel better, if there is anything I can do...." His sentence was cut short by a certain brown stallion pushing him away from Astia. "Hey...Bairn?" Turning to Astia, he asked, "You know him?" Turning back to the stallion, he glared. "Get away from her? She's my friend. I'd rather not." Bliss looked at the two of them, very confused as to what was going on. They knew eachother it seemed, but in a bad way, not a good way. "Sure, if that is what you want, Astia."

Bairn looked at her with sad, pleading eyes...it was official. She hated him, everything he did was a mistake, he couldn't help himself at the time. "This idiot is your friend, Astia? And of cource I wouldn't want you to die, I'm not evil." His voice tried to sound the softest he could make it, but around Bliss it still seemed pretty cold. "I was babysitting this baby all day, my mom wanted me to. Don't ask me why, but I'd rather not disrespect my mother." Bairn noticed that her body language changed when he was around Bliss and him. "I'm supposed to watch Bliss, Astia I cannot leave him alone. But now that I know you guys know eachother I have to watch over you. He's too stupid to protect you."

Astia's glazed eyes lit up a little. "Thankyou, Bliss." She turned around to go, nudging Bliss to follow, when Bairn spoke.
He spoke. She turned around again, and stared at him, hard. Let him see her. Her dull eyes, her scrawny pelt and mane, her dull expression. "Well, Bairn. You talk like he isn't here. He's not stupid, he's kind, and he know how to make friends of people." Her voice was high, full of anger and weariness. "He's not a baby, either Bairn." The mare's eyes were hard. "Bain, he would know how to potect me. He's not a dolt. I guess you consider all horses who can care, and enjoy life, stupid then, huh? Well then, Bairn. I guess I seem sorta smart now then, Hmm? Do I look like I enjoy living anymore, Bairn?Do you know how many.." She cut herself off, realizing she was blubbering, and crying. "Bliss.. Come on. Lets let him find out who the real idiot is." She turned again, and started to walk away, till sh was a few yards away from the group, and beckoned Bliss to follow.

Aruna hummed softly, cheerfully a bit, as she trotted slowly out to the fields. She was planning to meet up with Bliss again, as she hadn't seen him in the longest time. She needed someone cheerful to be with, and Bliss had come into mind as she thought that. She was also looking around for Delano, but she was sure she would find him later. She heard a bit of ruckus as she walked, a bit of yelling, and recognized Astia's voice immediately. What was going on for the usually kind mare to be so upset? Picking up her pace, she began to gallop in the direction, and spotted Bliss, Bairn, and Astia. Only, Astia seemed different. Duller... What in the world? What happened?! She sped faster toward them until she was running. "Bairn! Astia! Bliss! I demand to know what's going on!" She said as she approached, the very figure of an angry, if confused, mare.

Bliss just stood there in disbelief, he had absolutely no idea what was going on. There was this thing following him all day without him knowing because of Mahiri? Did she seriously not trust him enough to spend a whole day by himself? It hurt to know that the mare he considered his own adoptive mother had to do that. He watched as Astia exploded with emotions when she tried to protect him and had no idea what he was supposed to do. They weren't fighting over him, they were merely using him as an excuse to argue. Sighing, the dark stallion stood in front of Astia and spoke to her softly. "Don't do this, please. You're ruining your life by letting him get to you. I do not care what he says to me, it cannot ruin my life. You just have to admit it." He nodded slowly and turned to Bairn. "So I'm an idiot, at least I'm proud because that makes me stand out in the crowd. And a baby? Well ha! I guess I am considering I'm much younger then you. So old man, if you want to ruin this lovely mare's life, I suggest you take a look at your own reflection first." Turning back to Astia, he shook his head. "No, not yet. You need to fix this. And don't cry, it's making your beauty disappear." A familiar voice rang in his ears and Bliss turned to see Aruna running towards them. "Ru! I'm not sure exactly, um...this is really between them two." He noted towards Bairn and Astia.

He blinked as she showed him herself, he had done that to her. He had changed her but not for the good. Feeling greatly ashamed, the only thing Bairn could do now was defend himself. "Kindness is stupidity, if you are kind to everyone, you'll never know which ones are out to harm you." He spoke in a much lighter tone then she, he hadn't realized what he had truly done to her. Not only on the inside, but definatly the outside. Her words hit him pretty hard, he just stood there like Bliss, having no idea what to say. "Astia...no, that's not what..." He trailed off, just staring at her. "Don't cry, please. I did not mean for you to end up like this...I'm..." No, he shook his head, he wouldn't say he was sorry just yet, because honestly he wasn't.
When Bliss finally spoke up, it made the stallion feel weak, he was letting an idiot get to him. "You stay out of this, I'll deal with you later. I don't need your pointless talk either, Bliss. Nobody cares." When Bliss had spotted Aruna, his sister, Bairn stood up straight and shut up. "Aruna! My love! So glad you could have come!" His voice was high and happy, as if to act as thought nothing had happened. "I was just protecting Astia from Bliss. He was going to harm her."

Astia sighed, exhuasted from her emotional outburst. Turning to Bliss, she smiled weakly at him. "Thankyou.. Bliss." The tired mare nodded, and blushed at his comments on how she was pretty. He always cheered her up, weather he meant too or not. Astia nuzzled the dark colored stallion. "Okay.." She was exhuasted, and mad, and incredibly depressed at the same time. "Ru..?" Her head snapped over to where Ru was standing. "Ru!" A smile lighted up on the mare's face, and she bounded over to her, all tiredness forgotten. She nuzzled her freind, and nickered in happiness.
"Oh, so kindness is stupidity?" Astia's head turned to Bairn. "You know what, oh smart one? So what? If we are kind, then we have no enemies. If we are kind, we won't have anyone wanting to hurt us." Ok, yeah, it mostly wasn't true. She had been nice in her old herd. But so what? She'd do anything to make what he said wrong. The mare sniffed. "What, Bairn? What did you mean for me to end up like? Like you? I'd rather die." Astia's voice was a whisper, full of rage. If that was possible. It seemed like some two legger could fly at that moment. She glared at Bairn. "I care about Bliss, Bairn. You may not, but I do." Grinding her teeth, the mare sighed. "What? How in the hell was Bliss going to hurt me? All he wants me to do is cheer up. I don't really consider it a crime." Astia's emotions were haywire. Just when she thought she could get over it.. Just when she thought.. it had come back again. She rested her head on Aruna's shoulder, moaning quietly.

Aruna eyed her brother. What was going on? She knew for a fact that Bliss would never hurt Astia, and... "Bairn," she said, sternly, eyeing him carefully. "If you want Astia to listen... tell her what you told me. Tell her why. The real reason. Why you're afraid." She had finished summing up what had happened. Poor Astia--her coat was so dull! She looked a mess. "Tia, Tia..." she soothed. "Calm down and listen. I'm here now. Everything will be okay." She turned and smiled at Bliss. "It's nice to see you again, dearest. I'm sorry I haven't come by to visit. I've been a bit busy myself." She turned to her brother, not wanting to seem like she was taking sides. "My love, why are you lying to me? Please don't tell me you've resorted to such just to keep yourself away from your problems! You're running away, Bairn. Stop running away... and face your problems."
PostPosted: Mon Aug 07, 2006 6:34 am

The dark stallion smiled when Astia nuzzled him and he returned it. He wanted to comfort her as best he could, be he knew he was no match for Bairn. But perhaps now that Aruna was here, things would turn out for the best.
"Nobody cares, Bairn? Apparently your wrong, Astia sure does." He spat softly, turning back to the two mares so he wouldn't have to deal with the stallion. He was about to speak to Aruna when the words rang in his ears. "Hurt Astia? I would never hurt Astia. You take that back now or I will hurt you." Bliss tried to keep his tone the same, it wasn't like him to argue or yell at anyone.

"In a way yes that is exactly what I just said. Kindness is stupidity unless you know how to use it. And your little theory there is completely wrong, Astia." Bairn just stared at her with a smug look on his face. She was trying to defeat him with her words, but they weren't going to work. He could always come back with something 'smarter' to say.
"No I never meant for you to end up the way I am right now, Astia please just listen to me..." He paused and looked at his sister, their talk helped him of cource, but seeing Astia just made everything worse again. "I wanted us to end up like my parents, well...the part when they were together still..." His voice was as soft as the wind when he spoke, it barely came out as more than a whisper.
"Alright, I'm sorry for saying Bliss was going to hurt you, I just saw Aruna and...." He turned to his sister and stared at her like a helpless little brother. "I wasn't lying, I just didn't want you to think I was a monster for coming and saying these things to her, even after what we talked about. My love, Father and Mother are running away, are they not?"

Astia nodded weakly to Aruna, and buried her head in Ru's mane. So confusing! Wait. What? "Afraid..?" She looked up. "Afraid.. You're afraid?" The mare blinked. Astia turned back to Bliss, and smiled. He was changing to. But for the better. But she was still confused. Afraid..?
"So, Bairn.. Kindness.. is stupidity? I must say, Bairn. That really shows how smart you are. How can you not except a helping hoove, how can you think being kind is wrong?" She wasn't trying to 'beat' him this time.. she wanted to know. He was an interesting case, a mean stallion, of course, but interesting? She wondered what made him like this.. Had it been her?
Tia nodded, warily. "I am listening, Bairn. I am. Why.. why are you.." She stopped, and listened to his words. What? "Your parents..? Us? Bairn.. we.. we could be.. you just have to take a chance, you know? Instead of running away.." She stopped, her gaze softened. He was afraid it wouldn't work? This was really, really awkward. What was he and Ru talking about. She stood there awkardly.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 10, 2006 7:28 pm

She sighed. This situation was becoming quite awkward. She knew that her presence here was both appreciated and unappreciated, though the latter wasn't spoken aloud. "Bairn. Kindness is stupidity if one doesn't know when to get past the limits of naivete and doesn't use their smarts. Astia knows this. Perhaps Bliss does not, but that is his nature." She smiled at Bliss, seeing that he, too, was changing. "Your kindness, Bliss, may one day change our land. For good or bad, it depends on how one interprets it." She nuzzled Astia, who shook somewhat violently. She seemed to have been slightly traumatized... like her brother. "I'll never think of you as a monster, Bairn. Never. You can be as stubborn and silly as Father at times, but I would never think of my little brother as a monster." She shook her head sadly. "Perhaps if you told Astia the truth? Why you are so afraid? Why you're so worried? A love that is hidden is more painful than a love that is not hidden..." She looked at her brother, golden eyes sharp with understanding and sternness. "Take it from me, my love. I know the pain of a hidden love."

Bliss had no idea what to do. It was like everything was going by so quickly. He looked at Aruna and Bairn, they had some secret of theirs that apparently was about Astia. The whole conversation was getting just a tad too far this time. "Ummm..." He spoke up, looking at Astia quickly, then turning to Bairn. "If I may..." The stallion paused, this was rather awkward. It seemed as though Bairn wasn't a bad guy at all, he was just afraid. Maybe Bliss could help, or atleast get his two cents in. Even though he was ignorant, he knew some things.
"Perhaps, Bairn you're afraid because you've never had anyone love you other then your family. This whole thing is new to you and you're too chicken to give it a shot, in case it turns out to be a disaster. Well..um...perhaps what you need to do is regain your cool and try things out with Astia. If it doesn't work, it wasn't meant to be. Mahiri told me that even though her mate and her never see eachother, it was obviously meant to be because they still love eachother deeply."
With a rather large smile, he turned to look at Aruna when she spoke. "Kindness is something I don't know, I just do it I guess. But really? Change the land, hmm...I like that." He laughed, trying to brighten up the mood.

Bairn slowly nodded, feeling ashamed. "Yes, I'm afraid, I'm...afraid." His voice was filled with a mixture of emotions, after telling Astia this, he wasn't sure how she would take it. Would she accept him, or think he's insane?
"Being kind isn't wrong, Astia. It's knowing how to use the kindness you give that counts. Overdoing it is stupidity and showing your weakness by being kind is stupidity." The stallion frowned at the golden mare in front of him, not daring to look at Aruna just yet. "We can't be because I'd ruin it. I can't take a chance, I'm...if it doesn't work or we end up like my parents I won't forgive myself. Running away seems like the only logical thing at the moment..."
Now turning to look at his sister, Bairn tried his best to smile. "Thanks, love...I think. I just couldn't stand the thought of perhaps you'd think of me in such a manner, I'm sorry. I cannot tell her the truth, I'm too afraid of her not wanting what I truly want." One look in his sister's eyes and that told him everything. She was there for him, to help him. "But you found someone better."
Now it was Bairn's turn to laugh as he heard Bliss speak. Did those words actually come from that stallion? So now what? Was he the ignorant and stupid one? Perhaps that's what it was. Bliss spoke of Mahiri as if he knew what she was going through, but he had no idea. "Don't talk about my mother like that. And no I'm not chicken of giving it a shot. I just..." He paused and glanced at Aruna and Astia. Bliss was right, but he didn't exactly want to admit it.
