Full Name: Riku

Aliases: Riku the Evil Paopu Fruit, Evil Little Paopu Fruit, Sephiroth Spawn, ETC...

Age: One year older than Sora. Effectively making him legal in KHII.

Typical Appearance: Shoulder-length silver hair and emerald eyes are his main features, and more often than not he'll forsake his Destiny Island wardrobe in favor of wearing an Unknown cloak. Sometimes he covered his eyes with bandages.

Notes: Riku is the true Keyblade Master, but he screwed that up when he allowed Ansem to corrupt him. Since then he's dealt with his own inner turmoil and well as puberty(!), effectively making him the World's Biggest Jackass. And he isn't Sephiroth's boy, either. >>.... Oh, yeah. And he's completely straight.

Biography: A boy raised on Destiny Islands. He yearned to see other worlds after meeting Kairi, a girl whom he cared about deeply. This often ignited his firendly rivalry with Sora, and chaos would ensue. Around age 9-10, while leaving the Secret Place, he saw a door, but never told anybody. It disappeared until he was 16. This door openede and Destiny Island was consumed by Darkness. Riku, Sora, and Kairi survived and were seperated.


Riku wandered alone in the darkness a long time until he finally escaped, meeting Maleficent, whom convinced thim she would help him find his friends. He agreed, and they finally found Sora, but was emotionally wounded by the occurance, and easily fell prey to Malecifent's coaxing that he was, in fact, cast aside. Riku set himself to find Kairi, slowly absorbing himself in darkness, and when he found her heart was gone, he tried stealing Pinocchio's to replace it. Failing, he continued to try figuring out how to revive her.

He soon came to control the Heartless courtesy Maleficent, and was completely lost in it, taking the Keyblade from Sora at Hollow Bastion, and nearly his friends. He then tried challenging Sora once. When that failed, he was confronted by Ansem and allowed the shade of a man into his heart. Ansem immediately began taking control, and Riku began fijghting back, realizing what he had allowed to happen. He bought Sora, Kairi, and the others time to flee Hollow Bastion once, but Ansem overwhelmed him again, and he was lost, possessed by Ansem, until the door to Kingdom Hearts opened and Ansem was all but destroyed by the light within. Riku was locked behind the door with the King when the door closed, and yet Ansem still remained within his heart.

Wandering behind the door, Riku found his way to Castle Oblivion and the 12 basements. He pressed through each level, fighting both the darkness within, an illusion of Ansem brought forward by a man called DiZ whom taunted him for his ways, and a clone of himself. Riku finally overcame this, accepting the darkness within himself to a degree, but he emerged stronger thanks to the help of the King.

Riku has become embittered by his experiances, resenting himself and those who act as if they don't care about the threat the Darkness truly is.

Riku has no friends yet. He sold them off for a cheap hotel. *Smacked*

The Winning Entry

This is the prompt and entry that got me Riku. ninja This is also the poor man's first dream.



It was hot. Then again, Summer on Destiny Island usually was. And to be honest, the heat made me a bit restless. Sora and I were both pretty bored that day, so we were pitching coconuts into the water when we saw Kairi watching. I elbowed him in the side for attention.

"Hey, Sora. Bet you I can beat you in a race." I challenged. I don't know why. Probably hormones -- we were both getting into puberty at any rate. I remember the look Sora gave me.

"Why?" He'd asked. I just grinned of course. Like I'd tell him Kairi was around yet?

"Just for kicks." I finally said. Sora's look was priceless. "Unless your chicken."

"HEY!"

That did it. Next thing I knew we were at the start of this part of the island in a cove. We usually raced to a star shaped marker we'd set up there. We weren't supposed to run there, but then again, it's not like us to listen ALL the time. Kairi, by now, had followed and Sora was getting hyper and goofy, like he always did. Sometimes he was such an idiot.

Well, Kairi called the start and off we went. I was actually getting a pretty good lead when the incident happened. We were climbing across the tree tops when a branch broke. I actually didn't hear the branch snap, because I'd almost reached the marker point when I heard Sora calling me.

"Riku! Help!"

I finally turned to see him hanging onto a branch. I was torn. Touch the marker point or help Sora? My concience got the better of me because if Sora fell and broke something, most likely we'd ALL be in trouble. So I did the only thing I could do.

"HANG ON, SORA!" I made my way back and dropped to my knees, and grabbed his arm to start pulling him up. Sora weighs a TON, I'll tell you right now. The first time, he almost slipped out of my grip, so I used both hands to pull him up finally. It took us a minute to catch our breaths.

"Thanks, Riku..." Sora finally said to me when he caught his breath. I just waved a hand, but didn't say anything. Next thing I know that knucklehead was off and running again.

"For the love of..."

You can bet I chased him down the rest of the race, because I just KNEW knowing our luck, he might actually fall out of a tree this time.

It was a really good time, back on the Islands. Sometimes I look at what I've become and then at what life was like back then, and wonder if things will be the same.

I doubnt it, but I still have to keep looking for Sora with the king. I just hope that numbskull didn't get himself stuck in a tree or something.

06/14/05-

Riku sat in his room, musing to himself. It wasn't him-like to keep a journal, but he kept a scrap book.

In his hand was a card from that girl.. What was her name? Marukka. His thoughts trailed to that which he thought was a dream. So it was real; what could he do? He didn't trust this girl with Sora, or the others. There was something off about her, off about this whole thing. The others were just naive and couldn't see it yet.

Come to think of it, the island WAS getting pretty populated lately... What was going on?

His thoughts churned, the card glimmering softly in his hand.
