Strutting around happily, this was a day to remember! Siltim had grown bigger and was not so small as he used to be any longer! His lime green eyes were vibrant with life as the Pridelands laid before him. His tail flicked from side to side as he leapt onto a small rock. Standing on top, he got a better view of things around him before he spotted a figure not too far off. Just who he was looking for! Now, he was going to get his first hunting lesson!

Mika'il had a lot on his mind. His second daughter was off in the world, who knows where, and he hasn't heard from her. While he is worried sick about her, he won't stop her from doing something she's enjoying. Therefore, with the loss of both a son and a daughter, all he has left are the two tricksters of the family: Siltim and Ma'isah. What is he going to do with those two? He shook his head upon spotting his son not too far away. Siltim has grown and thus, it's time for hunting lessons. Sooner, rather than later, the boy is going to need to learn how to find food for himself. He smiled at his son as he got closer, "Hello Siltim, I see you've gotten bigger."

Lime green eyes settled on his large, father's form as it came closer to where he was. Siltim smiled back to his father before he puffed out his chest. Leaping down from the rock, he gazed up at his father, not having to strain his neck so much. "I'll be as big as you, one day, Dad!" He admired his father, but if he knew what his father was actually thinking, then he'd more than likely pounce on his father for such thoughts. "Are you ready? I'm ready! I wanna go now, Dad!" Excited was just one of the words to describe Siltim at the moment. He had wanted more than anything to learn how to hunt, and now's his chance. An evil grin spread across his features, he's learning before Ma'isah. Oh, how he's going to tease her so!

Mika'il shook his head at his son's eagerness. He bent his head and whispered, "Siltim, you need to stop making so much noise. You'll scare away all the prey that way." He raised his head and turned slightly, before he walked away. "Come Siltim, I'm going to take you to a good place to learn. Follow me."

Taking heed to his father's words, Sitlim tried to quiet down. While it was such a struggle as to keep himself still, his insides were still going a mile a minute. He was just so excited! As his father beckoned him to follow, he did just that. The little green juvenile followed after his father, a step or two behind. Cautiously asking, "What are we going to hunt, Dad? Deer? Zebra?" He was curious as to what they were going to go hunting. Though, he knew this was just a lesson and was not meant to kill the animal. His father had made sure that he knew this like breathing the air, it was just a lesson, not an actual hunt.

Mika'il walked silently with his son next to him. His bright eyes took in the scenery before turning to look at his son. With a smile, "Ah, but Siltim, if I told you now, then it wouldn't be a secret...now would it?" He winked and brushed off his son's question. He doesn't plan on answering any time soon. Plus, his son would see when they got there. "It's not too far away." The pair walked past a couple of trees and through the Pridelands to a place that he had found not too long ago and showed it to his mate. They both felt it was the perfect area to teach their children to hunt without anyone or anything getting hurt.

A pout slowly grew on his features as Siltim realized that he wasn't getting any information out of his father. A sigh escaped before he just decided not to ask any longer. Following his father, he noticed something about this area. It was pretty far on the other side of the Pridelands, and it isn't some place he's been to yet. Oh good, a new place and hunting lessons. Though, his ears perked up as he heard the sound of something off in the distance. "That's not what I think it is...Dad?!"

Mika'il smiled brightly and nodded his head, "It seems you have figured it out. Yes Siltim, this is where we are going to have our first lesson. Your mother and I felt that this would be the best place for you to learn how to hunt." He replied before he got quiet again. There was a stream before them, it was slow moving but was teeming with life. He stopped and glanced at his son, "Alright, here's your first lesson. The fish in the stream can feel vibrations from our walking. I want you to walk to the stream and glance down. If you see a fish directly below you, then you have passed, if not, I'll make you do it over and over till you get it." He walked slowly, making careful placements of his paws, as he set an example for his son.

Lime green eyes widen as Siltim heard his father's challenge. To go, unnoticed, to the water and see if there were any fish there. Well, that didn't sound too hard now! Trying to follow in his father's footsteps, the green juvenile slowly crept towards the stream. As he got closer, he peered into the water, but caught the ripples of fish swimming away. How was it that his father could do it but he couldn't?! He huffed and puffed, before turning back around for a second try. "Not fair." He mumbled under his breath.

Mika'il watched his son's movements closely, noticing that his son wasn't being careful to where he stepped. He shook his head, "Siltim, you're too loud. If you were to go hunt larger prey, they'd all hear you before you could even begin a hunt. Try again," He smiled slowly, "This time, look at where you are stepping."

Biting back his pride, Siltim wouldn't let this small thing get in his way. Trying once again, he picked his steps cautiously while at the same time, holding in his breath. Once he came towards the stream, he tentatively peered over. And...he saw little fish swimming around before him! Success welled up inside of him as he turned to his father, "I did it!"

Mika'il smiled and nodded his head at his son. "Good! Now the easy part is over...let's get to the hard part..." He drew out his words, "Actually catching the fish!" He stopped talking and gazed down at the water. Small, silver fish were swimming in front of him. He raised a paw and quickly shot it into the water to produce a fish in his paw. He never raised a claw, so he let the fish flop out of his paw and back into the water.
"See? I want you to catch a fish and then let it go. You must not use your claws, I do not want you harming any of these fish. If you do so, then I won't take you on another lesson till your sister has successfully hunted her first prey." He threatened with a serious tone. He wanted Siltim to take this seriously, for he will hunt to provide food for the rest of his life. Have to learn early.

Lime green eyes widen at his father's threat? Not learn how to hunt until his sister learned?! That would be torture to Siltim. He gulped in understanding while he watched his father. His father made it seem pretty easy. Like catching the fish was no big deal, but after his first task, he had a pretty good idea that this would be just as difficult; if not harder.
He turned his attention back towards the water and waited till there was a small group of fish in front of him. Then, his paw was raised slowly before striking into the water. As the green juvenile brought the paw back out, it was dripping with water but no fish. How could that be?! "Dad! I placed my paw perfectly...I should have caught that fish!"

Mika'il chuckled at his son. "I see you've learned something firsthand now." He went to explain, " While you might think that the water is clear and that the fish are directly below you, they are not. See, the thing is, water shifts positions of the fish slightly and therefore, if you were to put your paw directly over the fish, in truth, you are slighlty off." He placed his paw in the shallow part of the water to emphasize, "See my paw? See how my paw is slightly shifted from above the water and below the water? This also applies to the fish. Try again."

Eyes widen slightly. So that's why he didn't catch a fish...because of the water! Siltim was slowly learning from his father about the refracting water and how things aren't always where they appear to be. This would definitely be useful in the future. As his father told him to try again, he would do just that. Lime green eyes gazed down at the water and waited till there were fish swimming before them. Raising his paw slightly, he positioned it slightly off from where the fish were. In his paw went and out came a slipper, little fish. As it flopped and wiggled till it splashed back into the water. Looking up at his father, he puffed out his chest and had a large smile plastered on his face, "I did it! I did it!"
