The Edge of the Southlands
-Shairi sighed gently, looking out across the border of the familar lands, turning back finally to gaze at where her new companion could possibly be, spotting his dark pelt nearing hers.
They'd spent the past few days together, ever since that fateful day, searching the southlands for any signs of her parents. They'd found the grove, with nothing there, but despite their painfully slow and uneventful trip she'd remained optimistic as always, made even happier by the pleasant company at her side.
However as the days began to pass she was beginning to feel that wandering tug at her heart, her feet begging to leave and head on their way once again. Even her soft humming and songs were seeming to become forlorn with her subconcious thoughts.-
"Zimwi.." -Her voice carried his name over the wind in a soft and sweet way, the word was becoming one of her new favorites. Eyes turning to touch him, she offered him a very soft sigh, before gazing out once more at the savannah.- "I'm ready to leave now.. but.. " -Faltering softly her ears settled against her head.- "I don't know if we'll be able to make it anywhere in particular before nightfall."

((I couldn't find this O.O;;; Mega sorry))
The large lion was quite pesimistic about finding her parents through the day's they'd spent together, although he never dared to speak his thought's and kept them bottled up for Shairi's sake. He truly saw her as becoming a good friend and hell, even now was his only and best friend in the world.
As her soft voice reached his ears, he looked at her face and gave a small smile, listening to the soft hint of sadness that he took it as within her otherwise cheery voice.
He then moved a little closer before offering the sweet natured female, a comforting, gentle nudge against her shoulder as he slowly walked beside her.
"Hey, that's alright, if we have to stop, we'll sleep where we are and I'll keep any dangerous creature's at bay." He said.
Not in a cocky way, more in the way an older brother would, or a father, or more likely, a best friend.

((I was actually going to send you a link once I was back and all. ^ ^ But you found it before I did XD))
-A soft rumbling of a purr touched her at his nudge, and she offered a smile to his words, nodding gently. Another thought had hit her mind yesterday, but it was a rather imposing one.. So she'd feared asking it.
Be still the thought crept through her mind, memories as a child of being carried aloft her father's back. Sure she wasn't that small anymore.. but Zimwi was still awfully large compared to her, so she found her mind tossing the idea over and over in her mind, imagining how far they could travel without her hobbling to keep them down.
For a moment she faltered, debating once again whether to ask, before pushing it aside once again. She was probably pretty heavy these days anyway, being fullgrown and all.- "Alright then, as long as you don't mind a little slowness."
-Tail twitching softly, she pondered as she looked around her, before offering a smile, and a questioning tone.- "To the jungle then? To see the stars in the waterfalls?"

((XD))
The lion blinked softly at the rumbling purr from the cheetah and gave back on of his own and smiled as he turned his attention forward to the road they now travelled.
He couldn't tell what she was thinking and the blank expression he now had on, meant nobody else could even if they tried. Zimwi' was stuck in his past memories of neglect and parental abuse, he still hadn't talked about it to his one and only friend. Would you if you'd had that happen in your life?
Before a sad sigh could escape him, his attention was diverted once again to his friend.
He offered a soft smile. "Ofcourse I don't mind us being slow."
He emphasized the 'US' because, in reality, he was travelling as slow as she was right now.
As she offered their next destination, he smiled and sighed softly before looking at Shairi. The happiness in his expression apparent. "Ofcourse."

-Nodding softly she took off, walking a little more comfortably as the days passed, though it was still obvious that deep down she was still upset about the whole thing.
She didn't ask if he'd like to lead or follow, by now knowing that no matter what pace she settled upon he'd follow directly alongside, listening to her chatter or sing, seemingly contented. But as of yet she'd done most of the chattering, and today she noticed it for the first time, offering him a soft glance as they padded along the warm sands. The words she decided on where probably not the best, his past still unknown to her, but since they'd spent the days before with her going on about her family, it only seemed like a logical starting point for her to learn about the intruging lion.- "Do you go and visit your family often?"

The lion gave a small sound, like he'd stepped on something and was shocked before pausing in his walk, eye's watching her for a moment before he looked away in thought.
How to tell her?
They hated me because I was black? They picked on me for being different and then finally kicked me out of the family? Then pretending he didn't exist?
Wrong! The one thing he wanted to do was keep his past hidden, buried and castrated within the depths of his mind so he would never have to bring it up again.
He started to walk again and placed the smile of a happy fool, obviously false and half telling that the owner didn't wish to delve into the thought's of his family.
"Uhmmm, not really."

"Mmm.. that's a little sad." -But she said nothing more then that on the subject, simply offering a mild brush of her cheek to his shoulder before they were walking once again, her tail twitching softly.-
"Perhaps something a bit more challenging then?" -A playful grin touched her face, wondering if she'd receive much of an answer, hoping softly that she would.- "Do you have any dreams? Or hopes? Things to do and see before the inevitable descension back into the earth?"

Zimwi'Jicho purred softly, a happy rumble as he felt her soft cheek brush his large frame and smiled at her. The large male felt content in her leaving the subject of his family and then gave a thoughtful sound at her next question.
Now this was tough, what to say? He'd never had a lot of self expectation's as a child, nor a lot of thing's he'd wanted to be. However there was one thing, he wanted more then anything.
He let a small sigh escape him, a smile still on his large maw.
"I hope for love, I've not really been good in the past, so I hope to find someone just for me."
He smiled, a foolish dream, to him at least, but you had to have something right?
"What about you, Shairi?" He asked softly. "What are your hopes and dreams?"

-She nodded softly at the sentiment, having heard the same sort of wish over and over in her days. Most people wanted to find a mate, to settle down in her experience. But despite the fact that it was a common dream, didn't make it any less difficult or worthwhile, and she nodded softly.- "That's a very nice dream."
-Pondering a little in return she mulled through a few things she'd like.. To see all there was to see. To meet with her parents again. To have a friend to travel with. Love was one thing that didn't touch her mind however, having grown up never thinking it was possible. Finally she replied with a light smile.- "I think my dreams would be to see as much as I can possibly see. And maybe to have someone to see them with me?"
"You're my very first travelling companion."

The male watched her for a few long moment's as she spoke, thinking over her word's.
Friendship was a common thing, having a first ever friend was something that lasted forever, like a scar, or a memory of something incredible, or being blessed by the God's themselve's.
But love...that was very hard. To most of the female's he'd met, they acted like it was superficial, fleeting, worthless and just worth a one time try. Nobody stayed, nobody wanted to stay with a demon.
However, he had to smile as Shairi spoke of her dreams and of him being her first travelling companion.
"That's a lovely dream, Shairi...and you are my first travelling companion aswell."

-A soft giggle mingled with her voice, and she cast a whistful look towards the horizon, eyes settling softly on the small group of birds heading in seemingly the same direction as they were.- "How very fitting and exciting!"
"Perhaps.. we can help each other find what it is we're looking for?" -The statement was sheepish, a little uncertain as to how one could help another look for love. But if he knew how, she'd be willing to help the bes she could.
She quickly changed the subject though, giving a softly embarssed laugh as she began to hint around the question that was nipping at her again, as she found her legs beginning to tire once again already.- "Are you very strong Zimwi?"

He glanced up at the bird's that flew in their general direction, only to smirk a little, he found the way bird's could navigate rather interesting. The way they left once a year and such, still amazed him.
However, his thought of bird's was quickly shot down as Shairi spoke of 'helping each other what they where looking for' and his whisker's twitched a little before looking at her. How could she help him look for love? The lion shook his large mane before continuing on, not wanting to linger on the thought. "Uhhmm...yes...perhaps." In a way, he felt quite awkward talking about Shairi and thinking about her helping him find love.
But once again, he had to blink at her word's. Strong? Why did she ask that? He then noticed how tired she looked and cocked his head softly, before he smiled a little. The heroic lion soon got the gist of her word's.
"If your meaning 'strong enough to carry you', then yes."
Z'J suddenly moved to lower himself, looking up at her and waiting for her next move.

-Her tail twitched timidly to and fro beneath her, waiting for his answer and debating the next words. However as he spoke the words and spared her from it a joyful smile crossed her maw.- "Well... yes kind of.. if it isn't too much trouble, I mean."
-She stepped forward, watching him curiously, as if to make sure he was really sure, before she'd pull herself up.-

The large male watched her, laying there, legs in a position to stand up once she mounted his back as his green eye's looked up into her sky blue one's. He then smiled softly. "It's no trouble at all Shairi, hop on." He said, a fun loving purr trailing on the end of his word's as his tail twitched back and forth.
Zimwi debated how much she would weigh and braced himself, she may have been smaller than him, but she was still an adult and was in no way smaller then a cub. But he didn't mind...long as she didn't grip with her claws.

-With his approval she stepped forward as delicately as she manage, settling herself lightly on his back. She shifted back and forth a little, before finally letting her back legs and tail rest in a careful balance, waiting for him to stand.
His back was far broader then her, so it wasn't hard to stay on him at a standstill. And it's was comfortingly warm, black fur baked in the suns light.- "Alright. But if I get too heavy do tell me."
