I just wondered what kind of music you guys were into besides jazz...they're could've easily been an earlier thread for this, but I didnt' bother to check. Thanks. I listen to anything with good instrumentals, I like the good guitar players (King, Clapton, Page, Beck, etc.), then some experimental stuff (Mars Volta, Rush, The Boredoms, Bjork), I'm also pretty into some of the older emo stuff (Boy Life, Christie Front Drive, Fugazi, Jawbreaker, Rites of Spring), blues as well (pretty much anyone who knows how to play is good enough for me). Acoustic too, yeah, Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Donavon Frankenreiter, etc. I'll stop now. Thanks.

Oh i listen to many types of music
Swing/bigband, modern jazz, avant-gaurd jazz, free-jazz, acid jazz, jazz fusion.
J/K
I'm pretty open to alot of music i grew up in a very diverse urban part of Seattle. I listen to alot of different types there's just certain artists that i'm not really into.
Yes i listen to Hip Hop, Rap, and country as well as folk music and rock in it's many forms.
If i like it i'll listen to it i dont like limiting myself to a certyain genre.

Three letters, GBS. For those of you who don't know, that's the great Canadian east coast band of Great Big Sea. They do traditional East Coast and European music. They rock!

Other than jazz, eh? Oh dear....well, I like some oldies rock (Rolling Stones, baby!), electronica/dance, but the music I like most other than jazz is Classical music (from Baroque to late Romantic). I'm not too fond of modern music except (modern) jazz, cuz it never gets boring. I think a fair amount of modern music is kind of....missing something....
My two cents! 3nodding

I like all kinds of music genres. I tend to be eclectic in everything. I'm listening to Kaela Kimura right now. I'll list a few other non-jazz artist I like in now particular order. Bob Dylan Rush Mad Capsule Markets Suzanne Vega Ludacris Dead Kennedys Kreator Chimira Yes Joss Stone Alicia Keys The Roots Big Head Todd and The Monsters Ani Difranco Dixie chicks Delerium Mucky Pup Skinny Puppy Ect...ect...ect. Buddy Rich once said there are two kinds of music, good and bad. All genres have both of these. All genres have contributed politically, socially, and musically to the human community. I like them all. All genres also have their posers, sell-outs, duds, and coat-tail riders. I dis-like formula writers, homogeny, and rediculous lyrical content.* *Except for Beck. He's a genius at silly lyrical content. smile

kittykatana Three letters, GBS. For those of you who don't know, that's the great Canadian east coast band of Great Big Sea. They do traditional East Coast and European music. They rock! Rock is an understatement. So: for celtic/ east coast...well, anything with bagpipes and snares and violins? Hah. GBS, Natalie McMaster, that type of thing. A fiddle..is such a fantastic intrument. As are bagpipes. Next: Alternative. Delerium. Conjure One. VAST. Postal Service. Morcheeba. Jakalope. That's actually what I listen to..say 60% of the time? Classic Rock a few too many bands, say what? G&R, but no AC/DC. gah. April Wine biggrin Ramones. Nirvana. Rush. Bob Dylan. Lennon. You know the ones..But the best of all? Pink Floyd. They are MY nirvana. heart heart Modern Rock it's actually quite decent. From Greenday to the Killers, and everything in between. A bit of Nickelback, Default, Theory of a Deadman.. "heavy" or "death" metal/rock Kyuss. Love those guys. Queens of the Stone Age. etc. Classical Not so much, but that is what I play- so once in a while, I'll do some Schubert or Beethoven. I'm a big Beethoven fan. I once heard it referred to as "angry piano music". Yes xd Folk Simon and Garfunkle, Po' Girls, Be Good Tanyas. Emo/Screamo yes...Dashboard might be an example? Not a good one, but.. World Beat I'm grouping everything else here. Mostly African stuff (Oliver Mtukudzi seems to be known around here, as well as Swamp Mama Johnson and that sort of stuff). Japanese-ish..Nobuo Oematsu biggrin Medetteranean. alright, that's not all but I'm sick of thinking and typing. And to the person asking what we do, we talk about what we listen to other than jazz?

They were supposed to open up for Big Head Todd when I saw them at Red Rocks this last summer, but they couldn't make it. they are listed on my t-shirt though. BHT makes Red Rocks specific Ts every year cause that's his home town.
