Kate hummed very softly to herself, afraid someone would hear her. She wasn't the best singer - nor hummer - around, and she was shy when it came to things like this anyway. Stage fright is something she hadn't been able to overcome, despite having performed several times in school.

Tightening her ponytail, she rounded a corner and saw a figure. Illuminated by the lamppost, she could see that he was much older than herself. Hesitating, she approached him cautiously. He looked rather itimidating.

He works on the island. Kate thought to herself, spotting the symbol on his uniform. s**t, will she get into any kind of trouble for wandering around at this time of night?

"I'm Kate..." The teenager replied simply, wondering why she had always gotten herself into trouble nowadays. Wrapping her arms around her body to keep warm, she continued, "I uh... Live in one of the duplexes here... And am trapped here."

She said 'trap' with a strangled voice, like she was already used to it, but was still very uncomfortable with the fact.

"Don't... You know?" Kate asking, surprised at the fact. "You work here, don't you? I mean, you should know what the stupid doctor had been doing... Right?" She frowned, wondering if this man is lying. Studying him for a moment, she realised that he probably fell for the trap as well.

"I am not a test subject, and I most certainly did not volunteer for this." Kate replied, getting agitated as she emphasized on the word 'not'. "Don't you know that all the so called 'test subjects' were tricked here? That we're going to be here forever? To be transformed into... Things?"

She walked towards the man and stopped in front of him. Lifting up her head to look at the taller man, she added, "Don't you know that?"

"What's your name?" Kate asked, pushing her glasses up her nose. "I... Do believe that you had been fooled. Either that, or they obviously didn't tell you the full story when you were hired..."

She frowned, walking to the lamppost and leaning against it, "From what i know, these experiments were made on humans. To turn them into animals... I've seen some of them walking around, and... I..." She touched the area on her arm where she had been injected, and continued with her eyes lowered, "I will one day begin to change as well. I don't know what I'll be turning into, but I won't be able to go back to my family after this."

"The government don't know about these experiments," She looked at the male, "If only they do... But it'll be worse if we were able to go back. We'll be like freaks of nature... We're all trapped here, maybe for good."

"Alfe!" Doe yelled, trying not to laugh as the puppy turned back to look at her, panting slightly, looking like he was smiling back at her mischeiviously with a "Nyaa, nyaa, you can't catch me" look.

Fortunately,(not that she wasn't a good runner; she seemed to be improving), he halted in front of two people chatting. Catching up, Doe recognised one to be Kate and another man she didn't know.

Eyeing the logo on his uniform suspiciously, Doe scooped up the husky in her arms, "No more escapades," she scolded, "Hey Kate...and er..." her voice trailed off, waiting for an introduction.

Ulf carefully listened to the girl’s story while trying to find any signs of that could tell him whatever or not the girl actually believed her own story or if she was lying. Even though he couldn’t really find a good reason why she would lie to him if she did… So she’s a young student? He couldn’t help but think why the girl’s mother would let her become part of this experiment… unless she was telling the truth. The part of about the injection made it hard for him to keep his calm face. Did those immunization shots he had been given really contain the things the doctor had said? Or did it in fact contain some kind of chemical that would change him into an animal? “Pain? I’m used to pain… it would be the changing into an animal part that would be hard for me to handle” He could almost hear the fear in his voice. “Look… are you sure you’re joking or something… because… if you are… its really not funny”

Ulf suddenly noticed another girl approaching. He immediately notices that she had something in her arms. He couldn’t help but stare at the puppy. Normally he loves being around animals, especially dog. But after all the talk about people being changed into animals he couldn’t help but feeling uncomfortable, if this was all true, could that puppy be her transformed friend or family member? He shivered at the thought but he still managed to bring himself to reach out a hand to greet the newcomer. “Hallo, my name is Ulf. I recently arrived here” He looked down again at the puppy. Dared he ask if it was a transformed human or an ordinary puppy? Perhaps I can ask the question indirectly instead or directly? He pointed at the pup. “Who’s this then?”

"I would normally love a joke, but this isn't funny. Not one bit," Kate sighed, shaking her head. She looked at Ulf with a sad expression, "I wouldn't lie to you, I have no reason to... Besides, we're all stuck here. Turning into animals... And I used to think that becoming an animal would be so much better."

She ran a hand through her ponytail, twirling it with her fingers. Turning to look at Doe, she smiled a little, "Ah, he's cute... I wonder what a husky was doing outside in the rain by itself. Should be worth a lot of money..." She frowned, her voice turning agitated as she added, "Pet owners are so irresponsible nowadays! Leaving a puppy in the rain."

Bad things seem to come it groups, she thought miserably to herself, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
