if you dont know what counter to use, and it under 11 use japanese counters:

h-h-he has three eyes! EEEEEEEEEK!

みっみっ三つの眼があるのよ!うわ――――っ!

you can put no between what being counted, but if you put number at before thing being counted you do not need of no

三つの目
目三つ

both mean three eye

i was hoping you would do a lesson on counters. smile it's very important and i've found that japanese learners sometimes struggle with it quite a bit. we don't really have counters in english, so the concept is sometimes hard for beginners (they often question why it's not okay to just say the number by itself, such as "ichi neko ga iru" rather than "ippiki neko ga iru").

just a couple things to add. people should know that there are variations of the counters depending on the number, so if they know that they are going to be counting things, they should investigate if there are any irregularities in the pattern. highly irregular counters (like 日/nichi/days) should be studied very carefully. it's not a uniform pattern, such as ichi-nichi, ni-nichi, san-ichi, yon-ichi. not only that, but people should be aware of very slight irregularities too, such as hitori/futari in the 人/nin/people counter.

I don't think this got mentioned, but often, 3 and 6 in counters tend to be awkward. For instance,

二本 「にほん」 nihon
三本 「さんぼん」 sanbon
六本 「ろっぽん」 roppon

or

二匹 「にひき」 nihiki
三匹 「さんびき」 sanbiki
六匹 「ろっぴき」 roppiki

It seems more difficult than it is, I think. Just watch out for 3 and 6... and sometimes 1. ninja
