EDIT: Due to Pro-life protests, we are no longer requiring (but instead 'requesting') the use of post styles; you are free to use your signatures. We heartily encourage the Blue Daisy drive regardless. We will be taking the moral high ground on this one, but to do it, we have to make the campaign as nonoffensive as possible. It's Time for Action. We're the biggest political guild in all of Gaia. We know we have logic and rationale on our side. We know this is the time to speak up so we can have an impact outside of Gaia. Operation Black Fetus will occur from August 1, 2006 to September 30, 2006, to fully cover the start of the new school year and the end of summer. During this timeframe, we will launch an all-forum offensive (yes, that means OUTSIDE of this guild) wherein we will inform, quote, cite, and incite to make ourselves known. HOW TO DO YOUR PART:100x100 icons are being made for your usage for this mission. If you wish to make your own, please post them in this thread for approval. The idea is to provide a series of icons for usage as post styles for ALL your posts for the next two months. As we know not all of your posts are going to necessarily be about abortion, the icons available will range from thought-provoking to basic "I'm using this image because I'm pro-choice." icons. Why in post styles? Signatures can be ignored. By putting it in our post styles, we encourage it to be seen. All icons will be clearly marked as Pro-Choice Icons so people understand that it's not necessarily related to the actual post content. What if People Complain? If people start complaining that your icons are off-topic, select a less offensive icon from our selection. If the complaints are centered around your actual position instead (i.e. you've pissed off a pro-lifer), use the information in our Library of Logic to refute their positions, or consult us on how to deal with them! In addition, we encourage all pro-choice members to carry bouquets of blue daisies. If you don't already have a bouquet of this type that you like, we suggest using blue or green inks for the wrapping and ribbons. Why are we doing this for two months? We want to get people ready for the school year, especially for those Gaians who might be going off to college or otherwise having to deal with new and strange people who might try to restrict their thinking. With any luck, we'll arm their minds with all they need to know in order to defend themselves! We'll also be introducing our new tees as Operation: Black Fetus rolls on. Icons available thus far: We're looking for more Bouquet models and icon makers. Please, no animated icons, and they all need to be 100x100 pixels. Also, we will NOT allow icons that slander, debase, or otherwise insult pro-lifers and their religious/political beliefs (Besides the blatantly obvious).

Could we have one that parodies Lifer quotes, to drive home the point?
I liked the line, "Because Life has value...monetary value" and then have a picture of a white baby with a price tag on it.
"Pro-choice and proud: because the best gift that I can give to my children is the gift of being wanted."

"Pro-choice and proud: because the best gift that I can give to my children is the gift of being wanted." I like the second quote but not the first. We're not here to infer racial prejudices, at least not unless we're referring to the adoption system's flaws or similar. I would like at least a few 'lukewarm' images we can just use whenever, a few with actual information or slogans, and maybe a few that point out just how dire the situation is.

Brilliant idea, but watch out for the unoriginal, uncreative pro-lifers to copy the plan/idea in attempt to spite us.
Still, activism is great.
By the way, are a bouquet of blue daisies expensive?

Grip of Death Brilliant idea, but watch out for the unoriginal, uncreative pro-lifers to copy the plan/idea in attempt to spite us. Still, activism is great. By the way, are a bouquet of blue daisies expensive? Daisies are damned cheap. the most expensive part might be finding blue ink and/or paying the fee to make them. As for the Pro-life backlash... that's why I'm trying to get it organized in a very short time frame, in order to counteract whatever effort they make. Keep in mind, though, that there are a lot more of 'us' than 'them', and we can easily 'escalate' the situation enough to make them look worse if we have to.

I can make daisy bouquets for members who can't afford them. 3nodding Don't know how to work out the details, but I've got the funds right now for at least a few members... maybe add it as a service in my shop? Is that okay?

I don't have flash installed on my primary computer...so I can't access towns to get the stuff for daisies.
Can I get them on the marketplace or something?
If not, can I pay someone to get some for me?

Yes you can get a bouquet on the market. they have single daiys bouquet, the one my avatar is holding (forgot the name) , but the one I'm holding is about 500 - 900 gold and then they have a delux bouquet which is anywhere from 1,500 -2,500 gold
Oh and veled, may I suggest moving this thread to maybe one of the subforums - like the fetal containment subforum so this idea and thread can stay a bit more hidden from pro lifers who may be nosing around our guild ninja

eck I forgot to ask this too;
Should we be assigned to forums Veled? like so we don't have a dozen or more pro choicers in the ED, but none in the GCD, or technology
like make a list of who is going to be in what forums the most so we can see which forums need more people to be in them. razz
EDIT: there are some 95 forums on gaia gonk
and using the amount of people who are on the frapper map (since those people tend to be the most active it seems) 31. that means everybody would need to take 3 or 4 forums apiece to get a pro choicer in every forum on gaia

I could use a bouquet, myself.
By the way, I've failed to make the adequate connection to flowers of a certain color and species grouped together in any color paper wrapping and/or any color ribbon and pro-choice activism, unless it is just an arbitrary but unusual theme to make pro-choicers avatars stand out more.
wink
ya'll, just kiddin.

To answer all questions:
1) NO, I am not hiding this. The PLG has recently gone 'hidden', preventing us from delving into their forums to spy on them and THEIR new blog, so it would be doing a disservice to hide our actions just because we're afraid of backlash.
Let's face it, We're going to piss them off and get their attention in a big way once this s**t begins. To be perfectly blunt, what we are about to embark on here is 'border encroachment' by taking it outside of the guilds in this manner. If we don't get at least some sort of backlash, we'll be able to declare the whole damn guild neutered.
2) Blue Daisies are some of the cheapest flowers in the marketplace. If anyone seriously has issue getting the 100 gold to make one little bouquet, speak to us. Seriously.
3) If anyone wants to set up 'forum assignments' to help spread our message, please start with the organizing. We need to keep in mind that the ED, GD, and GCD need more people than, say, some of the obscure Media forums.
Right now, I'm more concerning with building up the media we need to launch this operation properly. We'll have plenty of time to reorganize our efforts, and even if we do 'assign' forums to people, you still have to be on-topic in those forums.

B-but not everyone has enough gold to have a pretty pretty blue-papered or green papered bouquet! They should speak to us, too! Anyone can have a blue daisy bouquet. Colored paper bouquets have more potential for "marking" as pro-choice. =o
Besides, I have like 1,538 daises now. Srsly. COME GET THEM, PEOPLE! xd

I can try to get list going of all the forums and the people who wish to be in them.
also I know how it would stand to reason to get people into the forums they are most comfortable with then to throw them into another and have them be off topic. like for instance I'm a GDer. I can relate to most of the GDers and be able to post in the GD and life issues with ease. but I can also post in the GCD or ED also (I can do the chatter box too even though it scares me a bit xp ) thought I probably wouldn't be that great in a forum like Minishops or entertainment 3nodding
will anytype of media do?
