Shuura

At last, FINALLY! Finals week was over, and the semester was done with. Shuura wasn't sure how well she did on some of the final exams and she didn't particularly care. What mattered was that school was finally over, and summer was here.

Unfortunately, this also meant that Shuura was getting kicked out of her dorm. Which meant that she needed to move out. Which meant that she need to....pack.

"DAMMIT." Shuura sat on her suitcase in an attempt to get it to close, but it wasn't closing. She tried bouncing on it--no use. Finally, she stood up and went across the room and started running at the suitcase to gather enough momentum for a lunging jump. "OUF." She landed on the suitcase.

Click. The suitcase snapped shut.

"Finally!" Shuura breathed huffily. She glanced around at her bare dorm room. The last suitcase had finally been shut and all her belongings have been stuffed into 3 huge suitcases and 4 boxes of varying sizes. For a notoriously poor college student, she realized that she sure possessed a suprising amount of junk.

...Most of it stolen.

Tossing the last suitcase out of the window and into the "borrowed" shopping cart that was located right below the it, the somewhat irascible teen surveyed the empty room one last time.

"Right, Vyn. Time to haul a**." Jules' place was all the way in Gambino, which meant they would have to take the train. Again.

Vyn floated nearby. In her hands was one of the last boxes that Shuura had been unable to fit in the cart. Sitting on the box in a plastic baggie was Red, the goldfish Renhei had given Vyn at the Matsuri. While Shuura had a lot of difficulty with that box, Vyn, appearantly, was a lot stronger than one would have expected for a thing that had only a head, a pair of arms, and a set of mammary glands--she was holding the box quite effortlessly as she followed Shuura down the stairs, her yellow eyes on the innocently-swimming fishy that, for some miraculous reason, hadn't died yet.

Before long, they were on their way and on the train, headed to Gambino, where the notorious boy-genius Julian had offered them a place to stay for the summer.

"Well, here we are, I guess."
Shuura squinted at the map in her hands. Julian had said that his apartment complex was right by the lab, but--"Holy s**t. This place is freakin' huge."

s**t, s**t, s**t. Tsu cursed over and over again as he made a dash off the train line and turned the corner heading to the labs. He knew he was WAY behind schedule and nothing was gonna change that matter. Why did it have to be today of all days though? The day he was looking forward to, getting out of the cramped office, off the couch and into an actual apartment. Sure it was Julian Sweet that was renting the place out to him... Just how rich was this guy anyway?!... but that was all the more reason to be upset that he was running late.

It wouldn't have been bad if Tsu had been able to time out his trip to Aekea properly... but ever since the soul capture incident, his watch had been out of synch with the rest of the world. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Ha. What a crock of bull, Tsu lamented bitterly. Now was not the time to complain though. Nor was it the time to grab up all his stuff and move it in all at once. Now was the time to make a panicked dash to the lab to and then to the apartment complex so he could finish up the paper work and get a copy of the key for the apartment. Hopefully he could make it in some semblance of "on time" but that was looking more and more doubtful with each passing second.

It was not the most dignified place for one to sit, but Julian found he cared less and less. The young man had seated himself on the front steps of what he supposed was a rather large apartment complex, idly beginning to wait for his new tenants to arrive. It had been years and years since any of the floors had been given away. Julian adored his privacy like an especially quiet lover, and was loathe to give all the peaceful, quiet moments he had come to love away. However, necessity declared that Ms. Shuura needed somewhere to move after her dorm was shut down for the summer. Then, opportunity added that allowing Dr. Tsuki an apartment would only be beneficial to the over all Julian Sweet agenda.

Yeah right, Julian had might have replied, but it seemed his opinion was not important in the large scheme of things.

He saw the young woman first, and finally stood up with a flourish. It was a quick walk down the remaining steps and with a few more strides they were within comfortable talking distance. "Hello, Ms. Shuura."

"Jules." Shuura greeted with a huff, kicking the shopping cart forward. Glaring dubiously at the very grand, but obviously multi-storied mansion, she added, "I do hope that either this place has working elevators, or that you're a hell lot stronger than you look." She frowned slightly and looked at Jules, reconsidering. "Actually, you look pretty strong," she decided. And jumped onto the shopping cart. "Wanna push me inside the new summer abode of wonder, Jules?"

Vyn looked around her with interest. There were some plants growing out in the front of the house, but they were mostly wilted for some reason. A glass-covered area glinted off to the side, though, and inside the glass there was a lot of green. Vyn unconsiously drifted fowards a few feet, wanting to go to that green glassy place.

"Where's goo-boy?" Shuura added as an afterthought.

Tsu was only about half a block away when he saw a girl pushing a rather large shopping cart full of junk up the stairs to the rather large apartment complex that Julian had pointed out to him before. He was cursing his habits for once in his life. Perhaps I should cut back from my one pack an hour smoking.... Tsu considered making a mad dash jumping over people diving to get out of his way.

"WA---IT!!!!!!!" Tsu hollered, making a mad dash. At this rate you'd think the lazy and scrawny girl with a rather busty raevan - judged to be Shuu and Vyn- had made off with something of his. Who knows... half the stuff in her cart could have been jacked from people after all.

Skipping up the last few stairs, Tsu was out of breath, a couple minutes late... but he was there. That had to count for something.

"He said he preferred to wait inside," Julian murmured in reply to the woman's inquiry over Gage. Originally, he had been rather disgruntled at his Raevan's decision to stay in the complex, but he supposed there were good enough reasons for it. It took very little information for a deduction involving the shadow Frei to be made.

The young scientist competely ignored his new tenant's request for him to push her cart, deciding it was not even worth the energy it would take to frown. Besides, the good doctor's brother had finally arrived, and it seemed only cordial to notice his presence.

"Dr. Tsuki."

It was only personal preference that kept the notification strictly to the other man's title.

"WA---IT!!!!!!!" someone hollered from behind. Shuura twisted around to see who had shouted--some random hobo-looking guy who was panting like a madman. But wait....Jules referred to him as "doctor"?

She shrugged. Despite maintaining a decidedly unhealthy lifestyle, the hedonistic teenager had never really been plagued with any sort of sickness or injury. She'd faked plenty of sicknesses and injuries in order to get out of unwanted situations, of course, but never actually had any. As such, she'd never had to consort with medical professionals on a regular basis and didn't particularly care to start now. Despite this, Shuura couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that she had seen him somewhere.

Hmmph. Couldn't have been anyone too important, anyways.

Vyn, on the other hand, remembered the man from the Matsuri festival. Her disturbing yellow-black eyes dimmed into a warm golden color in recognition, and she set down the box she was holding to give him a slight curtsy.

"Ah Julian, thank you for waiting. I'm sorry for being a little behind schedule today." Tsu decided to give formalities the upper hand. Nodding at the girl not really giving any heed to her. First glance just told him that he should watch his possessions closely. Finally, he turned to the raevan that was with her. "Ah Vyn, so good to see you again." Tsu didn't need to bother mentioning it was their third meeting... she probably wouldn't have remembered the first time anyway.

"Doctor, this is Ms. Shuura. Ms. Shuura, Dr. Tsuki. Are we all introduced?" Julian's tone left no room for arguement. He pivoted where he stood, starting back up the steps and towards the main entrance without another word. It was a matter of principle that had him holding the front door open for his new tenants, but the look on his face made it obvious he wished to keep the tour concise. "Please, enter, and I'll show you to your new..."

The word sounded strange and clipped as it emerged from his mouth, "Homes."

There was only one proper adjective to describe the main lobby as a whole, and that word was "orderly". While it held no obvious sense of decoration, the room possessed an appropiately polished front desk, a clean tile floor, and several paintings hanging on any of the spacious walls. Nothing about the chamber was paticularly poetic or colorful, but it had an air of professionalism that just screamed "somehow Julian was forced to design this room".

Shuura nodded carelessly at the introductions, not really listening. "Yeah yeah." Neither did she question how the guy knew of Vyn--she simply wasn't paying attention.

Still sprawled across the cart, the ponytailed girl somehow managed to convince Vyn to push her up to the front doors. If there was anything that could be said for this extra floating baggage she somehow got stuck with taking care of, it was that Vyn had always been rather placid and mild-mannered and, although a trifle slow sometimes, Shuura could usually manage to convince the floaty thing to do what she wanted. Which, of course, was the only reason that kept Shuura from ignoring the Frei entirely. Now, if only Vyn could learn how to clean and cook......... she plotted evilly as she hopped off the loaded cart, up the steps and into the main lobby of Jules' apartment complex.

She resisted the urge to snort derisively, and settled for sarcasm instead. "Wooooow, Jules. This place is so. You."

And it was----Stiff, uptight, and boring. And also kind of stuffy.

The starkness of the lobby really matched Julian well, as Shuura suggested. Julian could have been showing off a hospital lobby for all Tsu knew and it would still be functional... and pristine.

"I couldn't agree with Shuura any more, Julian. This place really is very suiting to you." Tsu squeezed out a weak smile.

He couldn't help but worry about what the apartments would look like. It didn't matter how desparate for a place to stay he was, if they had all pads and were a sheer white color, he'd have to do something about the room... even if it voided his security deposit.

"Anyway, I look forward to seeing these new homes... and getting on with the paperwork as soon as possible." Tsu finished as politely as possible. Still there was always an unsettling feeling having to stay around Julian for extended periods of time.
