Jamaa's spent days out away from the Mpinzani pack, something has been attacking his mind for the last couple of nights. His dreams brought back the memories of that rainy night. The night he lost his mind and nearly lost two of the family he loved most. Yakuti was almost scared enough to hate him forever and Jamaa was on the brink of attacking the hyena pup. Temari was furious and he almost lost her. That night was not one to be repeated.

But what really picked at him was why he never spoke those three longing words of affection to her. Did he not love her enough? Did he feel that she did not love him in return....? Jamaa had known Temari for ages. Since they first met, they've been her pregnancy, her labor, her company, her losses, and even her depression. He had waited too long to say those three words, he said them during his mind was lost so did it mean anything?

Jamaa had decided that to prove to himself and to his mate that he truely did love her. But how? He had to get her away from the pack to a more private place...his den? Yakuti's den? Yakuti was now in the Elephant Graveyard, so the pack was sort of vacant. But will Temari go? Will Dhati let him take her away from the pack for the night?

If all went well then the main goal of the pack will be in reach, the bring new life into the world and care for them. Jamaa's objective was that of the pack and his everlasting commitment to his mate, his love, his life, his Temari.

The once fast paced female was slowly and surely getting better, she could run faster than she'd been able to for a week or so, her tail was just now starting to curl above her back again. Slowly, slowly, slowly she got better.

In fact, the adult streaked across the grounds of the Mpinzani pack, kicking up immense amounts of dust from her speed.

Only to fall down on her shoulder as her right leg gave out and she skidded across the ground for a bit until her back smashed into a tree. A groan worked it's way from the adult female's muzzle and she sat up stiffly with her golden back to the tree and laughed a bit. Standing once again she worked her shoulder and yawned up to the sky.

"I'll race with the wind again." She said quietly to herself.

Jamaa returned to the clearing after speaking with Dhati. He only had to wait for Temari now. Jamaa sat down, sitting tall. His golden eyes focused on the horizon. If he waited she would come some time. He just had to be patient.

As the golden male sat there thoughts and questions ran through his head. Is Temari ready for such an event? Was Goma's calculations and knowledge correct? How many would they have if Temari had a litter? Would there be a boy? Would there be a girl? What if they disliked Jamaa for some reason? What will Temari do after the pups are born? Will Demani still see him as a father? Would Poki? Would Kizaki still love him if he told her she had cousins? Was he ready for this?

"Goma...."

"Hey Jamaa, when are you going to mate with Temari? I've seen you together for like....forever! You love her don't ya? Well, I've been watching you wild dogs for some time and came up with something. ...... If my calculations are correct, you will have the pups shortly after! Prove to her that you love her, you big brute."

"...Jamaa just hopes you are right..."

A sigh floated from a golden muzzle as the female gazed up at the fluffy white clounds for a few moments, her emerald colored eyes glowed with her spirit. Standing slowly she stretched her back legs for a moment until she heard the tell-tale pop and she let a grin pass over her muzzle slowly.

Inhaling deeply the female suddenly shot off the ground, her legs moved so fast that unless you were looking with slow motion you would never see how fast they were going. Her tail was forced out behind her and her ears were pinned to her head as tears were pulled from her eyes. Fur rippled over the strong muscles in the little dog's body and she flew over the ground at such a speed that none alive would probably ever match it, though there had been those that had tried over years.

A slight smell worked it's way past her muzzle and the female put the breaks on quickly, her back legs kicking up dust.

Jamaa. A smile crossed her muzzle and she turned her direction towards her mate, taking off at a slower pace.

Jamaa smiled when a odor came to him. He instantly knew it well since he was already everyday, morning, and night. Temari. His long tail swinged on ground until it imprinted an angel's wing. He just sat there, straight back, stared straight ahead. In the distance was that little, but growing larger by seconds, golden spot that he had been waiting for. The male smiled and howled out calling to his mate.

He was going to take the plunge, he was going to ask her and hope for his desired reply. If all works out well, he will be one very happy dog.

The dog looked at himself through his mind's eye. He wanted to be at least presentable. He pawed at his hair tuft that he had grown over the months, and straightened out any fur that stuck out. He wasn't that good at keeping himself neat yet.

Temari came to a stop in front of her mate with her strong back legs and toppled into him from the shock of stopping so quickly. Sending both of them toppling she wagged her tail and looked down at her muddy colored mate with a giant smile and panted contently. Normally she wasn't this goofy, but because she could run again she figured that was the reason.

Her fluffy tail wagged back and forth so fast that anyone would get a headache from looking at it and her eyes danced brightly.

"Love! What're you doing sitting her looking Soooo serious when it's gorgeous out? Come and run with me?" she made a fake pout at him and grinned a little.

Jamaa stood still as Temari bowled him over. Somehow he managed to be on top. His paws laid planted on each side of Temari's head as he smiled down to her, "Hey there, beautiful. I see you are back to your running habits." he teased licking her lips. A murr escaped him as he nuzzled into her. Right now they were both goofy, but Jamaa was already goofy to begin with. The muddy male licked her happily as chuckles came from him, "Temari, I love you." he sighed. She was magnificant, beautiful, and loving. What more could a male ask for?

"Temari, I want to take you somewhere. Follow me?" he asked. Without waiting for an answer he started off from the pack lands to the Pride Lands. At first it was a walk, then a trott, and then into a quick sprint. He knew Temari could catch him, and he was hoping for that. He just wanted to get her away from the pack lands and any.....wandering eyes and ears.

If she were a cat Temari would have all but purred as Jamaa licked all over her as much as possible. A slight blush worked it's way under her golden fur and she licked his cheeks and muzzle and mouth in return, though a little more shyly than he was.

"I love you too Jamaa, though I'm sure you know that already." She said, giving him a sultry smile in response and nuzzling into the fur on her mate's neck softly.

When he got up and started running her ears pricked. Every time she saw someone running she loved it, it was like a game. Her ears laid back in readiness and the golden female shot off over the ground, kicking up a storm of copper dust in her wake. Temari was at Jamaa's side in moments and she licked his cheek playfully before shooting off ahead of him.

Jamaa smiled as Temari brushed past him. He was glad that she was able to run again after recovering from her injury not too long ago, he was probably more than her. He felt guilty that he had inflicted the pain on her in the first place, now he's glad that she is alright. Sometimes he remembered when they talked alone, one on one. She once said that she liked running, running made her feel all her problems were swept away, so what was sweeping from her now? Jamaa could only think of what, but soon enough those too were swept away. Jamaa simply smiled as persued his mate.

"Hey, I've been working at this, too, you know." he spoke as he quickly bolted ahead, he wanted to make sure he was ahead. Besides, wasn't he the one leadering her? Jamaa laughed playfully as ran.

Soon his den, the family's den, came into view. It's low set entrance still shown slightly and swiftly he slipped inside through the Owner's den open roof entrance, the one he created years ago accidentally.

Inside he panted, out of breath, Temari was fast, he was a being beyond the wind itself. He knew no matter how much he trained, she will always be faster. The copper brown dog sat down and stared at the wall behind it. It was covered in paw prints, from one side to the next. He stared at one in particular. It was much larger than the others and it was placed next to his own. Jamaa remembered it well, and who exactly it belonged to. The wall of the owners of the den. Jamaa reached up and put his paw where he marked the wall, then to the larger mark. "Yakuti...." he whispered, he missed his hyena son. He didn't care if he was of another species, he cared not for blood. He only cared that he loved the little hyena as his own, and from that he had to let the little one go. Of course, he knew where he was from Goma and Ger, but he could not interfere in the hyena's life too much. The tall canine wanted him to grow up the life of his species, a life of a hyena. Jamaa sort of cried inside remembering when they first met, the little pup wandering around aimlessly with no adult around. The night Jamaa lost his mind almost losing his son. The day he gave the den to Yakuti, the same day he injured him. Only know he saw him in his dreams and thoughts. Someday he would gather up the courage to see him again, when he was older.

He could hear Temari's footsteps getting louder. He wiped his tears and turned to the chamber's entrance awaiting her arrival. At least, he has his mate to keep him company. "What took you so long?" he teased with a playful grin.

When he jetted past her the only thing that Temari could think of was that she wanted to run past him, to goad him into racing her the way she had so many others in the past. But instead he jetted into the small opening he had left in the ground to mark his den.

She froze, fear washing over her body for that place where she'd met the hyena and nearly the end of her life all in one fell blow. Of course it had been before when she'd met Yakuti, before when she'd told him that she would happily take him in as her son and when she started considering him as such. But this was too much. Her stomach all but dropped when she remembered the pain that had flashed through her shoulder so badly that night.

Shuddering for a moment, the golden female forced herself to go around and walk into the cave enterance. It smelled so strongly of Yakuti she almost couldn't stand the fact that she hadn't seen him in so long. She missed the little blue and white bumbler that wanted her to teach him to run as fast as she did.

"Jamaa." Temari said after she saw his wet fur. Walking forward she nuzzled under his chin for a moment before leaning up and licking at the wet spots under his eyes and on his cheeks. "You'll see him again. I promise."

Jamaa just smiled, "I know. Someday when he is a true hyena." he replied, tears still forming occasionally. "Do you think he would attack me, you know out of reflex? He is a hyena and he is living like one." Jamaa smiled at the fact that he could possible be hurt from him, or worse. Though in truth, he would know that his son has grown up to take on his old man. Jamaa licked Temari and returned his gaze to the wall.

"This den has been in my family for years. Each generation, a pup becomes the owner of the den. That pup is born and raised in this very den until he is ready and able to conceive his own. So the cycle continues." Jamaa explained looking at the vast walls of prints. "I was born here with my family. My mother was forced away with my siblings by my father so he could teach me. I was raised in his place, puphood to the day I met you." the brown dog smiled, "I want to continue that tradition, but I will break some of it's rules. I don't want my son to be taken away from his brothers and sisters. I want them to be together, with us." Jamaa nuzzled Temari gently and a soft murr escaped him.

"Temari, I want to prove my love to you. I've waited too long to say I love you and I almost lost you then."

"Not all hyenas attack everything you know. I've met a few that are as nice as you or me." She laughed a little and licked his muzzle lovingly. "I think he'll know you and he'd never attack you."

Her ears flopped forward as she listened to her mate patiently explain his family and his heritage. It felt like a rock stabbing into her, or like another arrow had pierced her heart even. She didn't know her own heritage, she didn't know her family's customs at all. Or even if they had them.

But she didn't let any of it show on her face or even in her body language. Her pain and her thoughts she hid from her mate so that he didn't know that she was hurting for not knowing her own past, her own heritage. Jamaa didn't have to know Temari's pain, because as much as he seemed to love her he could never understand it.

And she didn't want him to.

But there it was. The words she'd wanted to hear for so long from his muzzle and she'd just kept telling herself over and over that he would say them whenever he got around to it. That he obviously loved her because he showed it to her in his actions and his words. He'd even started speaking right just because of her.... but tears streamed down her cheeks as he finally said it and a sob ripped from her golden muzzle.

For once the mother of three and counselor to all that would care had no words to even say.

Jamaa smiled and pulled his mate close to him. She may not know it but he has grown a lot, not just physically. From learning how to speak properly, he had learned some things being with her. He knew that she had fragmented memories of the past, she didn't know much of her family or anything related. Jamaa knew but he didn't show. It hurt him to hide things from her, but he was sure she had her fair share to hide as well. Nothing could tear them apart, no secret, no action, no words.

"Temari, I love you. You mean everything to me. I only started living when the day I met you." he said, wrapping his large paws around her. He could hold her forever if he was able. He could love her forever, and he would. He could be with her, her side, in her heart and all. Temari was everything to him. "If it was a sin to love, Temari. Then consider me the worst wicked soul on this earth." he spoke. Ever word he spoke, every gesture he made was sincere and true. He loved her more than life itself.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 07, 2006 4:28 pm

Another sob pulled from her as she curled into her mate's body, not even sure if she could see out of her eyes any longer. Her heart beat harder than it had in a long time and she suffered through trying to slow it down so she could speak back to him and tell him just how much he meant to her. She realized now that she'd never said enough, that she never let him know how much she loved him with every ounce of her soul, how thankful she was of him for not leaving her when the pups she'd had weren't his.

And how patient he always was with her.

"Jamaa..." Temari finally managed to get out, though it came in an almost croak a far cry from her normally soft voice, "If you even knew how much I loved you, then you would know you don't have to justify yourself at all. If I could give you my spirit and everything in me I would. I'd even give up running if it meant the difference between staying with you or not." She curled into him as hard as she could, making it almost hard to tell where brown ended and gold began.

Her heart swelled slightly and she licked her mates muzzle so softly it had to have felt like nothing, though she drug her tongue right across where she'd scarred him so. She still felt so sorry for hurting him and the tears fell anew at the thought of her ever hurting him enough to lose him. Temari wasn't sure what she would ever be able to do without him. She would probably die when he did because her heart would shatter to the winds.

Jamaa held her tight, he could feel her pain as if it was his own. Everything they went through, they went through together. The day Temari had her litter. The day Kizaki disappeared. The day Temari saved him from himself. Everything he went through she was right their beside him. He felt her pain, and he also felt her love for him. He didn't care if the pups weren't his, he loved them and in return they loved him. They cared for the little hyena pup, now he is back with his own species living the life of his own.

Tears of pain, joy, happiness, and sorrow streamed from his eyes and fell down to her. He could feel everything swelling up inside of him. He loved her so much. Then she spoke. Give up running? That was one thing that meant everything to her, sometimes Jamaa felt more than himself. It was what made her happy, free, and wonderful. To give that up meant that there was something more important to her and that was him. "Temari, I would give up everything for you." he murmured, embracing her warmth body and all.

The male felt his mate's tongue run over his scar, it made him laugh, "A constant reminder that I have some like you to care for me." he said with a smile. If Temari disappeared, Jamaa would do everything to find her even if it meant dying. He could not stand being without her now. He held her tight. "I thank the stars each night....that I have you nearby to hold onto tight." he said, licking her in return. He nuzzled her softly, "Temari, I would do anything for you. Just say the words and it will come true."
