Felt like taking the initiative and post this as paper target for y'all to pounce on.
RED FORCE (oppostition) ARGUMENTS: By invading and occupying Iraq, the coalition forces is effectively breaking down what delicate balance of power exists for that regions. The phrase "No man is an island" applies also to global politics in today's increasing interdependent world arena.
By invading Iraq, the coalition is in effect destroying two power balance that had allowed the world to stay in relative peace over the last few decades.
First point, the removal of saddam is a great upset of balance in the middle east region. Like it or not, the mostly secular Saddam is a permanent check on his more fundamentally minded neighbors. When he was removed from power, one can see an increased presence and surge in power for the islamic fundamentalists residing in Iraq. Shi'ite leader such as Muqtada Al Sadr forming a political/religious bond. Not to mention the relaxed border during the conflict allowed for fundamentalists from Iraq's neighboring countries to flood in amid the chaos. If the goal of the GWOT is truly on reducing the power and influence of terrorists.fundamentalist, haven't we in actuality created yet another battle ground for these who wish america ill? And the removal of the secular Saddam regime from power literally elimiates one of the theoratical fronts his fundamentalist neighbors envisioned facing?
Basing on the point mentioned above about islamic fundamentalists flooding and flourishing in Iraq, I would also like to point out that we have also created infinite oppurtunities for these men to do Americans harm. Namely, the american servicemembers who are in Iraq. Before the occupation, the US and it's people have a natural protection from these terrorists: Distance. Now we are literally delivering thousands of our citizens onto their doorstep where they needn't travel but a few miles to find an American to kill for their great jihad!
Point two, what the US did to invade Iraq drastically weakened it's international prestige, and threw a monkey wrench in the global balance of power. In the post cold war era, the balance of power between US and USSR has been replaced with US being the remaining superpower and a power vacumn of opposition that had no need to be filled. By taking such a drastic stance against it's traditional allies, US may have infact triggered a global demand for opposition against US policy. Now that US has flexed it's muscle as the sole superpower, I wouldn't doubt that many other nations are left with a distaste in their mouth. Now instead of working with the US, they may actively seek to shave US' power just to avoid a future incident like the Iraq war. This may give China a role as a viable alternative to US as both an economic and strategic partner for these countries. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, I need to stop there before I start vomitting on my keyboard. FIRE AWAY!

What you did was recreate exactly the kind of crackpot that most of us are too smart for. You know, the kind that is pointless to try to reason with, so we can't be bothered to d**k with them.

Actually, the kind if crackpots you emulated are the reason I left ED-P long ago. It just wasn't worth the time and effort.

Quite a Red Force arguement. For a minute I thoguht it was a T-72 MBT xd german_bar_wench What you did was recreate exactly the kind of crackpot that most of us are too smart for. You know, the kind that is pointless to try to reason with, so we can't be bothered to d**k with them. Of course there are going to be people who can't be reasoned with. The point of continuing to take them on though is not so much to try to convince them (which isn't likely to happen) but to convince the others who read the discussion that they are wrong. When something goes unchallanged, people are likely to think that it can't be and will accept their arguements at face value.

Yes, which is why I am on about half a dozen sites in this exact same arguement, and winning. Perhaps I should stay out of the debate school considering I am winning. Or I could make some debate school threads by cutting and pasting stupid arguements.

I'm more interested in the endgame. Anyone on EDP complain about the fighting in al-Qaim yet? How many of them even realize what it's about?
This is POTENTIAL ENDGAME we're talking ...
