Croak.

Moyo grinned, stretching her paws into the sandy earth below her. It was right there, right before her...
In it's slimiest, greenest glory.

Croak.

These days, frogs weren't the most appetizing thing in the world, but a girl's gotta eat.
Moyo moved a bit closer, sliding on the soft, grass-covered ground on her stomach.

A few low bushes swept over her back as she crawled under them, slinking around in camoflague.

Croak.

As she neared the frog, only a few feet away, Moyo failed to see that the scenery behind the amphibian (sitting on a rather large log) was not the same. And it should have been. But she wasn't paying attention, oh no. She only wanted the meat.

Croak.
Jump!

And miss! How could she have missed that? It was right there!

But she had missed it; the frog had jumped to the left at the last possible second, leaving Moyo to land on her feet behind the log.

But that's just it: she didn't land on her feet. Behind the log was a hill, which explained the unnoticed change of scenery in the near-jungle.
So Moyo, who was mumbling and growling curses under her breath, rolled herself into a ball and thundered down the hill, sweeping branches and leaves with her.

SPLASH.

A small pond stopped her tumbling, leaving her drenched and thoroughly mad.

"Stupid...tree...frog...fault..." she grumbled, climbing out onto the bank and shaking herself off.

An eyebrow rose from its cloth prison as the god of all the lonely souls in the world sat and watched the lioness and her frog catching routine. It really was immensly amuzing. What she thought she was going to accomplish by catching one of those things made the god wonder a bit.

Standing slowly from his spot in the tree, the god walked slowly over the tree branch, his abnormal wings fluttering in the slight wind. In one fluid jump he was down on the ground and walking over the dirt and sand like a gust of air. His paws didn't leave marks, his weight didn't force a sound from him, his movements never brought about any kind of recognition from the animals nearby even as he walked past them.

The god could honestly say that as long as he was focused, none could see him unless he truly felt they should. However, with an activation of the Eye on his blindfold the god let down his shimmering guard and looked at the girl that was only slightly smaller than himself.

And wingless. That was good, it meant she most likely wasn't a goddess.

A smirk spread over Athrun's muzzle and with a gentle movement he caught a frog under one of his large white paws.

"There's a sience to it you know."

Moyo jumped a bit at Athrun's voice; she hadn't even heard him walk up.
"A science?" she repeated, disbelieving. She turned her head to face him, one eyebrow raised.

"And you would just happen to know that science, wouldn't you?" Her gaze dropped to his paws, where the damned frog was trapped under one of the large pads. Moyo swallowed the instant urge to stick her tongue out at the amphibian.

Her tail twitched and she sat, lifting a paw to her mouth and licking it clean as her eyes swept him over. A God, obviously. The wings were probably the largest hint he could have given her. And a blindfold over his eyes. Heiroglyphics on his back legs.

What was he a God of? Moyo remembered going over the list with her parents (and joking about a few with Bakari), but she couldn't fit this God's description with a name, for some reason.

"Why yes, irony of all ironies eh?" The god said to her smoothly. "And you young Moyo, do you really want to know this sience? Or would you be more content to just stick your tongue out at him?"

One of the large white paws lifted the frog in the air lightly by it's leg, making sure to place a cushion of air under the frog's body so that it wouldn't have the nasty pleasure of losing a leg due to gravity issues it couldn't control. The frog dangled a bit before making a scared croaking noise and gazing at Athrun with wide amphibian eyes, knowing the god wouldn't hurt him but still afraid of the lioness before him.

"So what do you want to do to the little guy anway? Eat him?" A slow smirk spread over the Lonely God's face.

Moyo's eyes narrowed a bit.

"No, I would not like to know this 'science.' And sticking my tongue out at him would simply be childish." Whoops. She walked right into that one, didn't she? Wince.

Her eyes watched the poor frog dangle in the air. She placed herself in the frog's position and felt immediate remorse; Moyo wasn't one to have a mean streak towards innocents. And this frog was definitely an innocent.

"I want you to put him down and let him go. I also want to know how you know my name."

Lonliness. That's what he was a god of; she remembered, now.

Athrun laughed in a suddenly kind voice and realeased the frog's leg, letting it drop gently onto the cloud of air under it. After the small amphibian thanked the god for saving it from the paws of the lioness before him, it leapt off and into the water noislessly. The god smiled that the little lioness had passed the test he'd so rudely cast upon her, but he really was glad.

"I appologize for the test, but sometimes it's not worth the time of a god to have his words turned against him by the tongue of a cruel lion." Athrun told Moyo smoothly, bowing to show his sincerity to the lioness he'd wronged.

"Now, as for the name." The god started, fluttering his wings so that they settled over his curse markings and the Ankh on his hip, "That one is easy. I'm a god and if you're standing before me I can know your name. It's godly mojo stuff that I don't care to think about too hard for fear I'll loosen some brain cells in the process, you know?" He smiled at her gently.

Moyo's brow raised higher on her forehead, if that was even possible. A test? How ridiculous. A test to see that she wouldn't have a cruel tongue? But perhaps she misunderstood him.

"And you couldn't possibly loose any of those brain cells, now could you?" she replied, her tone taking on more of a relaxed one than defensive. "Might loosen you up a bit along with that big brain of yours. Never know," she teased.

Well, once he started relaxing and actually joking around, she had done the same. Maybe the god of loneliness knew more about other lions than lions did about being lonely.
Maybe.
It's an interesting concept, to say the least.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 03, 2006 4:42 pm

"No, no it wouldn't. Probably it would loosen the whole thing and it would all just come running out of my nose like some kind of mummy." Athrun laughed a little, knowing full well that was what humans used to do with their own passed and not entirely caring that Moyo wouldn't get it. It was a quip, albeit a bad one a quip all the same.

Relaxing a little more, Athrun twitched his wings and rocked back on his hind legs into a "I'm relaxed and no you can't hear me roar I'm too lazy for that so just back off" kind of position that just screamed unproffesional. But that was who Athrun was, he'd never cared what others thought of him or just how many he'd pissed off, he was blunt and he was truthful and he didn't really give two craps if anyone hated or loved him. That was why the Dawnwalkers had orginally followed him in the first place, he was so laid back they got away with murder, though never literally.

That was probably why the gods had so cursed him. Just because they were pissed.

Moyo snorted disbelievingly, her small smile widening into a grin.

She was tempted to wander away a bit, but his responses to her actions and words were just so out of the blue and random that she couldn't help but stay. And see what he would do next. Being lonely all the time gave one plenty of opportunities to monologue and figure out the facts of life. But, mostly monolague.

She talked to herself enough as it is; this wasn't really helping matters.

"So," she commented. "What are you doing out here besides walking up all quiet-like and scaring other lions?"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 07, 2006 4:37 pm

"Awww. Cut me some slack. I'm over four hundred thousand years old. I have to get my jollies where I can get them you know?" Athrun said bluntly, another laugh working its way from him as he glanced at her. "What are you doing out here should be the question. Do you just enjoy scaring the crap out of little frogs not even half your size?"

The god winked at the smaller lioness before rocking forward and sitting up straight. He wasn't here for a reason, he didn't need to tell her anything dire at all. Why he was still here at all was a reason that he was still unable to fathom despite the depths of his sense of thought. A long yawn worked from his mouth and he chuffed faintly for a moment before flicking his wings and folding them to his back.

"As for me. I don't really have a reason for being anywhere I am. Just a want."

"Half my size?" she repeated. Moyo seemed to be doing that a lot, lately...

"And I don't enjoy scaring them. It's exercise. It's hunting. I hunt, they run." She shrugged. "I don't think that all of the time, of course, but in this situation, I do."

She also stared at him for a while before talking again. To a point, she could understand. A want. A need to go somewhere; a magnetic pull inside you. At least, that was what she felt at those times.

So, she couldn't really say anything to that. Because she understood. And Moyo couldn't claim that she did, because then it would just be an awkward silence. Her tail twitched a bit, knocking a weed around idly.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 12, 2006 8:27 am

"Well okay, so he's a little bit smaller than you, but hunting shouldn't entirely be about scaring them. And you seem to have absolutely no hunting skills if you have to use frogs." The god raised an eyebrow at her. After teaching his own cubs to hunt years ago Athrun was sure he knew that frogs were no teaching tool when it came to hunting. Birds you could use, klipspringers you could use, but frogs?

No. Not frogs.

Shaking the puff of mane out of his face again, Athrun flicked his tail about his legs and stood up. This little female enjoyed staring, though she probably wouldn't win seeing as Athrun didn't need his eyes open to see. So a staring contest would get old.

"Where around here do you live little one?" The god's voice took a much sterner tone.

Moyo's ears flickered back in an instinctive submission to his new tone of voice.

"Would it make everything better if I apologized?" she replied, raising an eyebrow in return. "And I don't live far from here. My family's den is only a few sprints from the jungle edge, and my mate is here as well. We split up to look for food earlier this morning, which explains how you found me. We've had a bit of difficulty finding food, and I wasn't going to eat the frog, anyway. Just practice."

Moyo began to stare again. You couldn't really blame her, on one hand. She had never seen a god before. On the other, it was incredibly rude. She soon realized this and quickly averted her eyes, blushing slightly and thankful for the blindfold covering Athrun's eyes.

A smirk graced the god's muzzle for a moment and he nodded. "If you must stare little one, at least tell me what you're staring at Maybe I can help you understand what's so weird about it that forces you to stare so." He really was laid back, there was nothing to the habit of listening to others when they spoke really, just the actual act of doing so.

"If you must learn to hunt then practice, but not on frogs. If you'd like I could teach you the same way I taught all of my cubs so long ago." Athrun refrained from telling her that they were no longer living, Moyo didn't entirely need to know that part of the equation.

She winced. Moyo didn't know that it could be that obvious.

Obviously, staring could be pretty obvious.

"Sorry," she mumbled, glancing away and down at a small, nearby pond. " I don't know why I stare. I guess it's because you're the first god I've seen in person, face to face and all." She shrugged. "Other than that, I must admit that I've never seen...markings like yours." Moyo fumbled for suitable words.

As to the hunting, her brow rose a bit higher.
"You...you'd teach me?" she asked incredously ((sp? xD)). "I know this was inevitable, but why?"
