COUNTERSPELL is a fun game I made up that challenges you on how well you know Final Fantasy spells and abilitiies. You can't play it on message boards though, you'll need AIM or any other instant messaging program.
REQUIRES: Three people. One referree, and two players. You should alernate though so everybody gets a chance.
RULES: Basically, you cast a spell on your opponent by naming that spell. That opponent tries to nullify your spell with its inherent opposite. For example, the opposite of Blizzaga is Firaga or Fire3 (depending on how strict your referee is).
EVERY SPELL HAS AN OPPOSITE. It's up for the referee to determine if the opposite was plasuible or not. If you don't cast the successful counterspell, you take one point of damage. Each player starts out with 3 HP. (also called life points in this game)
You only have a few seconds to successfully counterspell the attack or it will hurt you anyway! This game requires people that know how to type well.
EXAMPLES:
Player 1: AUTO-LIFE!
Player 2: DEATH!
Referee: FALSE! Nice try but 'Death' isn't the pure opposite of Auto-Life. Technically, it's Death Touch or more accurately, Death Strike from FFX. Player 1 gains 1 extra life point, making his total life 4. (Healing/Protective spells have the opposite effect of damage spells!)
If you want to stop somebody from healing themselves, than you must know the counterspells for those heals. =) If you want to stop somebody from hurting you, you must know the counterspell for their damage/destructive abilities.
HP cap: A player can't have more than 10 life points, however.
You also can't use the same counterspell twice but you CAN use the same spell twice (and only twice). I'm still tweaking this, as it might be overpowered, but for now it seems like it's the most fair.

Battles will get heated and intense as you try to trick your opponent to accidentally counterspell the wrong thing or surprise them with an original attack! Basically, this is a more evolved form of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

I suppose we COULD play this game on the message boards but we'd need three active people and the referee playing close attention so nobody cheats and edits (is there a way to lock edit posts in a thread?)
Part of the game's strategy is the quickness as if you could think too long of the counterspell you'd win each time. So yeah...but I don't see how it's not possible now if all three people are committed.
However, it's still much easier to play in a more 'live' setting.

YAY! I'm glad you like it, yes I think it's very fun. I could make big bucks (haha I wish)
I'll get on Yahoo now, what's your name?
(btw I'll be the referee for the first game...just to test everything out and all the kinks and everything. K?)
