The sky was ripe. Ripe and fresh with all the new colors that the break of day brought each time it came around. Kia normally welcomed the sunrise with smiles and salutations, but today was different.
Today, instead of standing face toward the rising sun and jabbering endlessly about the beautiful colors of the sun, Kia was laying in a coiled lump at the base of a small tree, her large cream-licked paws clamped over her closed eyes and a grimace across her face. It was much too early to be morning.

Sunrise, one of the few times of day it was easiest for Chuakari to stay hidden from the world. Of course, it's not as easy as sunset, which tends to be more pink, but it is a good time of day none the less! After a quick check to make sure she was presentable, the young cheetah was wandering around the lands in hopes of finding the way back to her coalition lands after getting lost while talking to a lioness.
"Hmm," she mumbles out loud, "Nope, don't recognize any of this."
As the lioness is not exactly the strangest of colors, it is by chance alone that Chuakari comes by the tree underwhich she hides. She doesn't even notice that anyone is there right away.

Kia exhaled a long and exasperated sigh. A frown curled across her black lips as she stretched her figure, her back arched and her legs extended as she uncurled belly up in the grass.
Her jaws opened wide as she yawned, fidgeting overdramatically, her eyes still clamped tightly shut. She grumbled some inaudible words through clenched teeth as she rolled onto her side, her back now facing the other creature in the area. Staring at the small blades of grass through squinted, watery eyes, the adolescant sighed once more, now twirling the long thin blades around one of her sharp black claws. She obviously did not notice that she was not in the least bit alone.

When the lioness wakes, sighing loudly, the cheetah jumps- startled. That's one way to realize you aren't alone! Kari stops dead in her tracks and turns her head to watch the creature that surprised her, hesitant to speak at first. Once it's obvious that she is more awake, however, the cheetah sees no problem in saying hi.
"Hellooo?" she calls, taking a couple steps towards Kia.

Kia plucked at a few more strands of grass before she was finally awoken by a voice. Startled when awakened with the realization that she was in the company of another the fr on her nape bristled as her green eyes widened nervously.
Slowly, carefully, the female propped her paws underneath her lithe frame and began to roll over to face the voice. Her brows rose as she moved, not knowing what sort of creature would show up before her when the voice's master was in her gaze. She found herself feeling rather jittery... suppose it was something big and scary. Kia cringed at the thought
Finally when she was facing the voice her round eyes basked in the sight of her visitor. A tall pink feline was standing before her.... a very tall pink feline. Of course, from Kia's angle, any standing creature seemed much taller than they actually were, but the female laying lazily in the grass apparantly never thought of this.
Her jaw dropped slightly as she saw her company. So tall.... and never before was pink such a threatening color. Her eyes still wide she attempted to speak to the feline, but unfortunatly the only sound that came out was a loud, sharp....
"AHHH!"

At the slow reaction, Kari bites her lip, supposing she misjudged just how wakeful this lioness is. She wrinkles her nose and waits patiently for Kia to look at her, waiting anxiously for some reply in hopes she has not disturbed her. The reply she gets, however, is not what she expected.
"Eep!" she jumps when a bristly Kia yells, jumping back a couple feet. Her first reaction is maybe that something scary is behind her, so she does turn around and look every which way. Nothing is there, just more grass, and she turns back to Kia.
"What? What?" she asks worriedly, "I didn't mean to scare you!"

Kia rose a brow as the cheeta jumped, she seemed to be nearly as frightened as her was and this alone brought a smile to Kia's face. Kia imagined how terrifying she must be to enstil fear in a creature twice her size, she smirked at the mere thought of it all.
As the girl before here babbled on Kia glowed, still relishing the idea that she had startled somebody for she couldnt recall an instance in her life where it had happened before.
"Scare me?" she said dramatically "pha. nonsense, you didn't scare me at all.... I was simply acting!" she smiled cheerfully and nodded. Such a little white lie shouldn't do any harm especially coming from a creature so frightening as Kia.

Kari watches the lioness carefully, noticing the pleased look she had on her face, and not entirely sure what she was so happy about. Maybe she liked being scared? She finds Kia's explanation to be a good reason she's so happy- her acting worked!
"You're a real good actor!" Chuakari squeaks, taking a couple steps closer again.

Kia scooted backwards nervously as the female took a few steps forward. Such a tall sort of creature always made Kia nervous, no matter how harmless they seemed.
She slowly pulled herself to her feet in case the cheetah tried something, then Kia could run, running was one thing that Kia was good at. However, upon standing the adolescant noticed that the cheetah was quite a bit smaller than she had originally thought. In fact, this female was shorter than she was. This small realization made Kia's smirk even wider.
"Say little one" she said, emphasizing the last two words for her own benefit "What brings somebody such as yourself to the pridelands?" Kia cocked her head, ears swiveling forward intently

Chuakari stops stepping closer when Kia scoots back, wondering if maybe she's somehow made the lioness upset with her. Frowning, she tries to figure out what it is while watching Kia get to her feet, but cannot think of anything. She'd not been scared, she said so herself.. why else would she be backing up? The small cheetah twitches slightly, worried now.
"I live near here," she says quietly, slowly relaxing as Kia becomes less timid seeming, "I was just going for a walk.."
She has no intention of mentioning the fact that she is lost, though. This pink cheetah is merely a neighbour who likes really early morning walks far from home!

"Oh goody!" said she with a widening grin present across her features "Another Pridelander! Quite pretty around here is it not? Quite pretty indeed" she nodded a few times, her gaze scanning idly across the terrain.
In all truth, Kia was not technically a Pridelander, she had never gained permission to live there, neither did her mother as far as she knew. By now, though, Kia had realized that she was not going to leave the Pridelands any time in the near future even if there was no reason that she could think of for her to stay.
"So what is your name child?" child... quite tall indeed. Kia stifled a laugh at her own miscalculations

Kari tilts her head when Kia calls her another Pridelander, wondering what that means exactly. She notes that the lioness is far too pleased about that to correct her, so she simply grins brightly and nods enthusiastically.
"That's right!" she beams, "It's real pretty around here, that's why I like it. And there are lots of friendly people around, like you!" Not counting the strange wild dog who'd tried to steal her food, of course.
"My name is Chuakari," she introduces herself politely, "What's your name?"

"That's a really big name" she said bluntly, but not in a mean way, it was a nice....long name "My name's Kia" She nodded sharply in a greeting.
Kia looked carefully at the area surrounding her, and seeing no watering hole she tried to recall how she somehow got to this location for she couldn't even slightly recall her journey from the watering hole where she had spent her time the previous night to here where she met this cheetah today.
"It's a pleasure to meet you by the way" she added, trying to save herself from rudeness. For rudeness was a thing that Kia rather disliked. Remembering her night at the watering hole reminded her of a long thought of mystery, one that Kia still didn't solve though severely wanted to and although she hoped that Chuakari wouldn't have ever come in contact with her mystery Kia thought that if she had then perhaps she could bring some light to the situation forever lingering in Kia's small mind.
"Say, Chuakari, have you ever seen a hyena?" Kia's eyes sparkled

"My name is awful long," Kari agrees without hesitation, "You can call me Kari if it's easier! You're name is a lot shorter, and pretty."
The cheetah takes a seat shortly after complimenting Kia's name, watching her look around them. She isn't sure why she does it, but she is not going to interrupt her! She takes a moment to look around herself, in case something familer pops out of the scenery. It'd be wonderful to find her way back home, but she needn't worry about that this second! Her ears flicker towards Kia when she is questioned.
"A hyena?" she repeats, trying to decipher the tone Kia spoke with the the look in her eye. Kari has heard of hyenas before, but has never seen one- but it looks a lot like Kia wants to here she has. Without a great delay she nods fervently, "Yes, I've seen one of them!"

((I have to go for dinner. I'll be back later :3)) Kia grinned, leaning forward almost as if it were of utmost importance for her to hear every detail on the matter. She squealed with delight as she glanced from side to side as if the subject of hyenas was entirely a secret that shouldn't be talked of in daylight.
"Was it terribly dreadful? Did it try to eat you? Do they have horrible big bloody fangs?" her eyes widened curiously as she added questions, pausing on the last one to bare her own teeth as a sort of visual aid
Hyenas had always been a fear of Kia's and now perhaps she could learn exactly how they operate and if she ever should come in contact with one she could avoid becoming a meal also, just as Kari did
