I'm just curious, since we were told today that the girls have to do girl push-ups...
By the former drum major, who had scolded someone last season for doing girl push-ups instead of real ones.

Hate 'em and I'm a girl. I do regular ones. What does this have to do with anything though?

We do push ups, and we are ALLOWED to do the girl push ups. But I, myself, never do them. They really are stupid, so I just do the regular ones.

We never have to push-ups and the like biggrin
My BD, he's a nice guy if he likes you, but has the uncanny ability to scare the band shitless so we do it right.
We learned, and played and marched the first drill in about two hours!

We're not allowed to do girl push-ups and I'm glad! I hate doing those ones. I'm a girl and I do the real deal!

We make everyone do regular push-ups...No girly push-ups allowd. Plus they don't really do anything for yor arms if you don't do'em right.
I'm a drum major myself, and I run a tight ship when it comes to getting things done...And when it comes to being fair. So everyone shares the same load, same punishment, same work. No one's complained to me yet ^ ^ So I must be doing something right, eh?

I suppose you're allowed to do girly-knee-pushups in my band, but most people don't. In fact, only a few girls (and the occasional guy) do them. At our after-lunch physical training, our Brass-Tech Larry makes us do death pushups, so alot of people end up doing the girly kind anyway.
In our regiment, we do three kinds of pushups though. We have normal, hands turned in, and triangle pushups (where you make a triangle with your index fingers and thumbs. They suck alot).
We also do jumping jack, calf raises, crunches, and pilates, all in time.

We just got a new teacher, we don't have to do pushups anymore. She doesn't want to risk us injuring our arms or hands. Instead we do jumping jacks.

No girly push ups alowed in my band, although last year there was one exception when a girl didn't have ht estrength to even do a girl push up, so she did sit ups where someone had to pull her up. Buit now we have taught her how to push and she can now do puch ups. and in our band when you hear push and you have your instrument, you pretty mush don't care about it, you lay it down as fast as possible which is hard with a neck strap, and have ot do your push ups and be back at attention in fifteen seconds, its fun.

The only reason most girls should do girl-like push ups is because a girls center of gravity is the hips, so you balance to those thus getting on your knees and they work the same way for girls only if you go down all the way and your nose touchs the ground.
