Yes.We all know about the supposed +15% damage thing on the elemental staffs. But has anyone ever proven that it even exists? I frankly havn't noticed my wind staff affecting aero III. Infact, it dous the same damage as an ice staff...or even without a staff in general. Frankly, notice the stats on it? +int. Int affects nukes...ice staff affects nukes...So technicly, wouldn't ice be better? And water staff for white magic(except cure...I'de die without my light staff)

Overall, dous anyone else have speculation that the hidden effect on the staffs...dousn't exist?

And don't bring up the rune weapons, we all know their evil mp sucking things. stressed

To be frank, Yes. But its 10% not 15%. They also give -2 avatar perpetuation cost for the avatar of the elemental staff you use. So for BLM and SMN all of teh staffs are Essential.

Most BST transfer from... say... a monster signa(if you rich enough for it) to a light staff as of yet many of them said charming seems a lot easier with it...while others... they say that they seem to charm less then before...but it is also up on the days you charm a pet....As of yet confirming it seems quite hard to do but since many of them are using light staffs why not me? And i can test it myself.

As for a spell seemingly being stronger....when i used the staffs for my BLM it didn't make too much of a difference in how strong my cast was O.O only ice staff really did anything...thats just coming from a BLM that only has like around 25 extra INT at 52 though >.>

sweatdrop Ok...lets take another example. Like for instance rdm. I only notice a difference with earth staff, ice staff, and dark. The rest I still get resisted like crazy, even with capped enfeebling, +27 in gear. I swap int and mnd gear out,so not sure if that's what is making the difference or the staffs. I know one thing though, dark staff dous help with sleeping links. (forgot my int rings in mog during a zm run, so had to suffer with my low elvaan int and a dark staff...was still able to sleep everything.) But I still had +int gear besides the rings, so is it the mnd+ and int+ doing the work...or the staffs? Someone really needs to do an investigation.
...And they really cut down perpetual cost for avatars?

OK im sorry i wasent too specific with my answer. The NQ staf will give 10% increase to Elemental magic. The HQ will give 15% (sorry i didnt check the HQ b4 last post razz ). This means lets say you cast sneak, look at the spell in your spell list, notice the green box next to it that means the wind/austers staff will be the staff you want to use when you cast it it will make sneak last longer. so look at the enfeebs o your spell list that u use all you do is macro in those staffs for those spells and they will stick better. Now for avatar perpetuation cost. for Example light staff is -2 for carby, but its +2 for diablos and fenrir because there dark element. Thats the same for all the other avatars. And if u have the HQ its -3 perpetuation cost for the avatar of that element and +3 for the opposite. Now for teh random BST that posted. Light staff will give 10%+ charm effectiaveness Appallo(HQ) will give 15%.

if u cast with the wind staff on ice or dark day then its not gonna last long. if u casted them on low lvl players then the spell will also bite.

I leveled my bard from 50-62 in a manaburn static with my LS. only one of the BLMs had a HQ staff, she also had the shittiest gear lol... and she consistantly out damaged theothers... this really pissed my boyfriend off, since he has the best INT+ gear and even enfeebling magic merrits X3... There is deffinatly a noticable difference in HQ staff over NQ, but it's not really nessisary. Just make sure you have 1 of each of the staffs, and equip the staff with each corrisponding spell. 1 damn HQ staff can out due the best equipped BLM (at lower lvls)....

lol yeah it does effect them. Its not going to make them stick 100% of the time because its a percentage, 10%+ with NQ. This is most helpfull on xp mobs, if were talking Gods/HNMs HQ most likley wouldent help very much. mrgreen

The hidden effects of upping any magic based on thats staffs element is true, as is the avatar pepetuatino cost. I am a 62 taru blm (It's ok you can bow to me I'm a god.) I have a full set of HQ elemental staves. I was in a mana burn party and decided to test the theory out. Casting without my staves I was hitting Freeze for about 1280 dmg per cast, equiping the HQ ice staff I was averageing 1500 dmg a cast.

My friend is a 75 summoner and he will never go anywere without his HQ staves. He may be a taru but he needs ever MP he has so the -3 perpetuation cost is a god send.
