-sigh- I don't really have anything for this area still...but I'll put something temporary up until I have a nice thought-out version.
In the beginning:
An evil demon lord named Laos rose from the darkness and began to lay seige to the Twelve Kingdoms of Esperanza. He had most of the kings and queens assassinated, along with the royals of Esperanza Kingdom. (The region is called Esperanza as well, most refer to them as Esperanza for the region and Esperanza Kingdom for the kingdom.)
A preistess rose from the masses and began a quest for a sword. The sword would be the only thing that could kill Laos because of all the dark rituals he had performed on himself. The demon king Laos needed a bride so he could have an heir to his dark empire. He found a wife and acquired said heir eventually, do you sense a but here? Good.
Before I get into that whole shtick, I must first tell you of the New Years Ball that was held in Esperanza Citadel. It was a grand affair, until one of the guards was duped into opening one of the underground doors that lead to a tunnel under the moutain. An army of demons was waiting on the other side. As the horde swarmed the castle, a group of warriors attempted to reach the underground tunnel door. It was a futile attempt and they soon turned around. They were, however, trapped within the depths of the castle.
While this was going on, the King of Esperanza (kingdom) had sounded the alarm for immediate evacuation. The alarm was cut shortly after it sounded as the king and his queen and prince were all assassinated by a demon. A young girl named Freya stumbled upon the room and was saved by a healer named Alicia.
Eventually, everyone made it out to the escape devices set up around the Citadel. The devices were hidden in a grove of trees and were enchanted so only people who needed them and new they were there could find them. They transported the surviving guests to a location along the coast of Esperanza.
Shortly after what is now known as the New Year's Massacre, a war council was called for all surviving kings/queens and other such people.
There is an ending story for this point onward since everyone wanted the plot to be over and a new one to start.
-[The Spoof]-
After everyone got out of the Citadel, via the 'secret' exits, they were transported to Tique. The casualties were high and some of the ones who were there obviously didn't make it. Among them was Sir Auren, a brave warrior to the end, he saved everyone in his group but fell behind and is, of course, presumed dead.
Tique Isle: Capital City (Tique)
The priestess VaTawney stood impatiently outside the door of the council room. She'd been waiting here for several minutes as a maid cleaned her up. As far as she knew, everyone was gathered on the other side of the doors, the Lord Vedrei of Tique had insisted that she clean up before joining them. As the maids finally finished, she was handed THE sword. As it turns out, it was in the tunnel she'd taken to Tique. She had gone into a trance about half-way down the tunnel and when she came out of it, she had the sword in her hands. It was rather odd...almost as if a deity ((coughcough)) had saved her the quest to find it.
She was dressed in a white priestess robe that had plates of Ironwood armour tied across her chest, back, and shoulders. She had bracers and shin guards made of the same substance and a helmet made of diamond reinforced adamantine. The colors were silver and blue. Together with the robe, it was rather striking. Plus, she could move in it.
As the doors creaked open, a sea of grave faces rose and then lit up. A lone girl stood from her assumed mother's side and said, "Priestess! We thought you had died in the Citadel!"
VaTawney smiled sadly and replied, "No, but I'm afraid Sir Auren did not make it...he was a good knight and he protected me to the end." A few people slumped in their chairs and some had tears in their eyes. A woman had stood stiffly and left the room, you could tell she was very upset. VaTawney had some good news however..."Friends, comrads, I have the sword that shalt slay the demon king Laos. It was given to me as if by divine hands. All shall be righted soon."
Some people perked up at this but a woman stood and shook her head.
"No, it won't work. He already has a child. 'Tis a girl, her name is Jadeira."
VaTawney frowned and thought about it for a while. What could be done? She couldn't slay the child, it was not yet corrupt. There was only one solution.
"I presume the mother is dead, having served her purpose. The child...I shall save the child from the darkness. I shall raise her as my own. Slay Laos and take the child, this is what we shall do." She said it with a note of stealy finality.
"But VaTawney, the child is borne of the devil! It shall always be evil, there is nothing you can do." A man she recognized had stood up. It was Toleranth, the King of the Dragon Platue. He looked a little worn, but otherwise fine. His love, Yami, was next to him, though still in her seat. "I can and I shall. There is no debating it, we cannot kill one who has not yet killed, be it 'devil spawn' or not; and I assure you, the child is NOT evil." VaTawney fixed him with a gaze that left no room for arguements.
Though he would not normally back down so easily, Toleranth saw that nothing would get through to her, she would have to learn from her own mistakes.
Tsuki had been watching from the shadows again...it was one of her favorite pass times. She stood slightly behind Shavas and Freya, with the shadows wrapped tightly around her body. She watched as the priestess revealed that Auren was presumed dead, damn him. He should've just followed me, she thought. She watched as Alhanna left the room and as the priestess revealed that she also had the sword. Shavas stood and told her of the child, Toleranth prostested VaTawney's solution and then Tsuki spoke.
"I know where Laos is and I know his palace like the back of my hand. I had a reconnisciance mission down that-a-way once or twice so it was, and is, my business to know it. His palace resides on the island about 60 leagues to the Northwest of here. Surrounded by mountains and under a dormant valcano. If we take a series of boats...." She continued speaking and eventually a plan was formed. They would take a select group with them, it included Tsuki, Shavas, VaTawney, Toleranth, Souloe, and Tairon. They would take two small boats and sail around the island. Make base on one of the other micro-islands just off the coast and sale again for Laos' Isle.
Later: Laos' Isle
Va Tawney was a gentle person by nature, but the horrors that she had seen on ther walk up to the entrance to the volcanic caves were just that, horrible. Bodies impaled on stakes, branded and bloody. Dead animals and demons alike scattered about. Bodies full of arrows and poll arms. Half-eaten carcass', it was disgusting to say the least. With every dead thing they passed, her resolve grew stronger. She would kill the demon king.
Tsuki walked at the head of the group, or point position. She was the only one with even the vaguest idea where they were going so she was leading for obvious reasons. Shavas was walking to her left and slightly behind. They had been friends for a long time, this may yet be the end for them. Freya had been left on Tique because she wasn't trained enough for combat.
Tsuki wasn't going to change sides this time. Neither, she knew, was Shavas. A demon had tried to take her daughter and now Laos and every demon on the island would pay in blood, this Tsuki was sure of.
Shavas was thinking along the same lines as Tsuki, she wasn't going to defact to Laos again, he had ordered her daughter captured. She had rested on the boat but was still weary from the Esperanza battle. It had happened only the other day after all. She knew that everyone else was too. VaTawney was directly behind her.
Toleranth and Tairon brought up the rear of the group, VaTawney had to reach Laos. The properties of the sword would weaken him to the point of being nearly lethargic.
Souloe was traveling directly behind the priestess, he knew that he would make it through but didn't know about the others. Though he hardly knew most of them, he knew his duty to the continent and it was to stop Laos. No one would be happy nor free until the demon king was dead.
When they entered the caves, the descent began almost immediately. It was a steep incline and everyone tripped, except Tsuki who had night extreme night vision, once. There had been a sudden drop right at the beginning of the cave. The tunnel twisted and turned and continued down. They passed a few lava pits in verying degrees of cooling. They had been walking for the better part of an hour when all of a sudden, they were in a huge chamber. Laos stood in his humanoid form surrounded by a large group of elite demons.
Two Hours Later, Laos' Volcanic Lair
The battle had been raging for almost an hour. VaTawney had been up against one enemy but then had been whisked away by Shavas who had told her to save her strength for Laos. Shavas had since fallen in battle and was either unconcious or dead. Tsuki was still fighting, having taken out two of the three that had ganged on her. Tairon was in his demon form, battling two demons at once. He had taken one out already though, so had originally been ganged up on by three as well. Laos had had about 18 elite demons with him. Twelve of them were dead, six were left. Toleranth had taken out three so far and was battling with a fourth and fifth though he was beginning to look winded. Souloe had taken out two and was battling two more. Shavas had taken three of the bastards before she fell and they were all accounted for...all but Laos who was standing next to a door to an antechamber. He locked eyes with her and she began to move towards him.
--------------
The group had finished off the last of the combatants, Shavas was indeed dead, Tsuki was as well. Toleranth had numerous wounds as did Tairon, Souloe had dissappeared in a blast of light that had taken out his last enemy. No one knew if he was dead or alive. VaTawney and Laos were locked in a battle to death.
They were both wearing down, Laos because of the sword's abilities to drain demonic power and VaTawney because she wasn't used to drawn out battles. Laos had tried to revert to his demon form but found that the sword drained him faster that way. He struck her in the arm with a demonic sword he'd drawn, is if out of air. (Though of course he hadn't, he'd summoned it.) When he'd drawn first blood, he'd smirked at her but she'd retaliated by slashing her sword across his cheek; effectively drawing second blood. From there it had been an exchange of blows that were rather messy. For a demon lord, Laos never really stayed in his human form long enough to learn the sword sufficiently. He knew some, but he wasn't a master. He, however, had demonic attributes to make up for this, whereas the priestess had more experience. They were rathre evenly matched.
Until it happened.
Just as the priestess struck him in the heart with the blade, the supposedly dormant volcano began to shake. The priestess let her gaurd down for a second and then she had Laos' sword through her small intestine. They both froze for a second and then Laos turned to dust. The priestess fell and died. Her last words were 'Save the child.' Toleranth, though it pained him to do this against his better judgement, did as she asked. It was her death wish after all...

And, as I'm too lazy to type anymore...and I think I've sprained something in my hand from falling today, I will sumerize what happened next.

Summary-like Prologue
They, obviously, got out of the erupting volcano in time...lest I wouldn't have anymore to write. The child named Jadeira was found to be a relative of Shavas and very distantly related to Tsuki. Since the both of them were now dead, Freya would take responsibility. She did this willingly, as she was 16 and had no interest in marrying anytime soon. She would raise Jadeira until she was 7 and then she would give her over to the group that would train her. She was demonic after all. Houka would teach her medicine and Toleranth would reluctantly teach her how to use a sword. (Though he eventually grew out of his dislike for the child and did so willingly when the time came.) She was taught hand-to-hand by a specialist and she was taught by Freya how to use a glaive and a bow. Houka also taught her how to use a poll-arm and throwing knives. They all were living happily, most thought the peace would last forever.
New kings and queens of the 12 kingdoms were elected, castles and citadels were rebuilt. Villages, bridges, and roads were fixed. Everything was going great, but a new threat had arisen. The sacred tablets of light and dark had been brought together by an obscure cult.

Shortly after this we started up the 'Enter The Grey' plotline. It fell through and morphed into the current 'Something Grim This Way Comes' plotline.
So, now Esperanza has temples and sacred items of its own, but they aren't for the same plot as the last one. We left the 'Grey' plot shortly after it began, people were milling about in forests and no one knew what to do. Thus the change to the current 'Grim' plot.

Anyone that wants to add their character if it was forgotten or wants to add to my short description of their character can do so. I apologize if I left anyone out, but I'm kinda throughing this together on short notice.
I also apologize for any spelling errors. I'm going to edit them eventually, but not right now.
Something Grim This Way Comes
Okay starting from where I left off:
Two new countries were discovered, Houka guarded by the goddess Lycra and Pearle guarded by the god Lumos. Lumos and Lycra used to be lovers but one day thier countries started a war with eachother. Lycra told Lumos that unless he told his people to stop the war, she would leave him forever. Lumos tried to tell his people to stop but they were relentless, a Houkan assassin had been found above the bodies of their royal family. Lumos tried to go to his wife and tell her of Pearle's plight but she would not listen. The two have been seperate ever since.
One day, Houka's holy relic was cracked down the middle and all their temple dedicates were found dead, their blood spilled on the alter. Houkans were enraged and Pearle was instantly blamed.
Meanwhile, the true culprit was making her way towards the country of Esperanza. Sibel was a close follower of Laos, though she didn't know him when he was alive. She was determined to resurrect him, the trouble was that she had the knowledge and the means to do so.
Young maidens started disappearing and then being found bled out on the alter of the dark temple come morning. People grew restless and Queen Jadira needed to do something about it.
Jadira, Laos' 'heir' was now queen of Esperanza state. Pretty much High-Queen of all of Esperanza. She had been raised properly and wasn't evil like her father. (Don't ask me why a teenaged daughter of an evil tyrant was put on the throne. She just was.)
Eventually we found out it was Sibel attempting to gather enough life-energy to revive Laos by tearing the Veil between life and death. She kidnaps Jadira and somewhere in here Lord Toleranth of Domachi is killed. Only not really because he faked it to go through some transformation that made him super-power.
Shortly after this, Laos is successfully revived using the blood and demonic magic of his daughter. Sibel takes over Esperanza and Laos sends some people to go do evil things. The tear in the veil has yet to be repaired so Laos casts a spell on it that any soul coming out of it is bound to his will via this little gold collar that appears around the spirit's neck. This revives the body of the spirit but keeps its mind back so that it is like a puppet. He revived Tsuki and Shavas and ordered them to go to Houka to attempt to assassinate the empress.
A little before all of this, the three countries were attempting to avoid war and make peace so envoys were being sent everywhere with delegates to make peace treaties. The envoy from Esperanza to Pearle fell through when the Pearlean queen was killed and the new one fled with them thinking it safer. (Though now I'm fairly sure everyone in Pearle thinks they kidnapped her.)
Anyway, during this the group from Pearle including Nadira (Jadira's younger half-sister.) Vermillion of Domachi, Queen Marta of Pearle, and a score of other people made their way to Houka.
Everyone convirges on Houka at once, Tsuki and Shavas begin to destroy things in their quest to kill the empress and the Pearle group is there to seek refuge. There is a sudden jolt in reality.
Back in Domachi, Arkayid (I think he's the son of Auren and Alhanna.) whom is under Laos' control has let loose a huge spell that blows it apart. It is so powerful that it makes ripples through reality. (He got through all the guards using the questionable excuse that he was setting up a portal for Nadira and Verimillion to come back through. I personally suspect that he had some sort of item that helped reinforce that in people's minds.)
Empress Lyra, tired of things blowing up and people invading her palace, ordered all the intruders and new people in the palace be brought to her.
Tsuki and Shavas had encountered little resistance and any they did was quickly cut down. Tsuki met her own daughter in the hallway, Ankhe. Ankhe got her hands around Tsuki's neck at some point and broke the collar. Vermillion encountered Shavas in the hallway and broke her collar with some funny spell. It left a mark on her neck that only he knew what it meant.
Eventually all of the people were gathered in the hallway in front of Lyra's throne room.
Watered down, this is what happened, there was another attack by an outside party, Vermillion made a bluff of being an all powerful evil force to buy Toleranth the time he needed to get back, two more attackers from Laos showed up, Vermillion made them back off for a while, Laos sent Auren Shiro (whom he revived) to help take Houka.
Vermillion cast an illusion over everyone to make them think he had blown Houka up and that they were somewhere else.
After this was all over we found out that he was in fact still good and had cast an illusion and that he'd been bluffing.
Then Toleranth, who had finally returned, transported them all to a nameless cavern underground.
And Vermillion died.
Vermillion was very missed and everybody was sad. Everybody (Toleranth, Shavas, Tsuki, Ankhe, Marta, Nadira, Rae, Kanashi, Lyra, Ayame, Salsane)
There was much conversing. Of war. And what to do, about war. Then Tsuki, Ankhe, and Nadira went off to Teir to collect the army/to see what had become of Ankhe's kingdom. They got there and there were demon bodies everywhere. A few of Auren's wyverns/soldiers met them on their way in and after some brief conversation were led to Auren himself. It is found out that Auren is a 'double agent'.
Later, Toleranth's twin children were found and somehow ended up in a clearing. The female twin attempted to call for help via magic but this brought a horde of demons upon their heads. Most everyone proceeded to freak out and rush to the twins' position. Somehow they ended up in Teir after Tsuki and Ankhe had both departed to the White Mage Tower (after deciding that a majority of the populace of Teir must have 'escaped' to the Tower when the demons attacked.)
Back at Resistance HQ (tm) most were still deciding what to do. Eventually Lyra took Marta on a mission to summon up their countries 'special secret weapons'. It turns out that the secret weapons were gods in human form. (as Auren would put it, demi-gods) They then traveled back to the Resistance with their godly companions in tow.
Alhanna (Auren's wife) was in Laos' clutches for an undetermined amount of time and the Auren rescued her and brought her to a church.
(I can't really remember how, but somehow she made it to the Resistance HQ and is alive.)
