...well at least the American-Koreans. However, I AM NOT SPEAKING FOR EVERYONE!! This is clearly from experience.

See, i'm not 100% korean. I'm half korean and half middle eastern, so my korean traits are really faded. Anyways, i remember my mom took my sister and i to a korean church a couple of times, and all the koreans ignored us. So, of course, the korean moms pushed my sister and i into activies like card games, tv, and other stuff the korean children were doing. However, everytime we joined something, everyone left. At first, i thought it was because we were new, but i realized after a couple visits that it was because we weren't fully korean. I really hated that church. confused

And also at my school, there is this korean gang. Now, i'm not the kind of person who'd join a gang particularly because of it's race, but i thought, Why not? I've tried associating with them, but only a couple have talked to me. And the couple of people that have talked to me weren't really interested in being friends. Even one of my closest friends, whos korean, has turned her back on me for her "korean gang".

I really don't want flaming. I'm putting this because i know it's also an issue with other mixed koreans, and i know some pure koreans have noticed it. So i just want to know what do you think of this situation?

its normal. Koreans have a pure mentality. plus, Korea is homogenous. althought, rights for mixed kids are getting better. and its expected that u wouldn't look all that korean. normally, half korean, half non asian mixes tend to look less korean

Ahh yeah..

I went to Korea with my friend this year, who's fully american, but he didn't get any racial discrimination.. But I was really worried about him because I know some people in korea can be racial.

At this shop after Korea vs. Switz World Cup game, they asked if my friend was Switz.. I quickly said "no" and they said laughing, that if he waz then they were going to beat him up.. I dunno if they were serious or not. And then stupidily my friend said "yes" >_> LOL

I don't know.. I personally think that EVERYONE is a bit racist..

yeah, for some reason, koreans are pretty much racial especially to those who arent pure koreans
oh well, i just hope that theyll get over it but i guess that compared to the past, koreans are getting less racial

that's more extreme nationalism than racism.

Did some notice that a lot of the asian parents want their children to marry within their own race? I mean have the line, "pure"? My parents are kind of like that.

meh. its our thing. we've always been a homogenous group of people...except China. we grow up in NA which isn't as homogenous so...we don't really care much about purity

In my place... all the "pure" Koreans speak in Korean, but the half-Koreans don't understand, so most of them leave them out... it's sorta mean, but I sometimes join in slightly... sweatdrop Sorry.

Well, there is definitely rocial discrimination in the minds of many Koreans. My sister is dating a Chinese-Italian guy and my parents aren't all that thrilled about him. They like him as a person, but since he's not Korean, they feel uncomfortable and keep telling themselves that my sister isn't serious about him. What bothers them more than his ethnicity is that he's not Christian, since my parents are highly religious. I grew up in an urban environment and then moved out to the White suburbs, so I was always a minority. When people from Korean come to my old neighborhood, they get scared because of all the Black people, but then again, most of my friends from the USA who grew up in a privileged environment feels or would feel very uncomfortable in my old neighborhood. (I had two Latina friends duck under the car windows while we were passing through, and they were very liberal and outspoken about economic disparities and stereotypes; oh the hypocrisy.) So, I think Koreans do tend to have discriminatory ideas, but it's not much worse than many people in the USA and other countries. Korea, like Japan, has had long periods of isolationism or selective communication, and the lingering mindset affects how they see people of other nationalities, cultures, and ethicities.
