The Kingdoms/World
Story
There is a world of many intertwined psuedo-elemental kingdoms. The people within these kingdoms are all born with at least a touch of their Kingdom's magic, for instance in the fire Kingdom, even the weakest magic user can light a spark to tinder. Some people elect to study the magics of other realms, and there are a few multitalented sorcerers, but due to geographic distance and the primitive medival style transport, it is all but impossible to have mastered control of all elements. A Ruler is determined by their prowess in their Kingdom's elements, they can do anything with that element, however they have no ability in other elements. They also are accompanied by creatures referred to as Emissaries. An Emissary is a sentient magical beast able to change into three different forms, their battle form, their human form, and their companion form, they are born when their Ruler's power first manifests, and are innately drawn to their ruler, however if either dies, both die. False rulers are also rather common. These people often are tyrants who assume the throne by force or coercion.
Element: Metamorphosis
Ruler: King
Emissary:
I have very little planned out for this kingdom, but it was easily the most facinating, the King was born in a kingdom far distant to the Kingdom of Metamorphosis, and his parents were absolutely puzzled as to what his powers were. It is not terribly uncommon for children to be born with a power outside their kingdom, but they couldn't quite place what power his was, for instance on one fateful day, a Fire Sorcerer came and showed his power. The young King attempted to do the same, and his hand turned to flame. In a panic the boy batted at his hand only to burn his other, and he screamed in greater pain when attempting to extinguish the flame of his hand in water, but after this excruciating pain, he passed out and his hand returned to normal, albeit terribly scarred. He is married to a woman with exotic butterfly wings, and his emissary travels most frequently in its companion form, and changes its gender, species and appearence at whim.
Element: Ore
Ruler: Gavin
Emissary: Shyrain
Gavin was a knight in the Kingdom of Ore, serving a Tyrant king. The Tyrant was not truly evil and was a passably good ruler. Gavin served under him for several years. One day (either in a battle or assasination attempt) someone shot Gavin with an arrow, but the man was unharmed though the arrow had obviously punctured his armor. After being accused of being one of the cursed magical monsters which formed along the edges of kingdoms, Gavin was cast out, and in his journeys met two young women(both secretly Emissaries). Shyrain, the elder of the two women, was instantly drawn to Gavin and he to her. Eventually, the two realized Gavin was the true ruler, and Shyrain his Emissary. Now they need to gain the support of neighboring kingdoms in order to reclaim the Kindom of Ore to its true King.
Element: Fire
Ruler: Queen
Emissary: Passionfire
Passionfire knew she was an emissary at a young age, and found out the hard way what that meant. A false king had captured her and kept her bound, until she finally escaped. After this she fled long and far, wishing never to have to serve a man. When she finally met her ruler however, she was only impressed to find she was to serve a woman as powerful and hardened as herself.
Element: Ki (Life Force)
Ruler: The Necromancer
Emissary:
The Necromancer as he came to be called was born in a time of Plague. After watching his mother die from the wasting illness, the child's power finally manifested. Whereas the power of Ki had always been used as a healing ability, the troubled young boy managed to raise his mother's corpse. He is thoroughly insane from the trauma of his youth, and being so deranged does not realize his mother is dead, though her decaying body still walks. He has grown old himself and has discovered a legend which states that one who can wield all elements can assume ultimate power(naturally destroying the world in the process). In order to work his plan he must absorb the life force from every Emissary, in the lengedary Island within the Maelstrom
Wind
King
Sellas
As happens from time to time, The King of this Kingdom had his powers manifest at birth, and so his Emissary was born at that precise moment, and oddly at the same place. Sellas in his human form can pass as an identical twin to his Ruler, however, their personalities could not be farther apart.
Rain:
King:
Emmisary: Kallath
Kallath is found washed up on the shores of the Maelstrom sea, with no memories, and a fractured ability to wield his powers. He is a failed attempt by the Necromancer to absorb the powers of the Emissaries. His King is being held and tortured by the Necromancer in an attempt to uncover Kallath's position.
More coming later.
