In the beginning, after God made the animals and the earth, He still wanted to create one more special being. He wanted to create someone that he could love, someone who could appreciate His love and who could love Him back. So he created Adam and Eve, human being created in his image.
You were born to be loved by God. You were born with a bull's-eye painted on you, and God is aiming His love right at it. It doesn't really matter if you are important to anyone else because you are important to God. Like Zechariah, you can know you are "apple of His eyes" ( 2:8 )
There is nothing you can do to make Him love you any less or any more. He loves you with all the love in the universe.
Lord, I thank you that no matter what people say or do to me or how make me feel, I am important to you. Thank you, Lord, that I am the object of your affection today. In Jesus' name. Amen

Thanks so much for this. Even though I feel important to others, and can easily be there for them, I have troubles with my self-esteem. As I write this, I can feel sadness and despair creeping in, when I essentially am happy. My conclusion: Satan's bumming me out. xp

I forget where I first heard this, but if you or I, were the ONLY person on the planet - in the universe ... Jesus still would have died. He loves us individually, that much.
I asked the Lord about that one time, and He took me to this Jewish Proverb: "A man may have many children. But each is His only one." So profound and so healing.
