Search and Protect
Logan/Ophelia
Ophelia/Echo-Logan/Croanyl

Logan's eyes wandered the path that he was traveling, he couldn't find her! Where would Echo have run off to, maybe to see Ophelia, that was his best guess at this point. And Ophelia was who he was searching out.

Something was odd about this though...

Usually if Echo would be with her sister, Logan would have an easier time locating them. But this was different, it was almost like they disappeared, he hoped they didn't leave...it would crush him. What would everyone else think then if both did leave...he'd become a mockery of a wolf for sure.

Ophelia's scent was cast lightly around this area, but she had to be closeby, least Logan hoped so. Something in his gut told him that something was terribly wrong. He howled lightly into teh air, just trying to reach Ophelia, he hoped she and Echo would reply, or he'd see both safe and sound quite soon.

----------------------------------------

Croanyl was thinking now, which way would the child have gone if she stayed here. There weren't many pups to be friend, she'd most likely be out on her own. But he had to tred lightly, to make sure his scent wouldn't be carried to the wrong wolves...the alpha, more or less. Then he would have a much bigger problem.

When the howl broke the silence around him, Croanyl froze, it was close. Along with another scent, female, was also close, somewhere. Perhaps it was the sister of that wolfess he had just left behind, oo...this could turn out to be interesting.

Creeping along low to the ground Croanyl padded forward, to see who in fact was close, and if he could cause anymore harm then he had already done.

There was an itch in her brain. It wasn’t much- but it was enough to set Ophelia on end. She had never been the dominant psychic of the pair- and calling out to Echo in that manner was impossible unless Echo opened up the link. But it was unlike Echo to be gone. And there was only one reason she could figure for this mysterious disappearance-

Logan.

What he’d done, she wasn’t sure, but she had gotten wind of it when Echo had returned late last night, smelling of him. Now, it was safe to imagine that any wolf that got too close to Echo would have a lingering scent upon her. It was how wolves knew who was who. But this was different. She smelled too much like him, but she had been pretending to sleep at the time, and had dismissed the matter for the morning. By the time Ophelia had awoken- Echo was gone.

She tried not to worry. Not even so much about the change in her smell the night before- but...

Now this itch, and she couldn’t stand it. The lean female moved quickly about the unfamiliar land, her head bobbing about. “Echo!” She called, like a child playing a game. “Echo- where are you?”

When nothing had been turning up, she had even gotten the faint notion to find Amélie. Echo and her had been friends, hadn’t they? Perhaps they’d gone to visit.

Logan kept padding around, eyes searching everything he came across, an eery feeling that something happened crossing the back of his mind. What was going on...this game of hide and seek was far from funny.

When he heard Ophelia's vgoice call out for Echo his hopes dropped in teh pit of his stomach, Ophy didn't know where Echo was either...not good not good. He bolted forward following Ophelia's voice to try and catch up with her, maybe if they worked together they could find her.

All the while when this was happening Croanyl was creeping through the bushes, following Logan, hearing Ophelia cry out to Echo...was that the wolfess' name? Seemed so...she did repeat/echo his words when he spoke...interesting.

Logan ran until his legs felt like they were going to fall off, and nearly rammed right into Ophelia, and he was nearly out of breath, "Ophelia...do you...know...where...she is?" he spoke in between breaths trying to calm his breath. He was getting extremely worried.

Croanyl lay in the bushes cover, seeing what the other wolfess would say...would be interesting also if these two had a quarrel...

Ophelia jerked back as Logan nearly trampled her, bouncing upwards to avoid the collision. But before she had even landed, the female was already yelling. “What do you mean where is she?” Ophelia snapped, her front legs hitting the ground. “You were with her!” She shouted, and stalked to the left of the male. “You tell me where she is! What did you say to her?”

She had been nursing hope that Echo was with Logan this entire time. Now...it seemed like that was not the case. Furiously, she bristled and sidestepped to the left, her tail erect and her ears jutting forwards.

“What did you do to her?”

Logan folded his ears back and took a step back putting up a defense against Ophelia, "I didn't do anything! I thought she was with you!" He spoke after he caught his breath. Ophelia seemed furious at him, but he didn't do anything or say anything to Echo to make her run away or anything.

"Maybe she just went to hunt or something...but I honestly thought she was with you, I've been looking for you two the whole morning!" he said defensively. This was seeming so good.

In the bushes that sheilded him Croanyl was merely chuckling to himself, they were both foolish and idiotic in their own way, blaming eachother for the disappearance fo Echo...how entertaining to watch. But Croanyl thought it was time to make things MORE interesting,

"Lost something you two?" he askied innocently in a grin while he stepped out into the open. It was obvious he wasn't from around here, but the salt masked his scent, "The girl right? You won't find her here...she's been...taken care of..." he said with a satanic grin upon his maw.

Logan's eyes narrowed at this gray newcomer. Was this the wolf Daemon had spoken of?
"Where...is...she." Logan asked, anger in his voice, what had this wolf done to Echo...or was he bluffing?

Croanyl chuckled to himself as his white eyes then wandered over to Ophelia, "What does it matter now, when she's gone...you look just like her." he said to Ophelia with a smirk.

Oh yes, this would turn out to be interesting.

Ophelia locked eyes with Logan, and snorted irritably. “Echo doesn’t just go off and hunt on her own!” She yelled. Idiot! Did he know nothing about her? Well...would she? Quickly, Ophelia dismissed the thoughts and shook her head. No, Echo wouldn’t have. It wasn’t like Echo to be gone like this- and it wasn’t like Echo to be out so late last night. This had to have something to do with it. There were no coincidences in Ophelia’s mind.

But when the grey male approached from behind, for the moment, Ophelia had to mark this one up for coincidence.

“Oh, that’s ******** brilliant!” Ophelia spat towards the male. “Of course we look alike!”

...But- wait a second...? She’d never seen this fellow before. Logan was starting to take an aggressive posture, and at once, the lean female felt her heart sink.

Had something really happened to Echo?

Croanyl was taken back a bit by the other wolfess' outburst, but quickly regained his composure, as she seemed a bit shocked or so...perfect. "Bit agitated are we?" he asked in a bitter sweet voice, "Your sister is quite the pretty girl..."

"Don't even talk of her....where is she!" Logan growled as his tail no longer swayed at all. What had this new comer done? Where was Echo...so many bad visions were scrambling through his head. The scent of Echo was faintly upon him, but Logan didn't like that fact....his eyes widened a bit.

That means this wolf was too close to her.

Something in his gut turned adn he felt sick and angry, but Echo couldn't...she couldn't be dead no...he'd die. Logan would kill this b*****d...he'd have to.

"Why can't I talk of her...she's so small adn frail, hardly able to put up a fight when I-" Croanyl was then cut off by Logan snarling, "Tempter tempter..."

"I asked you a question! Where is she!" Logan snarled, but he got no answer. This wasn't good, what if this wolf had hurt Echo...what would he do? Logan promised to protect her...he promised..and he had already failed.

Logan noticed Croanyl was looking at Ophelia with an odd gleam in his eye...no, he wouldn't let him get near Ophelia either...no. But Logan didn't want to say ehr name either, so this wolf would know, "Go try and find Echo...I won't let him near either of you...please go and find her..." when he spoke he sounded heart broken.

Croanyl grinned at Logan, did he really think he could cause him any pain? Interesting...seemed like Logan would have to learn the hard way.

Ophelia snorted, and leaned her weight against the left side of her body. Just who did this guy think he was, saying things like that? Looking at her like that? She bristled and took a step to the side, a welling feeling of concern slowly flooding through her chest. For as perceptive as she claimed to be, Ophelia suddenly felt very slow on the intake. It was blatantly obvious he was baiting them- and she was even falling short of the bait. Hurt Echo?...

But the last thing she wanted to hear was Logan suddenly telling her what to do. Nothing but anger welled in her frame, and she was unwilling to allow either of them to change her mind set. Furiously she balked; before deciding to comply with Logan simply on familiar turns.

In a quick, she dashed around the pair and bolted, following what remained of Echo’s scent.

Croanyl grinned as Ophelia seemed upset of what had occured so far in this day...this was only the beginning...yes, just the beginning. This fact stayed in Croanyl's mind, it made him grin with an even more dark sense before.

Watching Ophelia bolt off Croanyl shifted himself to give chase, but was met with a pair of angry eyes in his path. "Move." Croanyl stated in a definite tone, and Logan didn't budge an inch.

"No. You threatened her didn't you...you got close to her...I won't let you touch EITHER of them...ever...do you understand?" Logan stated harshly, his blood beginning to boil, his restraint held on a thin line, threatening to break at any moment.

And Croanyl knew this...

Grinning and pacing around Logan in a circle a smirk on his maw at all times, "Do you know what I am?" he snarled at Logan, Logan returning the favor, "Do you know what I can do to you? More importantly...what I did to her..." Croanyl said lightly, as if coaxing Logan into attacking first.

He fell for it.

In a clash of claws and fangs both lunged forward, both ripping into flesh and fur, then standing their ground. Logan getting the deeper of gashes. Logan promised he would take care of her, and he had already failed. He promised her...and he wouldn't go without revenge on this creature. He'd protect Opehlia and Echo from him now.

Even if it meant his own life for their survival.

Again they lunged at eachother with snarls and yelps everytime one hit teh other with a deep gash or painful blow. Again and again they struck one another, until Logan lost his fotting and fell on his side on the ground and yelped somewhat.

Turning his head Logan looked up to see Croanyl's white eyes gleam with victory, though none were determined as of this moment. Logan wouldn't give up though, and tried pushing himself to stand but with one push of Croanyl's paws against Logan's shoulder, he fell against the ground again. Croanyl's paw under his chin, leaving Logan's neck exposed.

Croanyl grinned and leaned down to whisper in Logan's ear, "Death...is only the beginning..." Logan's eyes went wide with shock as Croanyl lifted his head once more and grinned, fangs gleaming with Logan's blood already, as Croanyl lunged his maw down, Logan feeling the sharpness cut into him quickly...and the darkness start to call his name.

This, was only the beginning.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Echo lay in a pathetic heap of fur. She just felt no need to try and do anything like escape. That wolf, whoever he had been, had told her to stay put or he would harm her sister and Logan. He had obviously done something to her while she was knocked out, so now there was no doubt in her mind that he was serious.

"Sister..." she whined to herself, not even thinking that she could contact Ophelia if she wanted to. She was simply in a state of mind where nothing mattered and there was no point in trying to escape.

To her, there was simply no answer. Either way she looked at it--if she escaped or stayed--something bad was going to happen. That wolf that had come after her was a shady fellow and looked like he'd caused plenty of violence in his lifetime. She felt horribly unlucky to be caught in his path at this time in her life, at a point when she had finally found a home and was happy.

Sighing to herself, the omega simply rolled onto her side and lay there. Life, as she knew it, sucked.

Sister- The words pooled into Ophelia’s mind, and she picked up the pace. “Echo!” She barked out, rounding a loop around a large tree. No response this time, and her heart throbbed at a deafening beat. He had done something to her? She had been right-! This was a terrible idea, coming here. What kind of dark place brought these things upon the lands? Furiously she hopped over another obstacle.

"Echo! Where are you?"

It seemed that Ophelia wasn't too far away from her twin, for Echo heard her words, if only faintly. But she regarded them as mere hallucination. She didn't know where she was, but for some reason she didn't think that it'd be so close to where her sister was. Unless she traveled a long way to find her? But she hadn't been gone that long had she?

Nonetheless, despite all of the doubtful thoughts running through her head, she murmured something.

"Echo... I'm here, sister. In some rocks." Legs shaking, she attempted to stand up. But the shock from the blow to the head and the fact that a dangerous wolf was out there and knew who her family was caused her to simply fall back down to the ground again.

Shaking her head, she coughed and wheezed, placing her head on the ground as she placed her forepaws over her face.

"Sister..."

Ophelia’s paws slipped against the thorny terrain, although in retrospect it might have been her nerves which caused the unsteady grasp. A low thrumming sound was echoing in her head. It was Echo, it had to be- but the voice was so faint she could not even hear it. Was Echo trying? It almost seemed like a dream.

“Echo!” she yelled out again, and spilled down the edge of the lowlands, and moved across the flat earth. “-Echo!”

–rocks. She managed to hear, and with a jolt, she stopped her footsteps and spun around back towards the incline. She was near some rocks? Inhaling sharply, the lean female placed her nose to the earth and began to sway. It was a dull, earthy smell- but she could smell that strange wolf upon the soil. It burned her skin and caused her to move quickly back up the slope, her nimble feet dodging nervously as she considered the rocks around her.

Another turn- and she got a scent. This time she moved much more defiantly, her tail bouncing behind her as she scrambled up the dusty stones, pawing at the moss covered earth. From the far right she spotted the small lump of brown and white, and nimbly she jumped over the rocks, and scrambled towards her. “Echo!”

Echo's folded ears perked only slightly when she heard the voice of her sister. To her, they were nothing but a dream. A hallucination that would simply disappear if she tried to look at it. So she kept her face covered with her paws, and tried to talk to her dream while still not looking at it.

"Sister. That wolf... he hurt Echo." She paused for a moment to cough and shift around. "He... did something to her while she was knocked out." Deep down she knew what it was, but she simply didn't want to say it, fearing that the words themselves would come out and strangle her. "He threatened that if I tried to escape he would hurt you and Logan." She shook her head and sniffled.

"Please... sister... stay away."

A low growl bubbled up in her throat, although it was not aimed towards Echo. Nervously Ophelia dodged around the rocks, her paws scraping to get ahold as her frantic body contorted back and forth. She was already having flashbacks to the last time she had found Echo in such a condition, and it made her heart burn.

“Hurt me?” She muttered in a somewhat detached manner. “I’ll be the one hurting him!” Her mind was flexing and grabbing, but she couldn’t allow herself to settle on a realization of what Croanyl might have done to her. Her mind wouldn’t let her do that yet, not until their was safety. “It’s alright Echo, I’m here. You have to get up Echo, we’ll get away from this place-!”
