This is my style that I have activley been working on. It is a stlye that basiclly imitates the movements of animals and nature. I know it may sounds childish of someone to just think they can "create" a style, but I am serious, this has been a four year deal. Okay, the basics, There are four root stances of technique Fire Stance - a quick and powerful offensive stance Water stance - a more flowing, puncturing t'ai chi-like style Earth stance - a straight line power house defensive stance kind of like Kenpo Wind Stance - a quick flowing art like most chinese/Shaolin styles
My style take a long time to get good at, but once you do you are a better fighter than most martial artists; Because, You are far more unpredictable than everyone else, I have practitioned in many Martial arts and Ikimono ryu has a little bit of everything in it. Now then, Certain animals belong to different root elements. an example of this would be, The Monkey stance belongs to the Fire style The snake style belongs to the water style The ox belongs to the earth style and the bird belongs to the wind style
All the animals in my style are the Zodiac animals,(With a few moves that emulate other animals, but they don't have styles.) So these include Horse Ram Monkey chicken rat dog boar snake ox dragon tiger rabbit
I will post more details later, but this style is still a work in progress, but it has proven very good so far. My school has a martial arts club and so far I am undefeated just because people get so confused to my style.

What does the name mean? And why all the asian mytholgy references? I mean... sounds kind of hokey...
I have my own style of fighting as well... but I wouldn't call it an new style or art... It's just what works best for myself taking into account of my weight, strength, and past training. My style works best for big dudes with broad shoulders, but would most likely get a skinny guy pummeled.

The idea in ikimono ryu is to adapt to however your opponent is fighting. The choice to be either fluid and circular, or Stiff and linear Even if you're fighting someone whom you have faught before you can change your style so that they still don't know whats coming. No I will go over the different aspects of the four root stances and the aspects of the twelve different animal styles.

Fire Stance - Fire stance is a quick paced fluid style. The idea is not so much to go for quick powerful moves that can end a fight, but more so to use tons of small attacks to weaken your opponent over time. The style consists of many Jabs and spin kicks. The animals that accompany this style are - The Monkey The Tiger The Dragon. Fire stance relies on more dodging than blocking and lots of counters, especially with the monkey style. Monkey- Monkey style was the easiest for me to create because I had alot to base it off of. In the Monkey style you're always moving, and you are usually lower to the ground kind of huddled over with your knees bent. Like small sparks that eventually burst into flames. An Example of someone using the Monkey style would be like this. I am attacked by a man with a knife The man jumps at me and goes for a stab to my sternum, I duck under the knife and come up with a knife hand to their wrist to disarm them, then latch onto their arm and pull them to the ground where I start to beat on them with as much force as possible. Tiger- The tiger style uses alot of hard palm "Claw" like strikes, the tiger style incorporates much more upper body attacks and doesn't use very many kicks. Like a steady, but strong fire slowly overtaking the wood. an example I am attacked by a man with a knife, He jumps at me and trys to stab my sternum I jump to the side at the last minute and strike him with my fist in the face, I then grab his wrist with one hand an smash his forarm with my other hand using my elbow, I then pull him in close and shoulder him in the face. Dragon- Dragon style uses alot of very hard hits in a very quick amount of time, The idea is to hit as hard and as quick as humanly possible. Like a raging fire consuming everything in its path. Example - same scenario - After the man leaps at me I kick his arm and grab the knife and stab him with it then poceed to claw at his face with on hand and punch him in the rib cage with the other, I then kick out his legs from under hi, and kick him in the throat while he is down.

Water- Water style can be either very fast or very slow. Water style consists of accuracy, hitting alot of pressure points and vital areas of the body. The movements and form of water is alot like t'ai chi. The style consists of counters and pressure point attacks. The animals in water form are: The Snake The Rat The Dog Snake- Snake is by far one of my best forms, it is where you hit your opponents pressure points very hard and very accurately. You also fight from every angle, bending to fight opponents from behind, on the ground, from the side. Insnaring your opponent with your body then striking where it hurts. Like rushing water surrounding you and destroying you. An example sad same as above post) After the attack has jumped at me I grab his forarm and dig my index and middle finger into the pressure point on his arm, then put my leg inbetween his and sweep him, from there I wrap one arm around his neck and use my other arm to stop him from struggling by jabbing my thumb into his temple. Rat- The rat is a low stance that is used to throw your oppenent off guard and off balance, using small attacks to the lower body such as jabs and kicks. Like a puddle slipping you Example : I grab the mans arm and pull it to the ground, I then kick out his legs and finish him with a kick to the throat Dog - The dog stance is a more power form for water style, but is also a counter style, there are no first strikes in dog style, you only react when your opponent acts, like a wave rocking a ship. Example: Man attacks me with knife, I grab his wrist and step to the side thrusting his body into the same direction as before, throwing him off his balance, he gets up and tries to punch me but I counter his punch by grabbing his arm and bending it behind him followed up with a take down arm bar to the ground.

So basically you took different situational stances from mixed martial arts and gave them animal names?
