Keeper quietly escaped from his den. Drey was still in town since he wasn't here with him. But this late at night? What could keep the guy away from him. The blue dustling whined a little when he felt empty without the human around.

Drey...

There was once place where the dustling could calm himself and that was beside the lake. Luckily, the lake was not too far from their den which made it easy for him to move from den to lake and back and easy water access.

At night it was magnificent, the lake was so pure and calm, untouched by soiled hands until the sun rises again. The moon's rays hit down upon it's surface casting a great white glow. Keeper hated to touch it and destroy it's perfection, but he was thirsty. Slowly he dipped his head down and drank the cool liquid.

Kotori
Mizu quiet crept back to the lake. She had done this maybe twice or three since she had seen that mer-creature that beautiful night. She sighed contently as that single second of the memory flashed in her mind. She laughed a little returned back to her path to the lake.

Her human companion was worried when she return wide-eye and vague because she wasn't sure how to take it. However, she knew she wanted to meet her.. one day. Thus her journey to the lake had started for each night, to finally meet.

So far nothing but she was hopefully for each night. The way over to the lake was a little far from where the human lived but she would happily quench her thirst once she gets to lake. This evening maybe different, she hoped.

Foot steps shattered the silent night, someone was nearby. Keeper's movements froze in place to listen. The foot steps were near and soft, a female? The dragon's tail twitched as he lefted his head, water drops slowly falling off his beak.

Must show respect to all visitors here. he thought. Quitely, Keeper made his way towards the foot steps to give a proper welcome to Serpents Lake....when he was around. Wonder who it is?

She was getting thirsty from walking for some time. At least it is much cooler in the evening, Mizu thought. She felt a wift of mist gently pass, and started to trot towards the direction the mist passed. The quicker she moves the quicker she can take a sip of the cool water.

She tilted and turned her muzzle taking a breath or two trying to find where the water source was. Mizu walked through the grass blades froze in her spot. A large creature stood just a couple steps in front of her. Her eyes widen in surprise and then in fear. W-what do i do..?

Keeper bowed gracefully. "Welcome, stranger, to Serpent's Lake." he welcomed. The Dustling brought his head up with a smile. "What brings you to this serene place at this time at night?" he asked. He stood straight and tall and smiled warmly at the female dragon.

Keeper stepped aside, "Please, drink." he urged with another bow. This was custom that Keeper did every night when he was out of the den. Though he doesn't get out much, he memorized every word and gesture that his human counterpart had taught him to act in the city.

She blinked, looking quite confused and flustered at the towering creature. Never in the days she lived has she seen such a large dustling before. Her human friend had said that there was male counterpart to her own species but never could she imagine to stumbled into an encounter like this.

Mizu opened mouth but closed it shut when she could not find her voice. In the very least, he sounded kind. She made an attempt of a nod but it sort of came out as a jerk of the head. She lowered her head and went by quick to drink, feeling awkward and stiff rather then flowy and lithe.

Keeper sat down quietly, tail swinging behind him, as the female drank. The dragoness seemed nervous around him as if she has never seen a tall male before or something. To be true, he has never seen a female dragoness either. Inside of him was telling him to go home. He tried his best to talk nicely and calmly and luckily it worked. Every now and then his tail twitched.

"Proper manners require that I should give my name before asking for another's. Drey has dubbed me Keeper." he said with a bow. "What is your name, stranger?" he asked with the same settled voice. Inside he was flustered but he tried his best to mask it.

She raised her head to him and smiles ever so slightly. Manners, he called them, were foreign to her since she was much of a child at heart. He certainly likes to bow a lot, she noted, it must be a part of the manners he was speaking about. Keeper.. strange to be given a name like that.

Mizu sat down and tried to look settle though in her mind raced a million a minute. "My name?" She asked in a quiet voice then answered looking to the lake. "I was christen Mizu by Kotori, my human friend."

"Mizu, that is quite a unique name I must say." he smiled. Another human? He always knew Drey all his life. He had never seen another one such like him. Keeper always thought that Drey was the only human and that the city was a place of dustlings. But if what Mizu said was true then there are other humans out there.

"So Mizu, if you don't mind me asking, would you mind telling me more about Kotori?" he asked. He wanted to know more. Since Drey was his life and only companion, are there more like him out there? Through his eyes if there were humans, they were all like Drey.

"As to yours too, Keeper" She said as well. She knew that she and her human companion was a solitutious type, Mizu never fathom the idea that she might really be living a close lit way. In her life it was only her and Kotori then came Mystfire but nothing in her wildest thoughts expect this.

She tilted her head in a curious expression, wondering only slightly the whereabouts such a question came but after pondered how to answer. "She's... who she is." Mizu chuckled softly. " It's hard to describe i guess." She said thoughtfully.

"Kotori is a human that cares.. and worries boundlessly." Her eyes smiled in an expression one can't describe in words or phrases. "However, her devotion always made me marvel at her being." She smiled wistfully and then chuckled. "But then she trips or have a klutzy moment which makes me think that all have things that don't make all of us perfect." She noticed how she acted and lowered her gaze to the ground. "Sorry."

"No need to apologize, Mizu. There was nothing to apologize for." he assured. It would seem that not all humans are like his Drey. Mizu spoke with great passion of her friend, she loved her as a friend would.

"Drey is sort of the same. Kind and caring. Though often he gets lots in his studies that I am alone. But when he comes out of his room, he's still the same ol' Drey I knew." he trailed off. "I just don't like it when he goes to the city. He's gone for so long...." the only reason why Keeper hated the city and loved being outdoors. Because Drey wouldn't leave him alone for a long time.

"Have you ever been to the city, Mizu?" His curiousity was getting the best of him.

He sounded a little sad when this Drey person leaves for the city or in his room studying. Mizu began more curious to wanted to know more about the humans and her own species.

She blinked a little and tilted her head questionably. "The city?" She repeated and shook her head. "No, i haven't i'm afraid to say... though... i'm not quite sure what it is." Se said a little embarrassed.

"Oh....alright." he wanted to know more about the city so Keeper could go there himself and see Drey. The reason why he hated the city was that Drey always disappeared for long periods of time. If he can go to the city then he can see Drey!

Now, his curiousity peaked. "So you are a female? Drey has told me a lot about us, Dustlings. He studies everything, but mostly us." he said euthusiastically. That was probably why he knew how to handle Keeper with such care and kindess. Drey studied Dustlings to get closer to Keeper! The male smiled at the fact. Keeper would do anything for Drey, anything...okay, almost anything.

She blinked and then giggled. Excitable, she thought that as well. "The last that i was told, yes." She answered. "Though Kotori didn't do much research on me- i mean us" She corrected as she remember she was talking to another of her kind.

She looked at his smile and smiled back. He cares for this Drey human, that's so ..cute. She couldn't think of any other way to say it. "Well if has studied about us, won't he have any more questions about us?" She asked thinking about it now.

Actually, Keeper never dwelled on that. He usually never bothered Drey while he studied in his room unless permitted to. Often times strange noises come from there; explosions, sizzling, and sometimes breaking glasses. Drey's room was sort of an egnigma to the dragon. He should barge in some time.

"Well, he has lots of questions. That's why he goes to the city where he can talk with Dustlings. I guess." he didn't really know what exactly goes on in the city. He always thought that there was some huge place where Drey goes to talk with other Dustlings and study on a wider scale. "But he was always curious about something more personal. He likes to talk about personal things alot..." Keeper remembered the time when Drey asked Keeper what he'd do if another Dustling, another male was in the den. And what he would do if there was a female. Drey was wierd, quizzical, but still wierd.
