We'll what happened was that Jor-el went inside him to get to Clark. Now Lionel can't chose this. I think that since Lionel knew about Clark's powers Jor-el choose him, plus he was corrupted by krptonian junk and stuff.

At the end of season 4 (I think) Jor-El possessed Lionel for the first time and then seemed to become dormant. I don't think Lionel even knew he had been possessed. But he knows it now, pretty much ever since he started having mini spasms and writing kryptonian symbols down. I used to wonder if Lionel was Jor-El all the time and was just acting out Lionel's life, but we know that that was a very incorrect assumption. I'm looking forward to having Jor-El pay another visit in Lionel's body, probably in the very beginning of this next season.

ok ok ok. First no offense Faith but you have it wrong....in a sense.
The first time Lionel was posessed by Jor-el WAS NOT at the end of season 4. It was the begging of Season 3 in Mortal after he was sent to Clark to explain why he was brought back to life and the consequence of having him ressurected. But at the end of season 4 when Lionel had the stone in his pocket and the stone was calling out to Clark, it opened up Lionel's body to become the vessel for Jor-el. But Lionel was put into a Kryptonian Trance, or Coma if you will. During that coma Lionel was being "prepared" as was Lex when he was "abducted". Lionel does not get to choose when he becomes Jor-el, JOR-EL choose when he can posess Lionel. Lionel has no control over it. JOr-el only posesses Lionel when he needs to get a message through to Clark or needs to help Clark in some way. Such as in Oracle when Lionel says "Here, i wrote this message in my sleep" and it was a Kryptonian symbol for ZOd. It was a warning.

It was a warning. ohhh, okay. see, even though there are only 5 seasons, i sometimes forget what happened in each of them. i get them mixed up sometimes. i did think that the first time that Jor-El possessed Lionel was when he went all crazy for the first time and started scratching things in the floor and had the white-eyed look, and then got put in the psych ward, etc. (That is the first time, right?). I guess that was the season 2 finale/beginning of season 3. No, wait, wasn't the end of season 2/beginning of season 3 where clark was on red K in Metropolis and Chloe started working for Lionel? I think so. So it would have been the end of season 3 then. okay. i think i've got it now. maybe.

Sorry wasn't paying attention to the VEngeance Part. Lionel was not actually "possessed" by Jor-el until he sat up out of the trance in Hidden. He was still in his "preparation" coma in Arrival when he was scrating into the floor
