Title: Protective Storms

Pairing: Trowa/Quatre

Warnings: Fluff, Sadness, Cuteness

Summary: Trowa and Quatre have a fight. Their emotions run high and cooling off shows them what they've been missing, and what they have to give to one another.

Disclaimer: Don't own the boys, or the songs used. I don't mention song names, but the bands I was thinking about are My Chemical Romance and AFI. Chapter dedication to the one who can guess the AFI song.

Notes: I am *NOT* a fluff writer. I'm a lemon/graphic writer by nature... I want to know if this is worth continuing. I can take all kinds of critiques. Please let me know!

"Trowa, I didn't have a choice!"

The brunette spun to face him, eyes filled with rage. He seemed to tower over his little lover, who stood his ground.

"There's always a choice Quatre..."

Quatre shook his head, blond locks falling into his eyes.

"What kind of a choice did I have? You or me? What did you think I was going to do? Offer you?"

"I'd have preferred it that way Quatre. Look at you now. You're a mess."

"Trowa! You know my heart! You know I never want anything to happen to you!"

"You know me as well Quatre, and you know that anytime something bad happens, I protect you."

"You can't always do that Trowa... Why am I not allowed to protect you?"

"You can't Quatre... You just can't."

Quatre's head shot up, eyes locking onto his lover's.

"I can't protect you? I protected you...."

His voice choked, and his eyes burned with tears. Taking a long deep breath, he squared his shoulders, tilted his chin up, and walked past Trowa, towards the door.

"Why don't you..."

Before he could finish the thought he vanished out the door. Trowa stood in shock, mouth hanging open. He heard the sound of a door shutting and a high-class engine purring to life. Lights flashed by a window, followed by a dark blue car and a pair of dim taillights. He cursed under his breath, grabbed his jacket off the table and bolted out the door after him.

Inside his car; Quatre gripped the steering wheel with one hand, knuckles white. His other hand flipped through his cds on his visor, finally satisfied. He slid it into the player, turning up the volume, as the music began.

It was a mix cd that he'd made for when he got too emotional. He'd made it so the songs were a roller coaster, hoping that it would eventually calm him and put him in a less turbulent state.

Tears began to fall down his face as the first song began...

It was a copy of the duet that they'd played before they even knew one another's names... He'd forgotten that he'd managed to have it, and the overwhelming sadness gouged into his heart. He quickly skipped the song, unable to listen to it for fear of where it would cause his mind to go.

The next song was by some band who had loud guitar rifts and a screamily hot singer, which was followed by a song that more fit his emotions, a soft sound with hard words and images sung by a band with a gay singer and gay guitarist.

He drove aimlessly, playing his music until he came to a bridge that was well out of the way and rarely used. He parked the car and got out, walking to the middle of the bridge. He sat down on the edge, railing above his head, feet hanging off the edge. He sighed heavily and sat, wanting to cry, his strength gone.

At the sound of gravel crunching, he turned to see the other car, the one that Trowa drove pulling up behind his. The lanky brunette got out, jacket blowing against his body in a cold autumn breeze. Quatre shivered, having forgotten his jacket, clad in a thin button up shirt.

Trowa walked up and sat beside him, draping the leather over the blonde's shaking shoulders. He took a deep breath of fresh air and let it out slowly.

"I'm sorry Quatre... But it's just natural for me to wan to protect you. You're my light, and anything that could harm you would snuff you out... I don't want that... I want you to always burn brightly for me. The idea of you defending me..."

"I know it's weird, someone smaller, more delicate looking... But part of love is defending whom you fell in love with, keeping them safe. Showing the world to not mess with what's yours..."

Trowa put a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"You're right little one... I'll remember that."

He smiled softly, gently turning the blonde's face to his, kissing him softly and lovingly. Quatre's hands gripped softly at his love's upper arms, keeping himself anchored. They broke apart softly, Quatre resting his forehead over Trowa's heart while Trowa's hands caressed the blonde's back and face.

"Let's go home love," Trowa said softly.

Quatre nodded, when an idea popped into his head.

"When you get in your car, put the jade and aqua cd into the player and play the first song on repeat the whole way home."

Trowa raised an eyebrow and nodded softly before dipping down for another kiss.

"When we get home love, I'm going to fix up the bedroom for a nice romantic evening and make love to you gently until you can't move. Then when you're able to move again, you'll make love to me as well."

He stood, helping the blond to his feet and walking him into his car. He shut the door for him and climbed into his own before backing up and beginning the drive home. He reached for the specified cd and popped it in, tears and a smile filling his face at the first sweet notes.

"I love you Quatre, and I'm sorry," he whispered, looking back at the blonde in his mirror.

Aw, that's cute ^^

I think you should pull out a bit more angst by having them stay apart a little bit longer

Then the ending would come more as a relief and a happy one at that ^^

It was adorable; but I do agree with the girl who said that you should put more in the middle. That way, you'd have more to write about.
