So many Christians are frustrated because they go to God with their wish list and ask for all kinds of things but wonder why they never get them. They don't understand why He is silent. Sometimes we don't get what we ask for because we don't know God's will; we need to search his Word to discover it. Other times, we ask with selfish motives, forgetting that we are put to put others before outselves. Then other times, we ask for something, but we talk as though we don't really believe God is going to answer it. There is a misconception about unanswered prayer. We think the only goal of prayer is to get a bunch of stuff that we ask God for. But the goal of prayer is to get to know Him. He blesses us when we have sought Him with all our might.
Lord, today I am hungry for you. Fill me up with more of you as I pray. I commit to doing more than asking for my list of things; I will go after you in my prayer time to find out what you want. In Jesus' name, Amen

Very well put. "Unanswered" prayer leads many to not believe in Him. People often fail to understand that some things aren't meant to be had, even though we feel they are necessities. Also, some "unanswered" prayers may be a test of faith, or perhaps something to make us take a step back and decide what's really important in life. Or perhaps your prayers have been answered in a way you don't expect or see. For example, I have headaches everyday. Prayer hasn't taken them away, but maybe there's something that I'm doing wrong or just haven't done yet. I seriously doubt that God WANTS me to suffer. He's just seeing what I'll do IF I'm in this boat, and I think the devil is responsible for most of the pain anyway, since my head hurts the worst when I do anything involving the Lord. And on the other hand, even though I have headaches, I don't have any health problems. All of the tests I've ever had have come back crystal clear. Good health is always something to be thankful for. biggrin Besides, I have other gifts.

I have heard it said that God has three answers to prayer: No .... Yes .... and Wait. I know in my life, quite a lot of the time, it's WAIT. I used to hate that, but now after having been burned by people/situations that I went ahead of the Lord with, I have learned the value of Wait, and I am more content to do so. Not to say, that it isn't still a struggle sometimes.
