Kirjava just had to leave the Pridelands. She didn't feel comfortable there, she didn't feel comfortable anywhere. She heaved a sigh before the familiar landscape came to her. The crater where her life almost started in a different path. There would have been a pride here, but things just seemed to have fallen apart. This was a place of her memories...a place where she had met friends, and what seemed like ages ago. Slavery had taken a toll on this lioness. Her ribs showed through her skin, her eyes sunken a bit, and they had lost their light. She felt just like her sister, Kiburi. Dead to the world with no purpose in it. What was Kirjava's purpose in this world. As she laid there underneath the tree, her crimson eyes landed on her son, who was sleeping by her side. She had never intended on having a cub, but a male lion is much more stronger than they appear. And, the fact that made it slightly worst was that her son was different. He had the appearance of a Firekin, those red pelts who had enslaved her in the first place. While she loved her son with her whole being, he was a constant reminder of her past. A mistake that she had made.

While she laid here lost in thought, there was so much that had happened to Kirjava. She couldn't believe how naive she was back when Teleka had captured her as a slave. She shook her head at the thought. And even when she thought she could trust Teleka, he was the one that ran Aleu off and turned out to be a two-faced lion, nothing like she had pictured him as. She heaved another sigh as her stomach began to grumble, but she was used to it by now. She was used to being hungry all the time since she barely ate in the desert, she gave most of her food to Ravi. If anything, he was her legacy in this world and nothing more. Though, she was grateful for fates introducing her to Kiburi. She loved her sister dearly and wished that she has gotten free from their wretched life. Kiburi deserved so much more than Kirjava could ever hope for. She adored her sister, and she knew that her son loved his Aunt dearly.

She curled her tail protectively around her son. Her constant reminder of the past, but when she thought back to her response to Aleu, it was all true. Her son had changed everything about her, and if it wasn't for him, then things might have been differently. If it wasn't for her wandering to the desert, then things might have been differently. And therefore, there were just some things that she can't control in her life. Her tired crimson eyes gazed over the landscape. She could vaguely remember this part of her life, when the ground shook violently here or wandering around with Miroki. It seemed like distance memories, dreams perhaps because it appeared too perfect in her unperfect life.

Her ears flicked, where had all the lions gone? Had they started new lives in other places? Kirjava lowered her head a bit as she could feel a gentle breeze ruffle her fur. The past would always haunt her, and she knew that she'd never be able to move on. There would always be something that'd keep her memories fresh, like a wound that never heals. Her son. Why did she have to trust that lion? Why couldn't she be like her friend, Aleu, or even Kiburi, and find a good male for her? Always the one to find the rotten apples. But she couldn't blame her son for coming into existence, he was but an innocent soul that has blessed her otherwise meaningless life.

Even when she was in the Pridelands going to see Kiburi's parents, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable by the whole thing. Walking in another's territory to find a couple she had never seen nor knew before now. It made her sick to her stomach to see the drastic change her life has taken, all by a naive choice of following after Teleka and "joining" his pride. She didn't join it! She was a slave! No better than the prey animals they ate for meals. She was worthless to them...but was she worthless to herself? No, she couldn't be or else she wouldn't be raising a wonderful son. Crimson eyes shifted to his sleeping form. How was he so perfect? So friendly? So innocent? She didn't know the answer, nor did she think that she would ever find out in this life-time. Looking back up towards the sky, she could see the stars twinkling brightly against the darkness. One day, she'd be up there with all the other lions who had passed on from this world. Would Ravi remember her after she was gone? Would he live a better life and start a family of his own one day? She hoped so, so he would get to experience everything she hasn't been able to provide him. It made her seem inadequate as a mother.

Shaking all of the thoughts out of her head, Kirjava knew better than to have such depressing thoughts. It wouldn't do any good for her or Ravi, mainly Ravi. Speaking of which, her crimson eyes gazed over at his sleeping form, and she couldn't help but awe at him. He was so perfect, so precious...she was never like that. Her son was more things than she ever was. A sigh escaped from her before she bent her head down to lick his cheek softly, it was dusk afterall and time to go inside the crater. In a soft voice to wake her son, "Ravi, come on Ravi. Time to go."

Sound asleep, Ravi could sleep through just about anything. But, when it came to his mother, he was awake in an instant. His job was to protect her, he had promised his Auntie Kib that, and he wouldn't take back his word on that promise! Blinking his golden eyes, his maw opened to jaw before turning towards his mother. "Time to leave already?" He stretched before pushing himself up and waiting on his mother to show the way.
