Does anyone know what the chances of pregnancy are if one is on birthcontrol and is taking it properly?

Any information is gladly taken into consideration and much thanks to anyone who can offer some information.

What type of birth control is it? I assume you're talking about the Pill.

Depends what you're on. The percentage an range from 85% - 99.9%.
Look at this site for information on the different types of contraception and it's rates. And that's going on the fact it's being used properly.

Also, you can lower you chances of getting pregnant if you are using two forms of contraception (though there is still a risk of getting pregnant, nothing can be 100%).

There's a whole subforum here devoted to birth control. This sticky, from that subforum, might help:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=379478

Kyra already gave a link which should also have information. If you're referring to hormonal birth control, most methods are 99% or better. The Pill and the Patch, according to the last I heard from Planned Parenthood, are 99% effective against pregnancy. Norplant (the implant in your arm) is about 99.6% effective. Depo Provera (the injection) is 99.7%, but has a whack of side effects and is very strong. Things like a diaphram and spermicide are less effective because there is greater room for error. Condoms, according to Planned Parenthood, are said to be about 98% effective, but I've heard that you should assume that they're closer to about 95% effective (because of defects, incorrect usage by the wearer, etc).

As always, the effectiveness rates listed are the ones given when you take your birth control perfectly. Since that doesn't always happen, it's sometimes safer to assume it's a couple of percent lower than what's listed. And of course, with some forms like the Pill and the Patch, whenever you miss a pill/patch the effectiveness decreases.

And, as Kyra also already said (she beat me to everything sweatdrop ), there is no guarantee that you can't get pregnant. The only thing 100% effective against pregnancy is abstinence. So even if you're on two or more forms of birth control, you can still get pregnant - the chances of it happening just decrease with the more methods you use (ie - A condom, and the Pill, with spermicide, etc).
If you can't afford to get pregnant at this point in your life, waiting and abstaining might be a better option.

Thanks for all the info, but does anyone know if leaving the pills in the car can effect their potency?

Most medications are affected, especially it being summer. Look on the package, there should be a label saying at what temperature to store the medication.

From my Pill package (Cyclen Discreet):

Quote:
Store between 15 - 25 degrees Celcius. Leave contents in protective packaging until time of use.

My Depo booklet says about the same - 15-25 degrees Celcius. Don't leave them in the car, to make a long story short. Leave them in the package in a draw, or maybe under a counter or something. Someplace where its environment won't get too heated up.

Well, I left them in the car by accident...I think in the shade.

I took them regularly...Didn't think about the temperature... o.o;;

And when I did have sex with my boyfriend he didn't come inside me. -embarrassed- o.o;;

The whole "pull out" thing. So I should be ok, but I went off the pill a few days ago, and yet no period. o.o;;

It may be due to the fact I had missed a few on random days weeks prior and took them through my last period. I hate the damned thing so I sometimes just skip it. Probably not good for my body...So that could be why.

I haven't got a car right now, I'm in California visiting family right now... I may go get one when I get back, but right now I'm having a bit of a fit. I get back home on Tuesady.

Thank you to everyone for all of the help.

Although I'm pretty sure you know this already, pre-c** has sperm. So even if you two were having unprotected intercourse, and he didn't ejaculate, he might've still gotten some pre-c** in you. Just something to consider.

If your period doesn't come in a week, you can try taking a pregnancy test. Do remember that travel can throw your period off though, so that might be contributing to its lateness too.

This is not a fact, that I know of, but I believe that's a lot of unnatural stress to put on your body. Preventing one's body from preforming it's natural functions can't be good for it. I'm not saying it has ill effects, but I certainly don't think it's good.

I've heard that too. Depo does the same thing when you've been on it long enough. It's something she'd need to talk to her doctor about before trying it again without his/her advice.

There is only a 1% chance,which seems small, but my youngest sister,Eden, was one of those 1% of the times so I suggest using female condoms as back up.
