Doesn't it irritate you, when someone watches the newly released film, and claims they love The Phantom of the Opera? well, it makes me want to punjab them, those fools.

Things that annoy me most
1. fan girls saying "OMG he is sooo hott!!!!" ect,Ect. Do you not understand? Butler may be attractive but Erik was not, he was infact very ugly, and was described as 'looking at a corpse, or deathhead.'

2. When people ask what his name was, or write it as Eric, no ITS ERIK!

3. The fact that they totally left The Persian out of the movie.

4. People who say he sucks at singing. In EVERY phantom performance iv'e seen, The character of the Phantom has such a lovely voice, that it brings me to tears.

What annoys you as Phans?

Yeah, I hate when people say they're phans but they don't know Erik's name.

I'm pretty sure that whoever says "He's hot" is ONLY referring to Gerry.

I hat it when you talk about the songs/ lyrics and break it down to its meaning and they dont uderstand a thing. I also hate it when they say Erik was some weird crazy guy, he was just misunderstood. The charcter is really a sad and alone person just tring to reach out and feel alive.

1. Not hot. Totally rad besides that, but not "hawt."

2. ALW did not invent Don Juan for his musical. It was Leroux's idea. ALW just made it music.

3. "OMGI NOW EVRY L1N IN THAMOVEEE!!!1!!!!1!elventy!!!11!!!!" >.> Good for you.

And I have to agree on the other things said. :3

The narrowmindedness, the stagnation, and the double standards that fly up everywhere~

I actually have a lot of things I hate about so-called "phans."

ALW had Don Juan Triumphant be performed. That's what he invented for the musical.

I know, but in the extras of the movie he said that he created this idea "that the phantom constructed his own opera, Don Juan Triumphant." Which ALW did not create. >.>

I was pathetically angered when he said that. I'm not at all sure why.

It's because Webber thinks a lot more of himself than is really due credit. Don't worry, you're starting to grow into the phandom, which generally means feeling undue anger towards Webber and his cohorts.

Even when I was just starting out as a fan of POTO, noice i don't say "phan" I always felt some anger towards ALW...then I read the book and saw the other movies and realized he takes credit for things he didn't do.

I agree with everything all of you have said.

But it really annoys me when they have no understanding of Erik AT ALL.

I have a friend who claims to be a phan, but in the end she's really just a wannabe. She didn't even take the time to buy tickets to see it in Calgary (which is like, 2 hours from where we live) when she did shell out the cash for Cats when it was playing at the Jubilee auditorium in Calgary (same place as phantom).

I also hate that I got interested around the same time as when the movie came out (I haphazardly stumbled across the movie site when trying to find out about it, I got into it about 4 months before the movie's release). I feel like I'm being clumped in with the movie 'phans' because of it.

I have to say, I nearly crapped my pants when I saw that there'd be a movie, I thought I'd never have a chance to see it live (which I have, twice now).

For me, the movie was always a pipe dream that would never really happen due to Webber's blundering through the situation, his divorce with Sarah Brightman, etc. So for years, everyone was considering John Travolta as a possible Phantom and then Antonio Banderas (whom I would take now at this point, despite my adamance in years past c.c), and then suddenly Webber took back the reigns and after sixteen years of pretending to make the movie, it was suddenly there. It felt like a sneak attack rather than anything else. Too bad he had all this time to think about it and all that money to do it and still made a crappy film.
