I did that start with a circle and such method from the How to Draw Manga books. 3nodding Click for larger image. ^^ Tis blurry and dark because our scanner doesn't work, I used a digital camera.
EDIT: Yes, he's an original character, his name's Nozoru. I'm planning on making a comic-thing-a-ma-bob ^^ Although he won't be the main character.

i notice that boys in manga and anime with the longish hair rarely look like guys.

Really? I once thought that Integral from Hellsing was a dude, but she's a girl. eek I was like WTF? Nuriko from Fushigi Yugi is a dude right? O_o
