Loki, you must have a BS detector, the way you find all this stuff! This is the reason why I don't go near the forums- you might wade through 100000 posts of ignorant garbage to find just one where someone has actually thought about what they are saying and tried to see things from both sides. All you can do is laugh I guess.
I don't see how someone can be offended by a mother breastfeeding. It's not like you can see anything anyway- generally there is a baby in the way!! It's perfectly natural. I don't see why a baby should have to eat their lunch in a toilet.
But you're right- it's sad and funny....and frustrating what people will come up with.
heee hee - a baby with a SCHEDULE? Where do I sign up for one?!! xd

yeah a baby with a schedule domokun domokun domokun , i'm a new mother and i know for a fact that my baby does not run on a schedule....and i'm still learning the ropes with him! eek xp

*chuckles * I heard something sarah silverman said on Tought Crowd the other night about breastfeeding, but it's a bit crude.
I do feel uncomfortable about BFing, but I don't care. You gotta feed your baby. As for the cover yourself up thing, I've never seen a mother BFing in public not do that.
Psh, we should know our baby's schedules and internal clocks. If only it were that easy, right?
Heh, I'm not even going to read the whole thread or I'll get angry.

I read the first page, and couldn't read any more the ignorant people were making me angry!
I breast-fed both my kids, and yes it's not ideal to do it in public, but a mother shouldn't be locked in her house for ages just becausse there is a chance a baby might get hungry while she's out.
What made me most angry were the "she should go to the bathroom" comments. Do we expect them to take their meal to a bathroom? no - why do they expect us to feed our baby there.
Oh and of course if I'm bf-ing in public, I completely open my shirt / remove my tshit so my entire boob is on show - errrr, no.
/rant sorry, it's one of my "things" I'm very pro-breastfeeding!

My brother was highly allergic to all the formulas that they tried. He was breastfed for a very long time. I don't remember if they ever did find a formula he could drink. It's just proof to me that not all mother's can just give their baby formula.
I dunno. People can be strange.

Oy!! Some people. What do they think breasts are FOR? I think it is funny when men get offended by BFing... Because they like to do (almost) the same thing with breasts >_> I especially hated that guys response on the first page about the "unattractive" woman BFing on a restaurant... Who cares if she is unattractive? She isn't trying to attract you, she is feeding her baby!

I dont know, I breastfed in public, but thats normal around here, I really think its the womans choice, and some women arnt comphy being out in public, but I do like what they have around here, every mall in my town is equiped with a "Breast Feeding" room, it includes a recliner, change table, soft music playing and its private,
I think Im most glad that the person who posted the topic isnt the stupid person, and he agrees with it, and is questioning why society seem so against it.
Now as to the person who commented about the restaurant bit, I dont agree with the way he said that, because most people dont bring their children to a fancy restaurant, and breastfeed there, I had to go to a fancy restaurant once with Ayla while I was still breastfeeding, but I got out the pump and had a bottle for her just in case. But if your out at mc'donalds or something else, pfft.
LOL reading that I sound like a double standard.. but its true, there are some places where its appropriate, and I feel its socially acceptable, it is perfectly natural to breast feed a baby. and there is nothing wrong with it, and we cant decide when a young child is going to get hungry...
Point of all this being that if you feel its acceptable where you are, and you are comphortable, go for it.

She isn't trying to attract you, she is feeding her baby! during the time in my life when i was pregnant and didn't know it until i miscarried.. i was around this one girl a lot from my work who was pregnant. and, i asked her if she'd BF or not.. and she looked at my like i had s**t in my mouth and was like, "girl.... boobs are for men to suck on, not babies..." eek xp hands down one of the most ridiculous things i've ever had said to my face.

:/ Based on their responses, most of them haven't seen that many people BF either: I have yet to see a breast when I've noticed women feeding their babies and from what I've seen, they try to be as discreet as possible.
Saying that they should have to go to the bathroom is what bothered me most and I wish more places had a room like you described Gentle. Someone else in that thread lived in an area with them too.
