Charlie Parker. It was cheap, I was on the run, and it had a cool cover. Plus- how can the Bird be bad?

The last CD I bought was "Incredible Jazz Guitar" by Wes Montgumery. Before that, I bought another Charlie Christian CD. Both are very good, I would recommend.

They had ten dollar CD's at the grocery store yesterday, so I grabbed a new Ella Fitz (not very good..all really old stuff) and a top in Jazz one that I have yet to listen too. It doesn't look bad, though. Ten dollars, right?

How embarrasing. The last album I bought was Kaela Kimura "Kaela". It's a Japanese Import. Some call her Jrock, but she sounds Jpop to me. It's extemely silly and it's a guilty (Well not so much now that I'm old and comfortable with myself) pleasure. biggrin

I just bought Jaco Pastorious' self titled album about a half an hour ago, and so far it's really good. I picked up his live in NYC CD's one by one a while ago, and now I have all seven. I would say he inspired me more than any other artist to start playing electric bass. On another note, please don't kill me but...I think Miles Davis is overrated. Yes, he is good. Yes, he did a lot for jazz. Yes, I do like him. But does he deserve all of the credit for starting bebop and cool jazz, like so many people give him? No. I could be totally out of line, and you might be offended...but these are my feelings.

I recently picked up a few jazz CDs, the best one being The Great Summit. It's a well-deserved partnership between Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. It is absolutely fantastic. I also got Duk Ellington: Live at the Carnegie Hall - 1946. Very good. I also got a Coleman Hawkins CD, all good.

Dave Dounglas :Keystone. Amazing album, and the concept behind it is so far-fetched, you wouldn't expect it to work, but it does.

Got the new Herbie Hancock CD just to try it out, a live George Benson CD because it had Blue Bossa on it, and The Complete Birth of the Cool because I wanted another Miles album.
