Alrighty then.... I was playing DarkEden Online. And Im fighting this one dude. and I kick his a**..... Royally. I discovered that there is one standard we can trust all guys to live up to when they meet a girl online: ((The following is an actual conversation held on the game DarkEden Online last night.))
----- Him:"Aw, Man, No fair im a newbie! give me some slack brother!" Me: "Ehrm.... Im female." Him: "Ph! yeah right Girls dont play horror video games!" Me: "Your either 11 years old.... or you have never played an online game..." Him: "If girls DO play games they only play girly games like animal crossing and final fantasy and kingdom hearts" Me: "Hate Kingdom hearts..." >I begin beating him senseless again< Him: "Okay Man, cut it out..." Me: "Im a GIRL." >Half a minute passes< Him: "OMG.... your serious.." Me: "Duh." Him: "A/S/L, Are you hot? What are you wearing right now hunny?" Me: ".... F*** off." -----
What happened to class? Just showing a little consideration for the opposite sex? The assumption is That women will only go online to have cyber sex with a random guy. According to sevral male friends of mine they have NEVER had a women ask them "A/S/L?" over the net. while ALL the girls Ive asked said they had it asked more than three times. It drives me nuts! We dont give a damn what your age, sex or location is as long as you can play the damn game! You know what? Im gonna go back onto dark eden and start asking a bunch of guys "ASL?!?!" mabye then they'll know How I feel.

Nice idea, but it'll probably backfire. Though it will be interesrting to hear the results, and it may evenscare them if it works as planned.
To be honest, when I started LANning on the public circuit. I copped something similar. But considering that it is an environment where you get to know people, after regularly gaming with them, they get to know you and the problem subsides. Thesedays when we go to a new LAN, or some bloke who doesn't know me hits on me at a LAN. I simply point to my husband and say "I'm his, now get back into the game where I can continue to whoop your a**." Works like a charm.

Ever played Tibia? (The cheapest online roleplay ever. It's all 8-bit). Anyways, if you can basically kick a dwarf/cyclops/dragon's a**. people immediately think your a guy. One person accused me of being a transexual. Right before I threw a death rune at him. ^.^
But everyone immediately hits on you if your an actual girl. I swear, I loved when you could gain experience for killing other characters. I leveled up so fast.

Hahahaha. What a jerkoff.
Try going to a LAN party sometime, all the boys there think it's EVER so witty to ask me that when I walk in the door. Never mind that I'm carry a giant, heavy, monster of a monitor that they could help me carry/carry for me rolleyes .
Guys will be guys, they're fascinated by girls who play video-games. If you're a girl and play video-games, then to most nerds you're instantly more attractive than the supposed "hottest girl in school" type of girl. I mean, at least it's good if you ever feel unattractive, (whichnoneofyoushould!) just go online and watch all the boys fawn at your superior character xD.

The only thing I really got along the asl lines was in Guild Wars. It was some guy from Austria playing as a female ranger and I was playing as a female necromancer. I forget how it came up but I mentioned that I was an actual real-life girl. He asked me how old I was, and when I told him I was 18 he got super shocked all of a sudden. I figure it's because not only am I a gamer chick, but I'm also not a little girl. xd

I don't get a/s/l much, alot of people assume I'm a guy playing as a girl. When I tell them, they are mostly surprised.

I don't see why they are so surprised. I usually assume a girl avi is a girl behind the computer, same with games.

I assume that too, even though people would probably think me silly for assuming that since no one thinks girls play games. xp

*tears and looks and KH and FF* Don't listen to him.
Well I find that so amusing. Girls can kick major 3D a**. I often get ASL on runescape. Also random people tell me I'm hot. It gets really annoying.

No one has every called me hot based on my character before, thank God. The only thing anyone has said to be about my character was with my female necromancer. She was wearing full Fanatic's armor all dyed purple, and some guy whispers me and says that the kind of armor I was wearing was the coolest looking armor in the whole game. biggrin

mysticneko I don't see why they are so surprised. I usually assume a girl avi is a girl behind the computer, same with games. Have to point out that there are gamers like my brother out there. He always plays with a female character. When I asked him about that a few years back, his response was simple: "If I'm going to be sitting at this PC for endless hours beating the bejeezus out of this game, then I want something interesting to look at."

Yeah I've had that happen to me countless times, and even when I'm playing with my boyfriend in the same group...they still ask dumbass questions.
Try playing a game like Guild Wars and getting on ts for the first time. Oh sweet jesus.....its like your a small cute squirrel surrounded by panthers, lol. It was like that for me when I first did ts (teamspeak), but now that my guild members know me and my voice, they love it everytime I say anything lol. But yeah, they're guys.....can't live with them, can't live without em. rolleyes heart

Haha. I know how ya'll feel.
I've been playing CS:S for a while now and I just started using the voice function since its a lot easier to talk to people while I'm alive. I logged into a server where it was obviously populated with all guys(porn sprays everywhere, I learned to ignore it, especially on the fun servers). I start talking... they all automaticly assume I'm a 12-13 yr old kid. Some guy says something about me being a kid kicking his a** or something but when I said I was a girl the server went insane! Most of them were joking but they all seemed extremly surprised. It was hilarious.
I go to that server all the time now so they're used to me. biggrin
I usually just go with any insults... its more fun than taking offence. xD

Wow...scary...I forget how idiotic some guys are. Note to self...if ever I find myself doing something like the above, shoot myself in the foot. Better yet, have my girlfriend shoot me in the foot. She's a gamer, so she'd gladly oblige.
