Chachili was sleeping. In her dreams, she was a young fawn, bounding gleefully up a mountain slope. She hadn't a care in the world, then, and felt as light as a feather.
'I'm free,' she thought, bounding gracefully through the air, 'I'm almost flying.'
The dream had been peaceful until then. Suddenly, a shadow appeared, twisting and contorting into the form of a lion. Chachili watched in horror as it came closer and closer, it's hot breath beating against her cheek.
Fear striking inside of her, the klipspringer leapt, bounding as fast as she could, trying her best to escape the lion's jaws. But it was on her tail, never tiring, catching up to her...
Chachili cried out as another figure materialised. It was an adult, a male deer with large horns sprouting from it's head. It looked at her. She almost screamed, reaching out to the klipspringer before her.
"Father, save me!"
But the deer smirked, turned away and left her to the lion.
Chachili awoke with a start. Her dream had been vivid, and realistic. Turning, she checked about her, looking around to see if there were any predators about. A breeze flowed through, calming her down.
"It was only a dream. There are no predators about."
Chachili hoped she was alone.

Oh, but the klipspringer was wrong. Koin was wandering about. He just wasn't hunting. He shook bits of sand out of his fur and kept walking.
He spotted a something grey near by. It obviously didn't notice him. He stared at it for a second before realizing it was a kilpspringer.
Blinking, he walked closer to the klipsringer. He shouldn't be that hard to miss now.

Chachili jumped up, shocked. A wild dog? A predator? Now?!
Shaking a little, stiff half asleep, the klipspringer stumbled to her feet. She was dizzy, drowsy, and almost toppled over. She certainly wasn't feeling as well as she usually felt. In fact, she felt a little ill. Was the chill of the African night biting down on her? Was she getting some sort of... cold?
The klipspringer forced herself to fully awaken. She had met a few wild dogs, and all had been friendly enough, but she still didn't want to let her guard down.
"Who are you?" Chachili demanded to know, her cobalt blue eyes locking into the wild dog's red ones, "What are you doing here?"

Kion chuckled a bit. He thought it funny when anyone panicked.
He stepped a bit closer. She looked a bit... sick. "Hmm...." he said, even though it sounded more like a hum or a sigh.
"I'm just passing through. Don't be alarmed. My names Koin," he said. "And just who might you be?"

Chachili watched Koin's steps, warily. If he attacked, she wanted to have time to run. However, maybe she'd be able to stare Koin down a little bit more. He didn't seem that dangerous, but appearances could be deceiving.
"Koin?" she repeated, ears flicking cautiously. She felt a little calmer now. Whenever she heard someone's name, she could be quite sure that they most likely wouldn't want to eat her. Anyone who gave her a name would most likely rather have a chat than actually stalking her and killing her.
In fact, if she'd be dead by now if he was a threat.
"I'm Chachili," the klipspringer replied, lowering her guard a little, "A klipspringer. I'm a wanderer."
She winced a little as pain surged through her forehead. A headache?
She ignored it. This was not the time to rest. There was a predator standing in front of her.

"Yes, that's my name," he said hearing her repeat his name.
Hmm... a wanderer... he thought curiously. "As am I," he said. "I follow the wind."
He watcher her wince. "Hmm..." he 'humed' again, with a bit more concern.

"A wanderer, too? Then I suppose you're like me..." Chachili gave a small grin, then buckled over.
"Arghhh... my head..."
She shook her head, once, twice, then three times. Slowly, the pain went away. It wasn't completely gone, however... it was a dull pain, nibbling away at the back of her mind.
"A bit of a headache," she explained, trying not to look like she was in pain, "So tell me, Koin... do you eat meat of any kind?"

He looked at her with concerned eyes before sitting down. "You look sick and stressed..." he said bluntly.
"Only birds, its a fun chase..." Koin said as his tail curled lightly beside him.

"Uh... hmmm... yeah, I guess I do feel a little crook," Chachili looked at the ground, feeling a little embarrassed, "I'm going through a bit at the moment. All these weird, mixed memories and feelings. And headaches, too."
She was showing weakness to a wild dog, of all things! The shame! The klipspringer felt a little ashamed of herself. How could she even mention a headache? This dog would be able to sense she wasn't feeling well... then, without another word, he could pounce. He could pounce at any time.
Chachili was worried.
"Only birds?" she asked, feeling on the edge, "I guess that's good, then. You don't happen to eat my kind, do you?"
Chachili got ready to back away.

He chuckled a bit. He looked up to the sky a bit then back to her.
"Nah. I wouldn't eat anything that roams only on land. Land is no fun. I'd rather go for something in the air," he said with a tilt of his head.
"So yes, only birds, not your kind," he confirmed.

"Aaaah..." Chachili relaxed a little, "That's a relief."
She tilted her head to look towards the sky. No birds in sight, yet, but maybe she could get Koin to give her a bit of a demonstration.
"So, can you prove it?" she grinned, flashing some of her teeth, "Prove to me that you can catch birds? There's a few nesting in that tree over there... sleeping, I think..."
She wanted to see how true Koin's statement was. She also wanted to see Koin's tecnique. The truth was, Chachili was just curious.

"Ahh... Sleeping. Well, that's no fun," he said childishly.
He though for a moment. "Hmm..." he said thoughtfully.
He looked at the birds. "Maybe I can startle them awake..." he said thoughtfully.
He looked at the klipspringer again. "I can't promise to catch on on the fist try though..." he said, tilting his head a bit and standing.

"Maybe you should, uh, scare them first," Chachili suggested, "Then they'll go into a panic and you'll be able to... chase them? It's worth a try... to see if you can do it, I mean. If you can, that is."
The klipspringer said this, almost teasingly, to Koin.
"Do your best. I'll be watching!"
She walked forward, finding herself a good place to sit, watching Koin with interest.

The tree looked sturdy. For safe measures, he wanted to test it. he walked him to the tree and jumped onto a low branch and jump to the ground. He then started to walk away.

Chachili watched on.
Would Koin catch anything? Her heart was pounding with excitement. She hadn't seen a predator hunt before! Oh, how exciting this was!
She started to feel dizzy again, but pushed the feeling back.
'I'm just excited, that's it,' Chachili thought, watching Koin from the grass, 'Just... getting too... excited...'
She cringed as the pain surged back through her forehead.
'Watch, Chachili. Watch. Forget about your headache. Just watch!'
