I've tried to be a vegetarian, but sadly I really don't like vegetables. I've been meaning to try tofu, but I always forget...plus I love meat....alot... sweatdrop Really alot. The only vegetables I can stand are tomatoes and potatoes... I do love fruit alot, (mmm....apples...) but anyways, I can't just live off of fruit can I? I love animals...but they taste so damn good!... I've tried salad on numerous occasions....but I just can't eat it... I think I'm going to have to be a meat eating hippie... oh well... unless you guys can help me out here, I'll be eating fruits and meats...

Go hit the soy burgers man! Check your local walmart for morning star brand. Best ******** soy ever. And try boca burgers for just straight veggie burgers. I've yet to try garden burger, but they are the original, so Ill try em soon. Man. I dont really like tomatoes, or cucumbers, or many others. But I ******** LOVE lettuce. man, if it helps, Load your salad with dressing. Prefferably vingerette, or ranch, cause that s**t masks the taste so well. But yeah man, You'll be amazed at how good you feel once you go veggie. I have never felt better (physically) in my life. So man, bump the meat, and eat your broccolli wink

I've been a vegetarian for a little over 2 years now. And I live in Texas. I've heard it's best to slowly transition when you want to cut meat out of your diet rather than go cold turkey. Morning Star Farms has great chicken and veggie burgers and fake meats. you can get some fake plain chicken stips and use them to make anything. They also have fake ground beef stuff. So really just checking out the frozen food section of your grocery store for fake meats is the first thing I'd suggest. It's usually close to the breakfast foods for some reason. Amy's brand frozen food is pretty good. Tofu's hard to cook though. I haven't figured out how to do that yet, much to my disappointment. You have to drain it first by pressing it overnight in the fridge before you cook it. But I know a couple places where I can get it if I want it so that's ok. I also suggest trying foods you wouldn't normally try. Indian food is really good. If you don't have an Indian restaraunt where you live Ethnic Cuisine (frozen food brand) has decent Indian dishes and it labels it if it's vegetarian on the box. Mediterranean food is also pretty good. I like Falafals, hummus, and Pita bread. Also invest in a good vegetarian cookbook which you can get cheaper at a used book store (used book stores are love). http://vegweb.com also has a bunch of really good recipes you can check out. Another thing I'd do is join a vegetarian community on the web. It helps if you're having problems at first and need support.

You can also make some black bean patties yourself. They're really good, especially if you make them with chilies. I like spicy food. smile Give veggies a chance. Try something you've never eaten before. Try cooking a disliked vegetable in a different way. If I'd lived with my grandmother, I'd have hated vegetables too, she drowns them in water when she cooks them. Try sauteeing mushrooms. Make a yummy stirfry with carrots and asparagus. Have some pizza, I like mine with mushrooms and green peppers.

I choose to eat meat but I get the free range stuff. At least they've lived happy, even if their death was a bit gruesome. I see eating as maintaining the natural balance.

I love my meat, and I'm not ashamed of it. Humans began to amass some brain power once they started to eat meat. 3nodding If hippies want to be natural, they should eat what people naturally crave.

I believe in the cirlce of life, therefore I stick to meat (and preferably free range). But I beg to differ that their death is "gruesome". They are killed instantaneously. One musn't forget that both diets have their pros and cons. To each his own, right? smile
