Crouching amongst the grass was a little cub, her fur a shade lighter than the grass that surrounded her. She had been blessed with the pelt of her mother and it was something she was very proud of. There was no one who could look more beautiful than her!
However she was not concerned with her appearance at this moment in time. No. In fact she was focused intently on something that lay only a metre or so away, lying motionless in the grass as if waiting for her to move.
She had been staring at it for a good few minutes now, her vibrant green eyes watching for it to make the first move. When it did, POW! She'd pounce it, bite it, claw it and knock it dead! Then she'd drag it home to mother and father and display it on the ground for them to see.
Hee hee hee!
Sniffing quietly Ivie repositioned herself slightly, moving her paws so that she could prepare herself to pounce. She'd practised the manoeuvre several times before and though it had come up with no success she had a feeling this would be it.
Today was the day she'd catch her prey and impress her parents!
A shame then that the 'prey' she was hunting happened to be a particularly harmless species of stick.

Vitashki was not generally well camoflaged on any terrain, having inherited her father and grandfather's unnaturally blue fur. Even in water she stood out starkly against the land round about her. It was really embarrassing when you crept up on a grazing gazelle only to have the creature remark that you'd be better off at hunting if you didn't look like some type of macaw and skip away.
But these setbacks only made Vit more determined and snappish. Somewhere she blamed her parents for making her such an odd colour instead of green like her siblings. At least at first she had, until Red had let slip about Mrost and how similar she looked to the god of war.
That changed everything and now the blue lioness was throwing her weight around more and holding her head high, she was related to a god!
Stopping in her tracks from where she had been lazily sauntering along, she spotted the light green figure of her sister crouched in the grass. She was surprisingly well hidden, and Vit wondered what she was stalking. Still, it wouldn't do to pass up on such a fantastic chance to give her a bit of a fright. Crouching low to the ground, the blue lioness slunk up on her sister, took aim and pounced.
"Hehehe!"

Completely unaware of the approaching cub young Ivie'lingwa remained focused intently on the task at paw. Remembering to breath calmly, to make sure her paws didn't make a single sound.
It was obviously then, quiet a suprise when she found herself being pounced on.
"Eeek!" The high-pitched squeal of terror ripped free from the little cub's throat, strange images flickering through her mind's eye as she wriggled free from the paws of the stranger...who happened to be her sister.
"Oh, s'you." She replied, pouting as she reached up to brush the dirt from her nose. "You gotta be quiet when I'm hunting you know." Her brow furrowed as she sshimmied sideways and waved her paw in the direction of her prey. "Don't yah see that over there? The poisonous beastie that I'm going to slay!"
It seemed she had much to learn.

Vita grinned as she hopped off of her sister, flicking her tail behind her. She raised a brow "Hunting?" following the direction that Ivie gestured she blinked. "Uhm, that's.." She peered closer. "Yeah, that's a stick. Sticks aren't exactly hard to catch you know." Stretching decadently she grinned "I'd say I did better, I caught myself a lion cub on my first try."
Apparently her arrogance had only grown with the news of her grandfather's identity. She didn't even consider for a moment that same blood also remained a part of her siblings too. They were green, so in her young mind, were like her mother.
Still, it was knowledge to brag about, and bragging was something the blue lioness did to excess.
"I know somethin' you don't know!"

The pout only increased, her eyes narrowing slightly and nose wrinkling as she stared definately back at her blue sister. "Yes, hunting! And no it's not a stick darn it!" However with that said she turned her head to glance at her prey as if just to make sure.
It was brown like a snake, shaped like a snake, and sunbathed just like a snake! So in conclusion it could only be one thing, and that was definately not a stick.
She turned back to face her sister, sticking her tongue out before settling her rump on the ground. "I coulda caught a lion cub too yah know, if I wanted tah." She had a habit of talking in a rather child-like voice, very much acting like the youngest child should. Eager to prove herself and retain her 'cute' appearance was something she tried to devote herself to.
It was only when the other's chanting began that she got up to her paws and moved a little closer. "You do? What is it? Tell meeeeeee, pretty, pretty please~!" She bounced on her paws, tail flailing behind her. "I want to knowww!"
Oh dear...a whiny cub wouldn't be much company...

Vit didn't even attempt to convince her sister of her prey's plant origins, just shrugging and stating. "Well snakes have gotten oddly shaped and stiller since I saw that grass one a few days ago." After all, for all she knew there could be a variety of snake that looked just like a stick. Grinning at her statement of being able to catch a lion cub, Vit nodded. "Brother, yes, but me? Not a chance." she laughed "No one can capture me."
"And yes" she grinned "It's about our grandfather, something mother didn't want us to know but father told me by accident." there was a wicked glee to possessing this knowledge she felt, it was like a power having secrets like that, and power was addictive. Swishing her tail, she sat down, looking haughty.
"But first you have to give me a good reason why I should tell you too."

"Maybe that one's just sleeping, eh? I mean they have to sleep sometime and maybe the sun made it drowsy so it just feel asleep right there!" She waved her tail eagerly from side to side, the golden tuft waving elegantly through the air as she glanced mischieviously at her elder sister. "How do you know I can't capture you? You've never let me!" It looked like she wanted to go on with this point, that was until Vit started talking about other things, things that captured Ivie's curiosity instantly.
"Grandfather? Why would mother and father not want us to know about him? You gotta tell me!"
She bounced again, her vibrant green eyes pleading with the other. "You have to tell me cod I'm your favouritist, bestist sister ever! Pu-leaaase!"

Vitashki didn't comment on the "snake", unsure wether or not snakes slept at all. She didn't much like admitting there were a lot of things she didn't know. "How do I know? I just know." she nodded as if this was utterly decisive evidence.
But once again she resumed her "I have a secret" stance.
"You are my /only/ sister." she stated bluntly. "But I suppose it wouldn't do to leave you wondering like that. Well, you know of gods? Big winged lions? Well dad's dad was one of them. We are related to one!" she nodded,

"A lion with wings?" Her eyes widened visibly and her little face was filled with awe. She tried to picture a handsome blue lion with a flowing mane and giant wings that were more elegant than any other creature that lived. A lion that could outfly any bird, hunt on land and in the sky, see the world at angles most could only dream of.
Then suddenly a thought struck her.
"But if our father's father is a God shouldn't he be a God too? How comes he doesn't have fluffy wings? It's not fair." She stomped a little paw on the ground, "father should have wings too, then we could be Gods and not normal little cublings!"
She released a small huff, ears flattening as she tried to get her midn around this. "And if our Grandfather is a God why would our parents hide it from us? There has to be a reason yah know."
That didn't change the fact that she wanted to fly.

Vitashki shrugged "Maybe dad's mum wasn't a god? Maybe his wings fell off? It could be anything that made him look like a normal lion. Or maybe we don't get our wings till we are older." the idea of growing into a radient goddess really appealed to Vit and it was one flight of fancy she didn't mind allowing free reign in her mind.
"But yes, as for why we weren't allowed to know, apparently this god is a really bad guy. Dad says he would kill us if he ever got the chance, kill him. But still, doesn't change the fact that we are related to him. He must be super strong though if dad's even scared of him."
She nodded as if suddenly the authority on family history. "Dad probably did something bad to have made his dad so angry. Maybe he wouldn't go get a bath when he was told to."

She listened first to everything that Vit said, taking into account all the suggestions and noting them down. "Perhaps father did something bad too and that's why he doesn't have wings no more, maybe that's why grandfather hates him. I know if my son became a regular lion all of a sudden when he was supposed to be a God I'd be a bit annoyed. He might be seen as a let down which means we're the children of a failure!"
She was beginning to worry now, for her own safety moer than anything else. "What if this God does come and kill us? He'd have reasons tah! That won't happen though, will it Vit?" It was obvious now that she was trying to seek comfort for something that worried her.
She didn't want to die! She had a life to live!
"Perhaps we should give father a bath? If you think that'll make Grandfather happy..." It was a logn shot, but worth a try, right?
