[[ introduction ]]
In Wicca, we believe in two Deities that are equal. They shape our celebrations, rituals and help us to help ourselves.
They are the Lord and Lady: the God and Goddess. Depending on your view, they each have different forms and are individuals, or viewing the various Deities as aspects or personalities of one Deity. If you're confused: don't worry. There will be more on this later.

[[ divine energy ]]
It's good to develop a relationship with the Divine Energy (the Lord and Lady). Grovelling is out. To do this, Scott Cunningham recommends visiting them in their forms (the moon for the Lady, the sun for the Lord) at about the same time every day. Myself, I go out at about 10 every night and just watch the moon, and about 9 for watching the sun.
You can adopt a specific position if you wish: for the Lady, stretch your arms out in front of you and bend them slightly at the elbows. Splay your fingers. Feel the moons energy tingling on your skin: visualise her if you wish. Try communing. They do listen, and I have had an experience with the Goddess in the Crones form appearing for me.
The position for the Lord is an upright stance, with your arms folded. Tilt your head up slightly to feel the suns energy tingle on your cheeks, but don't make the mistake of looking directly into the force of the sun - it burns!
You don't have to follow this, of course. They are present everywhere. Below is a list of their various forms and attributes.
The God
- sun - red - Also known as the Green Man, or Sky Father - Elements: fire + air - stars (distant suns) - fruits of earthy bounty - hunting - forests, deserts, mountains - wild animals - strength - love of life - celebrates + rules sex
The Goddess
- moon - green - Also know as the Silver Lady or Earth Mother - Elements: earth + water - represented as maiden, mother and crone in the phases of the moon - is the cradle and the grave - fertility - creation - nurturing and healing - changeless - beauty

[[ Maiden, Mother, Crone ]]
The triple Goddess - in her forms of Maiden, Mother and Crone. This concept can be seen in different ways - such as the phases of the moon, or the progress of the Wheel of the Year.
So - first up, the New Moon or Maiden. She's a young girl, and sings of freshness. She symbolises beginnings and potential. Her clothes and personality are composed of softness and light. (To show this in spells or rituals, you would use white, pink and yellow.) She has no boundries - no man to tie her down. Sprint time rituals are usually associated with the Maiden.
The Mother, the Full Moon. She's in the prime of her life, at her peak of power. She's nuturing and caring - warm. (To show this in spells or rituals, you'd use green, copper or royal blue.) Her role is one of fertility, growth, sexuality and ripeness. Summer and Harvest rituals are associated with the Mother.
The Crone, a shrewd olderly woman is the last phase of the moon. She Council's Well, and is extremely logical. Seeing as all things were created by the Lady, all things must return to the Lady, the Crone symbolises death and prophesy. (To show this in spells or rituals, you'd use black, grey and brown.) Winter is her season.

Thank you very much. I really like hearing this information from actual people rather than reading it in books that don't explain it very well.

Rebo_Nicky Are there not also three forms of the God (Lord)? sweatdrop I've heard youth, warrior/father and sage being used, though I don't know any more about that. confused I'm a bit apathetic towards deities.

usiylover2 I've always seen the Mother as pregnant... Is that OK? Well, that's probably because most of the time, the Goddess is pregnant. That's a very common perception. So, yes, it's okay.

Yeah. Pregnacy epresents fertility. So the Mother, Goddess of fertility, is pregnant.
