A'ight guys, I'm looking for a little designerly advice. I'm going to be doing my thesis soon (BFA in Art, graphic design emphasis) and I've been lacking in ideas for what I could do. At first I thought about doing books, but couldn't think of anything to put in them. Then I considered doing some intense illustrations concerning the 9 mythical muses; this evolved into a sort of modern muses idea which I almost got excited about because I was creating something that had an interesting concept, but it ultimately turned into something that I didn't think I'd be able to execute properly since I've never really done illustrations before.
So, now I'm kinda back to square one and need to come up with something. I've thought about doing a wedding where I'd design the invitations, napkins, plates, guest book, etc. I've also thought about doing a fashion company design stuff, but since I'm not really into fashion I didn't think I'd be able to do it justice either.
Blah, I'll stop blabbing now. Do any of you have ideas? Keep in mind it's something that I'm going to show in a gallery, so it'll have to a big enough project to fill a bit of space.

Your asking us for ideas? You seem to have several. Don't be afriad to try something that your not sure you can do perfectly. You have to at least make an attempt right?
If you don't like the end product, then you could, if time isn't a problem, start on another idea.
The wedding idea seem easy.

It's pretty open. I can do anything so long as it's graphic design. *shrug* It needs to be quite a bit of stuff, though. I couldn't just do one poster and call it quits. I'd have to do something like (for example) 10 large illustrations, or an identity thing plus promotional stuff for a company, or something else that would be considered a body of work.

So if you made up a fake company, you could basicly give them an logo, makes some ads and a website? Would that be considered a body of work? I'm almost 17 (20 days), and I don't have very much experiences either.

how about redesign some famous old logo's into web 2.0 style.... well yes, i know it aint the best idea, but it's something todo

And you don't necessarily have to do illustration, just maybe a vintage style? Posters would be very cool. Like those really old French ones! [doesn't know what she's talking about]
