have any of you guys ever heard of Jaime Aebersold, the guy who writes jazz books? i love collecting them and playing the songs. i have books with songs by Bird, Coltrane, Duke, and some others. i like the genre books too, like Latin and Salsa, bebop, and straight up swing. cool

If my cash wasn't tied up with buying reeds, I'd buy more of them. : / They're very nice and those CD's are so useful.

I have a library of Aebersold that's actuallly at my friends house at the moment. I used to work at a music shop and i bought alot when i was there. They're great soloing tools for jazz musicians, with such a wide variety of songs from various artists! I use them all the time to work on my reading of changes and stuff.

My favorites are Blue and Sentimental (a nice Basie tune), Close your Eyes (I still can't play it just right yet. It isn't /hard/, per se, but it's tempo is quarter note = 252.), Hot House (how can you not love that song?), and Good-Bye (It's really slow and you can just wail during solos)
